They only have her sister's account of what happened. They had a fight and she walked off into the woods.... but there's also this she walked up the driveway theory.... where FBI CARD Team is activated and still involved tells me they can not rule out she was lured by someone online.
This is a way of life many do not understand. I have family up there who live basically off the grid. It's peaceful and I love it but it's not for everyone. People up there are very concerned she was catfished by a pedophile pretending online to be someone she could trust. Possibly convincing her that they were not much older like yes old enough to drive.... it's terrifying.
Another case that comes to mind is Abby Hernandez from NH. Poor girl was ambushed walking home from school by a psycho that abducted her then raped and tortured her for 9 months keeping her captive.....luckily power of prayer worked and she came home alive.
I hope Stefanie also comes home alive and the power of prayer prevails again.
Thank you for the fill in. A wanting to go off grid is truly a thing these days and I get it to a POINT but I think many do it for the wrong reasons or to hide what's really going on. To me, TRULY off grid means not being able to be found or tracked, absolutely no utilities, etc. Now going to somewhere quieter and more private I consider that different. I just sold the place in my whole life (and I'm not young, that probably had the most privacy and freedom I had ever enjoyed. Had acres, dead end, just a great piece of property. I enjoyed getting back to such and hearing the frogs, seeing wildlife, having quiet, etc.
This is the point when winding down I get more wordy as I'm doing tonight.
Looking back up at your post. Being able to be catfished and online is not what I think of as truly off grid. Parents may try to keep off but kids can find a way even so. Not sure I know about the Hernandez case.
So is it clear she disappeared this day because in most cases if there is not at least some independent sighting and even that I don't always count on, or camera footage found like surveillance, we see so many now they have been missing longer... Only reported when someone was about to check on the family or they had to explain where the child was, etc. I am not up on it, I apologize.
I guess another thing I'd say is maybe not all, but being raised off grid or even just rurally even if by good family, where you don't have a lot of interaction other than with your family or in that small area, you can be pretty darned naive at such an age.
Hey you are pretty active on the threads. I enjoy discussion and we all are busy and all but you've been on quite a few I see. I hope you stick around.
There's a case I'm trying to think of the name of, not sure if you followed, but think I mentioned it here or in another thread. She was alive but they lived "off grid" but for all the wrong reasons imo. I don't even know if it was prosecuted by any state but it was going through federal court last I knew. She IS a survivor but had little way to get out. And found a way, online, traded her fatherly molestor for a man who had sex with her when she was a minor but he got her out of there and tried to help her. That's a tough one with subjects to navigate. In the early stages when she was missing, her name was out there, but once found, being a minor, news stopped giving the name and I am drawing a blank. I recall almost all details though. It's a tough one as he really did save her, get her out, help her prove what she was going through, etc. But I guess of course that's statutory rape. He was adult and she was probably this young, maybe a bit older.
Not up to finding it but probably can one day. She knew enough I believe to take sheets, etc. MOM should have been charged too imo not sure if she ever was but dad was. It kind of disappeared from being able to follow or I came here around then and it wasn't on here, don't recall.
I am kind of wandering but it's a tough one, I don't think he was a child predator, the one who saved her. And he did get her out of awful stuff at her home and they had moved off grid, etc. But because they had sex, he was sentenced to ten years, the one that got her away from worse. IN the fed pen if I recall.
I love private property and peace. I also have another side that loves the convenience of a small city. I did have both. But some people do the off the grid for the wrong reasons. And we could have still been found, had utilities, etc. And had no minor children at home. Just love the peace of land and some quiet.
Anyhow, going on way long enough.
And don't know enough about this case I will admit.
The main one I know of is the case I am talking about, and for a long time and I was at another site then, it was never even reported he was her stepfather, all thought he was her father, but wasn't and had been molesting her since little into teens, etc. I think something happened and they moved. Off grid. And she had no outs. But she found the best one she could, not the best but it got her out. I'm not saying that's the case here because I don't know enough about this one.
And it for sure wasn't right to then probably have sex with her but she was a minor so the man who helped her went to the fed pen I believe for ten years. BUT HE DID HELP HER and HELP HER PROVE IT.
So again a bit of a sidetrack, just wondering the deal in this one... And should say again, I truly don't know enough about it.
I understand and like off grid, or private, I like both worlds actually. Probably why I tried to hang on so long to both. But I'm not doing anything shady. Not growing or producing illegal things, no minor children, etc. and to be clear I think of truly off grid as trying to hide, no utilities, no nothing.
But I may be way off base as to what is thought here as again don't know the case well and will always admit that when I don't. And I've went on long enough.
