Amber Alert issued for pregnant teenager suspected to be with 40-year-old man

An Amber Alert has been issued for a pregnant teenager who is believed to be with a 40-year-old man.

Sophia Franklin, 16, was last seen Sunday night at her home in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin. She is three months pregnant.

Authorities believe she is with 40-year-old Gary F. Day, who is the father of Sophia’s unborn child. He was last seen at Sophia’s home Monday morning.

Day and Sophia have a no-contact order.

They are believed to be traveling in a 2014 model black Buick LaCrosse with Arkansas license plate BBR 20L.

Her family is also claiming she has had severe morning sickness. That could need attention by itself. Not sure if I actually buy that it's quite the issue the family is selling, but it is possible.

Seems like her entire family could use some intervention. a 15/16 year old and they had no clue where she was or what she was doing for 6 months and now they are acting like they can't do a day without her. Something is off on that, by itself.
If they witnessed the morning sickness prior to six months ago, she is maybe near term now then. At least 7 or 8 months. Yet the alert says she is 3 months pregnant. I am not really following. Did she speak to them on the phone in the last 3 months and tell them this?

Oh I totally ABSOLUTELY agree with you on the family needing intervention or investigation or something.... but I certainly don't wanna be too judgey without more public evidence on the family and I'm usually one who fully supports a family of a missing child and I do support them I think they truly want their daughter back safe (God I do hope that is what they want, they seem like it} but they seem to definitely need assistance with her BIG TIME

I've had teens so I know how trying it can be, but I still can not get past the fact that they did not lay eyes on their underaged daughter for at least 6 months before this and now making it out like they can't do without her for one day. Their words ring hollow on this aspect. This much we DO know. They are supposed to be the adults here. The teen was definitely running the show, it seems.

My guess is when found to be a minor living with a man in AR and shipped back is when the pregnancy was found out, or at some point after she was sent back home. When was that, a couple of months before abducted this time wasn't it, which would put the 3 months in the range...

She may well have had a rape kid and evaluation and pregnancy test and that's one way the pregnancy would have become known or she told them, and knew herself, less likely imo but hard to say. Even though it is not statutory rape in AR, he was still with a minor, and took her from her home in another state. Clearly, she was sent home, and a no contact order was now in place as well when this happened.

Not the biggest fan but here is Grizzly live. First person I've seen pick this case up on YT. Right off, I see something where it says he removed his ankle monitor AND the car belongs to his mother... Wasn't it mom who reported him missing after the fact... Mm-hmm. Did she willingly let him borrow the car, did she know he cut his ankle monitor. One has to wonder...

Oh so he's on the run as well as nearly being old enough to be her grandfather.

She apparently has been "safe" with him before so I HOPE she is safe but he's in trouble and knows it, and I HOPE that doesn't make him desperate and that she remains safe. I mean she's not safe in that she's with an old man who has sex with her but I mean general physical safety, I hope she's safe.

Yeah, he's a real prize.

I get it my daughter just turned 21. Teen years can be trying and clearly this teen was running the show. I agree with you regarding their cries ring hollow after not knowing where she was for 6 months.... they need assistance like social services help clearly.

I'm going to watch this later today. This is the first true crime anyone that I've seen cover this. I've seen the missing poster shared on X I shared it too but that's the extent of what I've seen.

She's the first one I've seen. I'm a bit surprised since most of them are struggling it seems to find new cases that get attention ever since Delphi wound to a close with many of them.

It goes to show though that I'm not sure how well known the case is i.e. how many out there have even heard of the case nor know she's missing or of the story.

Oh my! These people have 6 kids and she's the oldest???? I'm watching grizzly video right now and already I'm thinking she's done a good job with this episode on this case

She does get a lot of info and do fairly in depth shows. There are a few things with her I came to not like so I don't watch her often but it isn't so bad that I never will, just prefer others but no one else is covering this case.

Don't ask me why but I have wondered if the family might not be Amish or something. I have NO reason for thinking that and it's probably not the case so I've never mentioned it or wondered out loud. I think it comes from picking up on maybe a strictness, religion, and Sophia's look. All of that means no such thing of course. Probably not the case but there are hints of at least a pretty religious family imo.

So six kids huh? And if she's the eldest this is their first heading through the teenage years.

Again I have NO reason for thinking the above at all, just something that crosses my mind more than once. Probably not the case.

I don't think their Amish but very religious, didn't have a cell phone until mid 2024 I guess
6 kids is alot and now with this on the plate they definitely need a good social worker looking over them.
I guess FBI is involved as they should be since this is crossing state lines.

So 6 kids, excluding multiple births could be ages 1, 4 , 7, 10, 13 and 16. I can see how they perhaps were not too critical of her pregnancy. How old are Mum and Dad?

So no cell phone till mid 2024. About 7 months ago. Was that Sophia who got the phone?

ahhh, I didn't notice the same case number. I just saw the 2024 and 2025 dates.
So this is the second time he has done it then? Sorry it didn't copy well. But the first time was 29th July. So she returns or is brought back at some point. If she is 3 months pregnant, that must mean she was with him from July till November, at least and he has now abducted her a second time. Is that right?
