Starting in January 2020, this thread is about the news as it breaks!

Bernard Madoff says he is dying and is asking a judge for compassionate release from prison, where he is serving 150 years for orchestrating the largest Ponzi scheme in history, according to a Wednesday federal court filing.

Madoff, 81, has terminal kidney failure and a life expectancy of less than 18 months. When the court sentenced him, “it was clear that Madoff’s 150-year prison sentence was symbolic for three reasons: retribution, deterrence, and for the victims,” the court filing states. “This Court must now consider whether keeping Madoff incarcerated … is truly in furtherance of statutory sentencing goals and our society’s value and understanding of compassion.”

Madoff said in the request for compassionate release that he “does not dispute the severity of his crimes.”

So I hadn't watched the tail end of Scott's video above yet where he has the Dumb Criminal Contestant of the Day (and there is a winner each week of the bunch...)...

Well wow. A guy's credit card is declined at a convenience store... So he whips it out and starts urinating all over the snacks in the aisle... He has two friends with who start cheering him for doing such... The clerk started recording it... And on to top of all that, he/they go to leave and just I guess to show his upset at the store(?), he grabs some snacks to take with him, some of the very ones he had urinated all over...

Wouldn't you be proud to be that guy's mother (or that of his friends)...?

It isn't even Friday yet and I think they may have their winner of the dumb criminal contestant of the week....

What's just as worrisome is they have no problem finding one each day.... Never a shortage I don't think....

I don't care what they are and the content on the laptop/facts and associations are what they are regardless. They are talking about Russia and him in relation to this (and far more of course, China, etc.) and it was news and so I posted it here.

Feel free to post a left or unbiased channel. I don't go actively look for any of them but I'll read or listen to both and take all in. I feel it wiser to do that than just believe ones that lean only in one direction. Sadly that's what many seem to do. Personally, I think it's dangerous.

That's all I'm saying too is take in from various sources but not telling anyone to do so. Just posting what others in the world are listening to or hearing which I think is important and good to know and be aware of. And for comparison purposes.

I say it almost every time. I don't like most politicians on either side and consider most the same. And I think it is quite established in most threads including crime ones that are not political that I'm not a fan of our media and/or reporting these days.

I try to keep any remark general or related to the article/news.

Just my two cents and my generic opinion.

Also, they are ignoring the fact that it was originally claimed that his computer had child porn on it. Which it doesn't. Fox News refused to run with the laptop story when it came out because it was so hinky.

When the Washington Post was able to get their hands on a copy of the laptops hard drive they did an exhaustive authentication process of the hard drive and reported the truth about it. Bannon wouldn't hand over a copy of computer hard drive despite being asked repeatedly. So the narrative that major news outlets are ignoring it is completely false.

I have posted WP. And I'm not a real fan of any of them and am not of Fox either, I don't watch that, I don't watch CNN, I don't watch MSNBC, etc. I don't "do" cable news.

Do you see me arguing with you? All can make up their own mind on what is fact but I don't see harm in having several sources to try to determine what is fact and what is not.

Most likely the truth falls somewhere in between the fanatical left or right opinions and overboard denial or assertions.

Here are a few likely indisputed facts: Hunter Biden is the US President's adult son. Hunter Biden owned a laptop. Any arguments with these?

In other words, no comment as to what you claim or don't or believe or don't. I honestly haven't had time to look into all of it and so I'm still forming opinions but I do know some things from over many years although I have to refresh to recall all. I likely will one day. Even then, I'm guessing I won't discuss it much here as we aren't supposed to.

Like it or not, this story is playing into this war...

I do believe that there is something hinky with the emails. However, I don't like it when they twist the truth about nobody wanting to report on it until now. I also don't like that Fox News doesn't say they passed on airing the story when it first came out because it was too hinky, even for them. I also don't like how nobody is bringing up the lie about there being child porn on it.

So it's not surprising that it took a lot of work to authenticate the hard drive. It sure as hades looked like it was completely bogus.

Again, I don't know.

I will say I don't like it when any news decides what they want us to hear or not hear and most all of who we have mentioned have total biases and agendas. And when SM giants like F B and T-er are added to what is allowed or not, people are not making informed decisions and how can they.

Most of these SM platforms have long been known to be extremely one sided and they have faced issues over it before however they just continue.

Now I don't like fake news or "allegedlys", "reportedlys" or it is "claimed" BUT I can also decide that and whether or not I want to believe it...

Finally, to stay out of the political fire, one thing that DOES bother me is it wouldn't bother most of these media sources ONE BIT if the "hinky" stuff was about someone they disliked or didn't support, etc. near an election for instance--in fact they'd RACE to put it on the news... So I do have an opinion as to one-sidedness of many of them and we all know as you said yourself earlier, various well known outlets are know as far lefties or far righties, etc.

And for me? That ISN'T news. That's OPINION or shaping news. Bias in either direction, etc.

The one I posted about the other day, Lauren Pazienza, who shoved the 87 year old elderly woman resulting in her death that apparently comes from "affluence" and went on the run but then turned herself in and was arrested...? Well her mother paid her $500,000 bail with a check three days in... I'm guessing she needed those days to move money maybe or it was a weekend or she probably would have bailed her out immediately....? Jmo, just saying...

Interestingly, I thought her mother/parents were charged or going to be as it was found they were hiding her or she was hiding out at her parents' Long Island Estate...

This one may just need to go in one of those new threads... So far seeming to be a case of that affluenza, a chronic illness that doesn't get much attention despite the fact the strains remain in the states... Again just saying...

I kind of wonder if a fight spilled out from a bar or something? I could see cars going by in one video so I'm guessing the street was open for traffic. I dunno.
