Bernard Madoff says he is dying and is asking a judge for compassionate release from prison, where he is serving 150 years for orchestrating the largest Ponzi scheme in history, according to a Wednesday federal court filing.

Madoff, 81, has terminal kidney failure and a life expectancy of less than 18 months. When the court sentenced him, “it was clear that Madoff’s 150-year prison sentence was symbolic for three reasons: retribution, deterrence, and for the victims,” the court filing states. “This Court must now consider whether keeping Madoff incarcerated … is truly in furtherance of statutory sentencing goals and our society’s value and understanding of compassion.”

Madoff said in the request for compassionate release that he “does not dispute the severity of his crimes.”

They have arrested the mother of the one in KC and the one in Indep doesn't really have any info other mother and child found safe. Sounds like two totally separate incidents, but we've seen stranger things happen.

Now the mother has been released without being charged and child is under the care of CPS, so I'm thinking there is a LOT more to the story and lots of drama in this child's life. :sigh:

Hmm. So there was nothing to charge her with but enough to put the child with CPS. Seems a bit odd. Maybe a custody dispute and she claims she took the child from a custodial guardian or parent for safety's sake and they are investigating and leaving the child with neither? Just a total guess...

Maybe just not enough to be comfortable with charges at the moment. A LOT of people are released PFI (pending further investigation) because the clock starts ticking on cases once charges are levied.

All I can figure is she must have had a valid reason or excuse is my guess and the main one I can think of is she had reason to fear for her safety. OR she was at someone else's home, did she NOT take her but they thought she was involved with the person who did perhaps? And she was not?
 
You know, I would sure like to know who called for help for her wounds, never mentioning dead children. Did SHE call for help for herself? I don't think I have to put into words what I think of that...
