Bernard Madoff says he is dying and is asking a judge for compassionate release from prison, where he is serving 150 years for orchestrating the largest Ponzi scheme in history, according to a Wednesday federal court filing.

Madoff, 81, has terminal kidney failure and a life expectancy of less than 18 months. When the court sentenced him, “it was clear that Madoff’s 150-year prison sentence was symbolic for three reasons: retribution, deterrence, and for the victims,” the court filing states. “This Court must now consider whether keeping Madoff incarcerated … is truly in furtherance of statutory sentencing goals and our society’s value and understanding of compassion.”

Madoff said in the request for compassionate release that he “does not dispute the severity of his crimes.”

Yeah it doesn't really fit their store "name" any longer does it...? Of course five and dimes didn't stay five and dimes either... They had other store names however.

Not sure what they mean by on some of their items... There are probably things that do not need to be increased where manufacturers or suppliers have not increased the price. Even though I don't like higher prices, I'm not sure I wouldn't prefer they keep all items the same price so raise them all to $1.25...

When are the price increases in many markets going to stop and what is being done about inflation...

I bet very much so with that. I am noticing it with basically everything and if it continues, there are going to be big problems and I think there already are.

Every time I leave the house I find I am in sticker shock or so it seems... Dollar Tree going up 25c is nothing at all compared to far bigger items taking a far bigger bite from people with increased prices.

They sometimes don't say it's custody but I guess I'm just thinking four kids are pretty noticeable, they were walking and they maybe walked somewhere of course and thinking maybe friends, a grandparent, an uncle's house (destination?) and that person might not even know they are missing... Best case scenario of course... That they are inside and with someone...

Where is St. Anthony as to part of the Cities and what kind of area is it?

They were found safe on Sunday by Burnsville police.That's far. They gave no further info. From me it's 18ish miles
I go 35W North to New Brighton Blvd and then my aunt lived on St.Anthony Blvd.

I just looked it up. St.Anthony to Burnsville is 24 miles. Burnsville is next suburb to me to the south. Dakota county line. I am in Hennepin county. I still think they went to someone's house they were familiar with. Especially way out here. I don't see any other reason. And they didn't walk there and they left on foot.

Yeah, something is up with that distance, they had help apparently. I doubt we will hear what the deal was. Glad they are safe though.

I hadn't heard of this flash mob thing with theft until this. My sister was here and I mentioned this post to her and she was not thrilled to hear this either. She IS glad she is out of the Cities after so many years there.
