Madera 2-year-old missing, Police Chief: 'We're not ruling anything out'

The Madera Police Department held a news conference Wednesday afternoon where Police Chief Dino Lawson said he has reached out to the FBI who is assisting with the investigation into the disappearance of 2-year-old Thaddeus Sran.

When asked why there has been no Amber Alert issued, Chief Lawson said, "We're not there yet."

The chief also said the Madera County Sheriff's Department is also assisting with the investigation.

"Everything is on the table. We're looking at everything. We're not ruling anything out," said Chief Lawson.

Police say the 2-year-old child went missing overnight from his home on “C” Street sometime between 10:00 p.m. Tuesday and 8:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Thaddeus was born premature and has a feeding tube and is non-verbal.

Thaddeus did recently learn to walk and it's unknown if he was able to walk away or if he was taken.

Police say Thaddeus needs special care and needs to be reunited with his family as soon as possible.

He was last seen wearing a red shirt and Spiderman pants with a diaper underneath. He is approximately two feet tall and weighs 30 pounds.

Police are looking into the possibility that Thaddeus was abducted.

Madera County Sheriff’s Office, US Marshall’s, Federal Bureau of Investigations, and Madera County Probation are assisting with a search and investigation.

In a comment in a social media area, I saw someone who said they were familiar with Madera too and that person said that it was hard core prostitution and bars in that area and made it clear she or he did not mean in a minor amount, etc. She said it was a bad area. I was not entirely sure if she meant the address/home area or the city of Madera itself.

Do you have any idea on that? I did look up population and I see it is not a large town/city population wise anyhow...

Madera Police Department continues to ask for help from the public to locate Thaddeus Sran, a two-year-old boy who was reported missing from a residence located on the 800 block of South C street on the morning of July 15, 2020. Anyone with information that may help locate Thaddeus is urged to call 559-675-4220.
Thaddeus stands approximately two feet tall, weighs approximately 30 pounds, and was wearing a red shirt with Spiderman pants over a diaper at the time he was put to bed by his parents on the evening of July 14, 2020. He has special needs and requires medical care to include nutrients provided via a feeding tube.
An Amber Alert was not issued for the case as no vehicle information was available. If any residents in the immediate vicinity have video from home surveillance cameras that may show vehicles in the area between 10 p.m. on June 14, 2020, and 8:30 a.m. on June 15, 2020, the investigative team urges you to call 559-675-4220.

The above was recent, just a bit ago. This picture shows him a bit bigger than I pictured him and perhaps he has more agility than I thought.

However, I still do not see what possibly happened here--none of it makes much sense... It still seems to be no type of Amber Alert or abduction but just searching in the area.

Wouldn't a likely barefoot child who is just walking be unsteady at best on the street, and at night, particularly? One would think there would be scratches, blood from falls, and trips, etc. and that he would at best be sitting crying and hungry... By daylight for sure...

Not sure if it is true but read one comment that the home is entirely fenced. If that is the case, this is even more difficult to understand.

Very quiet day with all of these children, King, Thaddeus (this one), Breasia... I do not see how kids the age of any of this are surviving in any way on their own, that's for sure...

Officials continue to search for a missing 2-year-old Madera boy as they seek home surveillance video from the public near his home around the time of his disappearance.

In their search for Thaddeus Sran, 2, who went missing Wednesday morning, Madera Police urged any residents near 800 C Street for any surveillance video that may show vehicles in the area between 10 p.m. Tuesday and 8:30 a.m. Wednesday to call 559-675-4220.

Officers and other agencies, including the FBI, are searching a one-mile radius from the Sran residence for the child.


“Everyone is concerned for Thaddeus’ welfare, especially since he requires specialized care that few are equipped to provide,” Lawson said. “We cannot imagine what Thaddeus’ parents are going through and all agencies involved are focused on the effort to locate Thaddeus and ensure that anyone who may be responsible for his disappearance faces justice.”

It is, isn't it? It broadened my perspective a bit. He looks healthier and more fit than the other pictures had me thinking. Smiling, looks engaged and is clearly fed well enough.... I can look at this picture and imagine him being active and perhaps and possibly he could get out...

I have not changed my thought that something is very wrong here and just does not fit but this picture is a far cry (I think) from some of the others...

Yeah. I still don't see him getting out of the house (opening a door?), getting outside, and getting out of his fenced-in yard (opening a gate?).
No outcries from investigators to keep an eye out for Thaddeus, search properties, nothing. Just looking for surveillance from that time. Like they're looking for something specific?

