Bernard Madoff says he is dying and is asking a judge for compassionate release from prison, where he is serving 150 years for orchestrating the largest Ponzi scheme in history, according to a Wednesday federal court filing.

Madoff, 81, has terminal kidney failure and a life expectancy of less than 18 months. When the court sentenced him, “it was clear that Madoff’s 150-year prison sentence was symbolic for three reasons: retribution, deterrence, and for the victims,” the court filing states. “This Court must now consider whether keeping Madoff incarcerated … is truly in furtherance of statutory sentencing goals and our society’s value and understanding of compassion.”

Madoff said in the request for compassionate release that he “does not dispute the severity of his crimes.”

I know. And the headline says boys. It almost sounds as if the boys groomed though were separate from those at sleepovers or a different type of charge perhaps and it says "also" as if they were additional and/or separate. Who lets their young 12 and 13 year old sons stay over at an 11 year old girl's house for a sleepover which is why I also wonder if they have it all correct... Either way she is disgusting.

I was wondering that too. Who has boys at a girls sleepover?.

Tragic and it is all on him no doubt. I do give him credit for trying to help and not fleeing. I also don't think camping out near traffic is probably the best idea.

I watched this entire trial, it was televised at the time. Imo that man is flat out guilty. It is not as well known as some but he belongs right up there with the evil ones better known who killed their wives... The defense was and is ludicrous--that she did this to herself to frame him. They had two young sons as I recall. He, as many do, trashed her after death as well...
