AMBER Alert issued for missing 5-year-old out of Hawkins Co.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation issued a statewide AMBER Alert for a missing 5-year-old girl from Rogersville in Hawkins County Wednesday morning.

Officials with the Hawkins County Sheriff’s Office confirmed to WVLT News that Summer Moon-Utah Wells went missing Tuesday night. Sheriff’s Office officials are asking for the public’s help locating the child.

Summer Wells has blonde hair and was last seen wearing grey shorts and a pink shirt on Ben Hill road, officials said. She has been missing since 7 p.m. Tuesday.

TBI officials said Summer Wells may now have shorter hair than that pictured in earlier alerts.

People jumping all over the families has bothered me more than normal recently. (Not here really, just online in general.) Especially in Summer's case and now in Michael's case in Idaho too.

I think it's a combination of several things. LE having given absolutely no indication that they suspect the families. Details, and intricate and lengthy searching of the immediate area, seeming to indicate otherwise. YouTube people latching onto rumors and speculation and people following en masse. People on social media seemingly LOOKING for the families to be guilty.

It's no longer, "what happened to Summer", it's "Don what did you do to Summer". And now it's going from "what happened to Michael" to "the dad and babysitter are very suspicious".

When LE gives no details, speculation and rumors run rampant. In both of these cases, 10% of the information has come from LE and the other 90% has come from social media. LE neglecting to confirm or deny anything at all leaves a lot of room for people to get their panties in a bunch. Sometimes over a 30-second change in the timeline or a misspoken statement.

In these cases, LE has given absolutely no indication that they suspect the parents. Might they? Absolutely. But it makes me sad to think that nothing more than YouTube rumors and Facebook speculation led to THREE people turning up to a prayer vigil for a missing 5-year-old girl. Summer deserves better than that.

I'm not saying anyone is innocent. Because I don't know. But that's the point, isn't it? These people crucifying the family don't know either. Is it okay to ask questions and wonder about things and discuss? Yes, for sure. But people are losing sight of the big picture here. Again, might they be guilty? YES. But I'm not jumping on the crucifixion bandwagon without a bit more evidence. And I do thank everyone else (almost everyone?) here for doing the same.
Thank you. People are just drooling over a certain YTer right now and I'm just . . . well anyway.

57 days missing: TBI agents, Hawkins Co. detectives continue their search for Summer Wells
It's been more than eight weeks since 5-year-old Summer Wells was reported missing by her parents, prompting a statewide AMBER Alert to find the missing child.

Hawkins County Sheriff Ronnie Larson said Wednesday the investigation remains active.

“I understand people’s curiosity about where we’re at in the case as far as investigation. And I know people speculate—and I understand that. But they have to understand our number one goal from day 1 is to find Summer. Everybody’s still a suspect, person of interest, however you want to put it. We’re still very intensely looking into it.”

Hawkins sheriff says Summer Wells case has not grown cold

“We are still, as we speak, still looking into information we have received from (the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation) and that we are receiving from credible witnesses,” Lawson said. “We’re still being very active with it. It’s ongoing, it’s very intense, and it’s not cold at all.”

Lawson said the investigation, however, continues to be hampered by false information on social media.

“We’re getting calls in our office, and I’m sure TBI is getting them, and we’re getting emails from people concerned about things going on on social media and not true facts,” Lawson said. “It’s plain and simple. If they don’t hear it from me, or the TBI, it’s not true.”

The post stated many people have asked for an update on the case, and while law enforcement does not have any significant developments to share, Lawson wanted to reassure the public that the investigation is very much active.

I wish they would stop ranting and talking to YouTubers, but in the end it maybe doesn't matter, because they will be crucified anyway. Of course with their past (especially DW) they are the perfect people to be picked to shreds on social media. But this should be all about little Summer, and I really hope they got nothing to do with her disappearance.

I think they are focusing on the most likely suspects. Their behavior and other things throw up red flags to me. That's my opinion, But I am not going shove it down people's throat. I can respectfully disagree unless someone attacks me.

I actually agree, lol. But it also makes me mad how people on youtube and JT(just for example) judge them without the evidence. I feel very bad for Summer' s brothers, but at least they are protected from this madness for now.

I remember the mother of another missing child being attacked really badly in social media and I think it was Somer Thompson’s mom? I couldn’t understand why the masses were accusing her because when I saw her pleading for her daughters life, she seemed real to me.
Yes. Unlike Susan Smith who appeared fake from the beginning. Fake crying. Her story. Didn't take long to find out the truth.

I always have to think of Heidi Broussard, her boyfriend was also picked apart online and had nothing to do with it.
The Wells family doesn't seem like criminal masterminds to me, so IF they have something to do with it I am quite sure LE is on top of this.
Not masterminds, No. But it doesn't take one to commit a crime. It is really quiet right now, Which could mean they are keeping the evidence quiet that they have. I'll have to look up Heidi's case.

Well they dig into any suspect's background and he does have a disturbing one.

O.K. Heidi. Yeah. Her best friend of over 20.yrs she net at church camp killed her to steal her 2 wk old baby. WTH?! That little girl is so cute. Thank God she wanted her for her own and didn't hurt her. The damage she did already left 2 kids without a mother. I don't understand how people like that think they are going to get away with it.

Three months and around 1,200 tips later, TBI says there is no update on Summer Wells

It’s been three months since Summer Wells was reported missing from her home on Ben Hill Road in the Beech Creek community of Hawkins County.

“We don’t have any updates to provide other than to say the investigation remains active and ongoing,” said TBI Spokesperson Leslie Earhart in a statement to News Channel 11. “Agents and detectives with the Hawkins County Sheriff’s Office continue to work daily to determine what happened to Summer Wells. We ask those with credible information to call 1-800-TBI-FIND. We’ve received around 1200 tips in the search for Summer.”

Her parents didn’t return calls or respond to messages from News Channel 11 and no trespassing signs have been posted around their home.

Family friends also declined to be interviewed.

Well, this is incredibly disheartening, 😕

From the interviews I’ve seen, I felt like her dad was being honest…the rest of the family, I don’t know…
and just another random comment. They lived in absolute bumble F!! If she was lost in those woods, she might not ever be found. Same as far as if someone snatched her and took her somewhere in the woods. But, I guess they feel confident her last location was the main road, where the dogs lost her scent.

I don't think I've seen these pics of Summer (particularly the first), but I may have missed them.