But on the other hand, we've heard NOTHING about or from the family. Nothing such as, even "the family is cooperating". Why is no one asking that question? You hear that question ALL THE TIME. Where is the media in this case pushing for those answers? Hell, even in Olivia Jansen's case, they said her father "was cooperating" when he was guilty as hell. But no comments about the family whatsoever here. 🤷‍♀️

I personally think our media and true investigators hardly exist anymore nor travel to the scene, etc. (some do but it is much different these days). I guess also investigators are learning to keep quiet because of what social media can do (or quieter in some cases). And also, possibly media has been in trouble at times for affecting a case...? I don't know either... I guess all areas differ too...

In the Sebastian Castro case, I felt very similar, the father was quoted a couple of times, the mother to my knowledge never said a word and I think a sister said something one time maybe. LE said nothing about the family much one way or the other except in the beginning to please respect their privacy... Or try to...

I agree, in this case, we don't even know the circumstances but I guess it is not as people say LE's job to inform the public necessarily. But if they want true tips, SOME info can help... This family has said nothing from anything I have seen, the children have said nothing, we don't know who was home with this child, when, for how long, etc. Was he sleeping on the couch, in a room or in a crib? In a room with siblings or alone?

It does always stand out to me to a point when they don't clear the parents. If you go (sure you have been) to the PD site on FB, most are thinking as we likely are... It doesn't fit with a special needs child... Entirely different type of case but to this day it is notable to me that LE has not once confirmed Barry Morphews story of Denver, where he was and when. Not once. He or his family claim so or have said so but NOT LE.

And like all of us this one is ringing some bells of other cases. Doesn't mean they are the same or it is right, but the minute it came out that they just recently moved there, that was a big alarm bell to me and brought a few other cases to mind...

A recent one was the army woman and her daughter, was the girl's name Taylor, I can't think of it offhand? She had one child... She too had recently moved and I think thought that covered her tracks... I am sure LE is doing it and not telling us but just like with Olivia's case too, I would bet LE here is checking the area of wherever the former residence, etc. of this family was just a few weeks ago....

All just speculation and thoughts...

speaking from knowledge given by a seasoned reporter one time, there is much that they are told and are told NOT to publish but are told about so when they might be out interviewing people, certain things can be reported to LE that that person has knowledge of (fill in the blank) info.

As authorities continue to search for a missing toddler, the boy’s family is offering a reward for any information to his whereabouts.

Meanwhile, Madera Police say there have been no major breaks in the case yet. Sran’s uncle, Jujhar “Junior” Singh, said the family believes the child was abducted.

It’s been a rough couple of days for Sran’s family. Singh said all of the boy’s medical conditions — like the fact he eats through a feeding tube — have them particularly worried.

They want him back with his parents ASAP.

“For just being two-years-old, he’s already been through so much. Even though he’s only two, he’s going to remember [this situation] and it will scar him,” Singh said.

The urgency has caused the family to create a $5,000 reward for information to find Sran.

It is so hard to know in this one. This family may be truly devastated but it just makes no sense. I did read in at least one article that the "parents" went to bed at 10, etc. That does not even assure me of anything because I can't tell you how long in some cases more than just I thought a parent was a biological parent of a child and was not and in some cases was not even a stepparent by marriage... However, news stated it like that was the case... And in other cases as well.

As you said who is offering the reward? Which family member but then there too it really would not tell us anything. Consider the Morphew case. Reward offered yet most suspect him...

I just cannot picture this child abducted or abducted easily with no one hearing it, noticing it, etc. The only abduction I could possibly see is if there is another parent or grandparent on another side that is unhappy or worried about this child being where he is/was.

I just don't believe in children this young getting out of the home on their own and then by the coincidence of all coincidences, part two, a stranger sees him and abducts him. That has to be two things that just happen to have to have happened individually...

I want to stop there as this family may well be entirely devastated. Even then though it does not mean there may not be one who is playing another... I would very well like to know why they just moved, from where etc.

I understand so well. I judge, I try not to and then I guilt myself for doing so but then come on...? Then I realize no one lives someone else's lives and say to myself don't judge. But then I look at the few facts we have again and no, I just don't get it.... I do not understand...

People do make mistakes, things do happen, children can be amazingly agile and unaware of danger...

Even so, this one makes no sense. None.

Just a few short years ago I would have claimed the opposite and was the type to look (still do) for any answer that could bring hope a child or even an adult was alive... Most scenarios in most cases are pretty far fetched and take way too many things falling perfectly in place than likely for that to usually be the case...

For instance, like an abduction here... He just happened to get out. Then one person just happened to see him who took the opportunity to abduct him versus probably the thousands he could have ran into or have seen him that would call LE and say I have a small child here who seems to be without parents and is crying or whatever... Just those two things, the odds are just too unlikely...

Was the door open? I am not doubting you just wondering if I missed that? I am not up on having read all.

About the open door, I thought I read it in an article, but now I 'm not sure....😳, will have a look again!
