ONGOING CRIME BREAKING NEWS!

Starting in January 2020, this thread is about the news as it breaks!

Bernard Madoff says he is dying and is asking a judge for compassionate release from prison, where he is serving 150 years for orchestrating the largest Ponzi scheme in history, according to a Wednesday federal court filing.

Madoff, 81, has terminal kidney failure and a life expectancy of less than 18 months. When the court sentenced him, “it was clear that Madoff’s 150-year prison sentence was symbolic for three reasons: retribution, deterrence, and for the victims,” the court filing states. “This Court must now consider whether keeping Madoff incarcerated … is truly in furtherance of statutory sentencing goals and our society’s value and understanding of compassion.”

Madoff said in the request for compassionate release that he “does not dispute the severity of his crimes.”

IMO- stay in jail

Authorities are trying to track down a man who went missing during his own murder trial.

According to the Harris County District Attorney's Office, Stephen Chaney was out on bond and cut off his ankle monitor a day before testimony was set to start.

Chaney has a pending case in Louisiana for allegedly stalking and threatening his ex-girlfriend, 21-year-old Claudia Leiva, while she was pregnant with their child.

The woman he murdered in Harris County was allegedly also an ex-lover.

Boyfriend was playing hide and seek. Uhhh...Way back in 2020. Geez. Another woman was just found in a suitcase in an abandoned homeless camp's garbage heap. Last seen approximately a year ago. There's been several. Treated like garbage.
Oh and I haven't followed it but have picked up on some that cover this one when they are covering others that I do follow and she has pushed her sh*t with court to the end of patience... Pulled every b.s. stunt in the book...

Never did pick up an interest in it when it happened but can't recall why. Thinking wasn't making much news or if it did I was in the midst of trying to stay up with a trial or other cases going on at the time or some such, or just a busy time.

But I PITY the judge stuck with he and this case. Last I knew he (think it is a he, not sure_) was done with her. She's wanted new public defenders, then gets new, doesn't want them, then wanted to defend herself, then complained she needed attorneys... Don't quote me exactly but approximate sh*t on that order...

I know little about the bf or why he'd fall for getting into a suitcase and trust this psychopath. Or about the relationship. Or the dynamics. The reason I know anything is a few I have followed on other cases also covered this one/cover this one and headlines. Clearly no one else here did either because I don't think there's ever been a thread. I also don't think it started out really being covered if I recall.. Until someone picked it up or someone got a few to do so...

Anyhow, it started out quiet, I was busy or it didn't interest me when it happened or something.

I end up in most cases over someone missing quite honestly. A woman or especially children.

I see there's a few new threads on children in the last week or so but I said I'm not taking on new ones here and I'm not. Others have made decisions more than once I am not in agreement with and I've made mine.

I'm going to see out the ones I started but only because of friends here. And IF I end up following a new one, elsewhere, hear of it on news or see it on YT and there ends up being a thread here, then I will probably do that but that's it.

It's really difficult for me to not look at recent missing kids't threads but I'm doing it. Makes me feel guilty for their sake but for every one here, there's probably 100 more a day out there.

Anyhow, yeah, this suitcase one I never really followed but do know the basics because of all I just said above and over time.

Plus I'm dialing down on the ones I used to go follow or go into.

I'll never lose touch with you and many others though. I mean I will hunt you down if I have to lol.

Too busy anyhow, no time.

Later, gf! As I've said more than once in the past week or two, good to see you on cases threads lately!! I used to want to give some activity for the sake of the victim, the case and the families that don't get enough but I've cut back on that too. But always glad to if you are or someone else is interested and in there and there's some interest or activity.

FRIDAY. In that town in between. This WEEK! I consider you family so you are of course welcomed!

They allowed him out. NICE!!! He ran once before. WTH?!!!. That is a dangerous POS that will most likely do anything to keep from getting caught.

When will they learn, their ridiculous and dangerous little experiment has FAILED and crime is rampant as is murder. OUT ON BOND?? Cut off the ankle bracelet? Murder? Yet had BOND??? Ran before?? Recall that judge and get your sh*t together you idiots--NOW!!!

As far as stalking a pregnant ex, we know how that goes. Nothing will be done to him until something actually happens and she ends up dead re that one.

Totally not shocking from stories I've heard from people that worked there.

Now wondering if this is a spin-off from the Diddy investigation or if there are just that many creeps out there. Very likely both in my opinion.

I agree that there are more. It's sickening. Because of celebrity status, Money, Power, They think they can get away with anything. Unfortunately they do for awhile.

LA County District Attorney George Gascon is reviewing a petition for a new trial in connection with the 1989 murder in Beverly Hills of Jose and Kitty Menendez by their sons Lyle and Erik, filed by the brothers’ lawyers this week citing new evidence.

“We have received the habeas petition in the Menendez matter and it’s currently under review,” Gascon’s spokesman Greg Risling said in a statement.

This is the first response from Gascon’s office to the petition, filed in L.A. Superior Court by attorneys, Mark Geragos (co-owner of Engine Vision Media, parent company of Los Angeles) and Cliff Gardner.

According to the writ, “newly discovered evidence directly supports the defense presented at trial and just as directly undercuts the state’s case against petitioner.” The attorneys argue that the new evidence could have led to a different outcome at trial had it been presented in the brothers’ defense.

Guilty. They are where they belong.

I DO NOT WANT THEM RELEASED! However, if they are released, they've at least served 30 years.

Kim Kardashian is doing what she can to get them released. She's such a good judge of character.
