THOMAS VALVA: New York vs. Michael Valva & Angela Pollina for murder of 8-year-old son *GUILTY*

This is one of those child cases that are hard to read about. However, for some reason it is not getting much MSM coverage and little from Youtubers as well, I am unsure why since it certainly has, sadly, the elements to make it major news. It is not a new case but again, it is not getting a whole lot of coverage.

This article today is not the start of the case by any means. It does give a bit of a recap though. Read to the ending, the end says plenty about the two charged just with those remarks...

LONG ISLAND, NY — Defense attorney Matthew Tuohy, representing Angela Pollina — former fiancée of Michael Valva, an ex-NYPD officer convicted of murder in the death of his 8-year-old son Thomas, who died of hypothermia after being forced to sleep in his father's frigid garage — was emotional Thursday after concluding his summation.

Speaking with the press after he addressed the jury, Tuohy had tears in his eyes.

"It's emotional," he said. "She's fighting for her life. It's in God's hands now."

<snip>
Tuohy has long maintained that Valva murdered Thomas. Pollina took the stand to "own up" to her bad actions and behavior that was cruel and "b-----," he said.

<snip>
"All that stuff that happened before, that's being used to vilify Angela Pollina, so you hate her," Tuohy said. "There's no crime for someone being mean, making bad judgments, being verbally abusive. There's no statute for that."

<snip>
"We don't convict people of murder because we hate them, because they are b------," he told the jury. "I have faith that you'll look at her and say she's not guilty of murder."

Angela Pollina was found guilty Friday of second-degree murder and child endangerment in the horrifying death of her ex-fiancé’s 8-year-old son.

The bombshell verdict is the latest update in a grim saga that first grabbed headlines three years ago after the death of Thomas Valva at Long Island Community Hospital Jan. 17, 2020.

RIVERHEAD, Suffolk County (WABC) -- The Long Island woman convicted in the death of 8-year-old Thomas Valva will learn her fate Tuesday.

Angela Pollina will be sentenced after she was found guilty of second-degree murder last month.

Angela Pollina, the Long Island stepmom from hell who admitted that she forced her 8-year-old autistic stepson to sleep in a frigid garage the night before he died, was sentenced to 25 years to life in prison on Tuesday, a report said.

“My only regret is, Miss Pollina, they don’t have a garage,” Suffolk County Supreme Court Judge Timothy Mazzei told Pollina about the prison where she will serve time. “That’s where you deserve to be for the rest of your natural life.”

Well said Judge. Both the stepmonster and the monsterdad deserve the torture chamber. That's what they did to those boys. Torture. Imo.

No criminal charges for child protective workers in Thomas Valva case

A special grand jury investigation into child protective workers who neglected reports of abuse in the case of Thomas Valva could not recommend any criminal charges. Eight-year-old Valva froze to death in his father’s Suffolk County home in 2020.

At a news conference announcing the grand jury's findings, Suffolk County District Attorney Ray Tierney blamed New York’s confidentiality laws. CPS workers labeled almost a dozen reports of child abuse “unfounded,” but the law prevented the grand jury — and prosecutors — from finding out why, according to Tierney.

“Anyone objectively looking at these facts will have no doubt that had CPS done its job, Thomas Valva would still be alive today," Tierney said.

He called for changes to the confidentiality laws to make unfounded child abuse reports available for investigations, a recommendation mirrored in the grand jury's report which notes the laws are intended to protect the right to privacy but in Valva's case, shielded CPS workers from criminal investigation.

“We have no idea why Suffolk County CPS deemed those reports unfounded and we have no idea what, if any, investigative steps they took,” Tierney said.

In the two years before Valva died of hypothermia, his teachers and other mandated reporters notified Suffolk County CPS about concerns over Valva's hygiene, clothing and behavior such as eating food from garbage cans.

Thomas Valva’s father was convicted of second-degree murder charges in 2022. The existence of the multiple CPS reports was uncovered during his trial.

THIS IS ABSOLUTELY OUTRAGEOUS. Not the first NY law that's caused some real damage recently or needed changing. People who are mandatory reporters DID REPORT and tons had many concerns and legitimate and real reasons something needed to e done.

Sounds like the GJ is upset they can't criminally charge them or even call for evidence and noted this law. This agency and these workers left these boys in the hands of the ones who tortured, starved, froze, beat, and eventually killed the one. Dad and evil stepmom may be his killers but they endorsed him remaining with his abusers and did NOTHING. Their mother was screaming for help EVERYWHERE for her sons.

This case is one of the worst. So very many bad ones but these people should not be able to sleep at night or eat but I'll bet they do. I'm not the judge and sure can't say I know it but I'd make an educated guess where they are some day going to be going will be a HE77 worse than the one these boys endured on earth. And every bit of it is deserved.

I followed this one THROUGHOUT and it ALSO WAS LARGELY HUSHED, never made huge news or became one the majority were ever aware of or followed. Of course it was hushed and it wasn't only CPS, JUDGES FAILED ROYALLY and more.

@Mel70

Look at the nice immunity the CPS people got and they don't even have to explain why cases were dismissed and what was found on investigation IF indeed anything was investigated with daddy the cop.

ANOTHER FAILED, DEAD CHILD!!!!
Yep. I hope you don't mind my new thing of calling you in on these! You always are willing to say what needs to be said in the words deserved for such and we both feel so similarly. Our saying so here will never make a bit of difference but we can at least call it out/point it out I figure. These workers should be in a cell with the dad and stepmother imo. They repeatedly failed Thomas and his brother. BEYOND OUTRAGEOUS.
