THOMAS VALVA: New York vs. Michael Valva & Angela Pollina for murder of 8-year-old son *GUILTY*

This is one of those child cases that are hard to read about. However, for some reason it is not getting much MSM coverage and little from Youtubers as well, I am unsure why since it certainly has, sadly, the elements to make it major news. It is not a new case but again, it is not getting a whole lot of coverage.

This article today is not the start of the case by any means. It does give a bit of a recap though. Read to the ending, the end says plenty about the two charged just with those remarks...

ALERT CENTER: Federal judge allows part of lawsuit filed in Thomas Valva death to proceed

News 12 Long Island has learned a federal judge has allowed parts of the $200 million lawsuit filed by the mother of 8-year-old Thomas Valva to proceed.

A federal judge says the lawsuit Thomas’ mother Justina filed has adequately alleged Suffolk County’s failure to train CPS employees and it violated her constitutional rights.

Justina is suing the county and several CPS employees.

Thomas died in 2020 after prosecutors say he was forced to sleep in a freezing outdoor garage by his father Michael and his then fiancée Angela Pollina.
Both are awaiting trial after being charged with murder.
i am fully in support of this lawsuit. This mother desperately tried EVERYTHING to get help and tell them what was going on. She reached out to everyone she can think of from famous people to politicians all the way up the ladder to every agency, etc. AND no one helped her and her son was being abused by his own father and sick gf and died a horrible death and it is FORTUNATE his brother is still alive who ALSO suffered abuse and probably suffers serious effects from such trauma.

Jury selection begins in Thomas Valva murder trial

Jury selection began in Riverhead for the murder trial of 8-year-old Thomas Valva on Wednesday.

Michael Valva, 43, and his ex-fiancé Angela Pollina pleaded not guilty to murder and multiple counts of endangering the welfare of a child.

Two juries will be selected because the two defendants - who will stand trial together - are blaming each other for the alleged crimes.

Though jury selection began Wednesday, it is estimated that the entire process will take about a month.

According to the judge presiding over the case, the trial to follow could take another three months.

If convicted, they will receive 25 years to life in prison.

How apt each blaming the other. They are both evil, despicable, disgusting people. Funny how fast this soured their relationship...

Typical SCUM. Throw away the key.

Jury chosen for father on trial over death of Thomas Valva

A jury has been chosen in the case against an ex-NYPD officer accused of causing the death of his 8-year-old son.

Eight women and four men will make up the jury against Michael Valva, who police say forced his son Thomas Valva to sleep in an unheated garage in a Center Moriches home.

Opening statements are expected to begin in two weeks.

Opening statements begin in Thomas Valva murder trial

Opening statements started Wednesday in the Thomas Valva murder trial.

The prosecution said Michael Valva for months repeatedly kept his two special-needs sons, Thomas and his 10-year-old brother Anthony, in their unheated garage to sleep without bedding.

Prosecutors say the abuse happened for years, and that the children were "slapped, punched and thrown downstairs - showing up to school with scratches and bruises."

The defense team told the jury that the 43-year-old's fiancee at the time, Angela Pollina, was giving the father a hard time about his son's medical and special need issues.

Michael Valva's attorney, Anthony La Pinta, asked the jury to step into his shoes during this time, stating his client was not financially stable and wanted to make things work between his kids and appease his fiancee. La Pinta also claimed that his client did not think his children would die from the conditions they were living in.

"However troubling, however regretful his words and actions were towards his boys, still doesn't amount to murder," La Pinta said.

They are both going to blame the other from what I understand. Typical. NEITHER is innocent in this and there is plenty on both of them. The boys' mother begged and pleaded for help from anyone who would listen and those who wouldn't and many NY agencies have a lot to answer for imo. She knew it and the boys told of it and yet custody was taken from her! his s

The school knew it although I believe they tried to get something done about it if my memory serves.

These boys were abused by their OWN father and his disgusting sweetie pie. They taunted and almost laughed at the mother being unable to do anything about it but she NEVER quit trying! It took Thomas' death to get the brother at least put back with her!

‘He had no emotion’: Alleged Ex-cop Killer Dad Showed No Feelings as Thomas Valva Lay Dying, Forced to Sleep in Unheated Garage

A former NYPD cop on trial for allegedly killing his 8-year-old son reportedly showed “no emotion” as first responders tried to save the child from dying, a paramedic told the court Thursday.

“He had no emotion, no sense of concern,” paramedic Erin Lambert told the jury on Thursday, at the Riverhead courtroom, adding that murder suspect Michael Valva “kind of stood in the background the entire time.”

Prosecutors told the jury that Thomas and his 10-year-old brother Anthony suffered years of abuse at the hands of their father, often arriving at school with bruises and scratching — and hungry.

“They were observed at school literally eating crumbs off the floor,” assistant Suffolk County District Attorney Laura Newcombe said.

Newcombe also related a text Valva sent to his now ex-fiancée, 45-year-old Angela Pollina.

“I will beat them until they bleed,” he wrote, according to Newcombe. “It is the only thing that works.”

Valva’s attorney laid the blame at Pollina’s feet, saying she constantly told him he was being too lenient with the boys and that Valva was desperate to make things work. He painted her as the wicked stepmother.

Thomas Valva: Detective Says Autopsy Results Changed Case from Non-criminal to Murder for Cop Dad Accused of Killing Autistic Sonhttps://www.crimeonline.com/author/legan/

A New York detective testified Tuesday during Michael Valva’s murder trial that injuries found on the defendant’s slain autistic son during an autopsy changed the course of the investigation.

According to Detective Michael Ronca with the Suffolk police, an autopsy performed after 8-year-old Thomas’ death revealed injuries to his forehead and face. Newsday reports Ronca said that although the injuries were superficial, the case became a criminal investigation afterward.

It changed at that point from a non-criminal investigation to a criminal investigation,” Ronca testified Tuesday at the Riverhead court in Suffolk County, NY.

As CrimeOnline previously reported, 43-year-old Michael Valva, who’s accused of killing his son, told a 911 dispatcher on January 17, 2020, that Thomas had fallen on his face and lost consciousness.

Valva, however, allegedly forced Thomas to sleep in an unheated garage in sub-freezing temperatures at their Long Island home, ultimately leading to the child’s death. The boy allegedly had no mattress and was forced to sleep on the bare concrete floor.

Painting her as a wicked stepmother and him accepting that while being their father and a supposed adult, does not paint him in the light he seems to think it should. That makes it even worse in my mind.

He is no better than her. He taunted the mother and was every bit a part of it. He I think took delight in her knowing they were abused by him and that no one would listen to her. Even IF the "stepmother" was a huge part of it, HE is no shrinking violet that had to go along with her. They are disgusting depraved individuals. Quite honestly, I think his "cop" status bought him custody and everything else in the local NY courts. And yet he was no major cop. Some kind of rent a cop or traffic cop I think. Not that it matters, he thought he was untouchable though and that no one would listen to the mother and he was right. And Thomas died at his hands.

Thomas Valva's teacher testifies she felt father tried to intimidate her over email

Thomas Valva's third grade teacher testified Tuesday that she felt Michael Valva tried to intimidate her in email communications she had with him.

Kelli Wilson said that the former NYPD officer was "more interested in reporting bad things about Thomas."

The teacher said that she was concerned every day about what how much food Thomas Valva had in his lunchbox.

Wilson testified that she thought the 8-year-old looked thin but did not weigh him in fears of irritating the child's father.

Sgt. Norberto Flores, the lead detective in the Thomas Valva case, also testified Tuesday.

He noted that the child had a thin build with abrasions to the head, elbows, knees and buttocks.

Flores also said he saw video of Anthony Valva and Thomas Valva shivering on the concrete garage floor from the day before Thomas Valva died.

He said there was a series of videos of the brothers in the garage.

Defense attorney John LoTurco says they are trying to focus the jurors' attention on Michael Valva being a parent who participated in his children's lives because the top charge is a depraved murder charge.

"He did not want his children to perish in the garage. No matter the circumstances, no matter how bad it was, he did not want them to die and they will not be able to establish the depraved murder count," LoTurco says.

Defense attorneys anger me. Depraved murder against the father AND her most definitely fits in this case. Participate in their lives? He couldn't even house or feed them. Seeing RED.

This is a horrible case and the kids had a horrible life with these two.

I don't like alot of defense attorneys either. IDK how they can represent some of these scumbags. In the worst cases they have the most ridiculous defense reasons.

He shouldn't. A policeman killing his own son. You failed in the worst way possible to "Uphold the law".
Yeah and the fact he was a policeman I think helped him. He intimidated and also used it. It makes him even worse and those that didn't listen in the system even worse.

And I don't believe he was much more than a traffic cop or some such...

I guess someone has to represent them but it takes a different sort of breed imo. I couldn't do it unless I believed in my client's innocence. There is no way in this case any reasonable person could believe such.

Lead detective in Thomas Valva murder case says father cried at end of interview following son's death

Michael Valva's defense attorneys questioned Tuesday the lead detective who investigated the murder of Thomas Valva.

Sgt. Norberto Flores went to Long Island Community Hospital and the Valva home on the day the 8-year-old died.

Flores interviewed both the father and his ex-fiancee Angela Polina separately. He said they both told him at the hospital that Thomas Valva fell.

He also said that Michael Valva had cried at the end of the interview and put his head in his hands.

Both Michael Valva and Polina told the detective that none of the other children saw Thomas Valva the day he died, Flores said.

The prosecution claims that couldn't be true because a child can be heard in surveillance video from that day asking why Thomas Valva couldn't walk and another child asking if they should get Thomas Valva a granola bar to eat.

Is he trying to say his client was too stupid to be a parent? How many parents don't know your child can die from being too cold for too long?

How does the other children being on tape inquiring about Thomas proves they last saw him that particular day? What it does prove is that the children were more concerned about him than the "parents".

I recall hearing this some time back. I had forgotten about it. I also forgot but now that I think about it yeah, they had a couple kids together I think or she had kids and those kids got to be in the house and were treated well but the two boys from his first marriage were put in the garage, abused, etc. I mean these two are nothing but evil.

As for his crying, I have no doubt it was because he was caught in his lies and someone finally gave a sh*t and he finally was going to pay consequences.
