Hmm. I watched the first few minutes hoping to see if he was on, by call, etc. and saw the start of it with him on but after a couple went back to something else I'd been watching and never got back to it, just not a fan of hers. I had meant to skim through to see if I could find where he said that and maybe even listen to all of the "interview" with him but didn't. Thanks for the time stamp, I'll just take a look at that. Was there anything else he said that seemed of note throughout the interview?

If they do know, I wonder how long they plan to keep her identity under wraps...
I didn't listen to much else. At the bottom of the video she has subtitles of what they are discussing so that helped.

The way Tierney said it gave me a ton of hope that her case at least identifying her publicly is coming soon I really hope solving her and the baby's case
Yeah i thought that it sounded like they are waiting on Nassau county. I wondered why Suffolk cannot check the baby's DNA. Also, how do they know the two are related unless they checked the DNA of each anyway?

makes sense. and there's definitely probably some difficulties case wise too. if I recall, not even sure they could determine the child's cause of death and so forth. found in different counties.

and it's hard to say if they can determine the baby's dad. meaning finding out who mom is is one thing and maybe talking to her family would point to the baby's dad, they may know, or they'd have to try the genetic thing or some such with the baby too.

complicated all of the way around I'm sure.

@Tresir may recall better but it seemed there WAS someone back when if I recall it right that they were talking to or had found who might have been a relative of hers... The memory is very vague so I might have that wrong, just seemed as if they had some lead, maybe a distant one, I really can't recall and I don't think we had much info, just some hint of such...
Did it refer to an adoption of Peaches or something similar in the family IIRC?

Yes this article mentions the possible connection of Peaches to Elijah Howell who died in '63. But nothing more known so far.

Bringing this forward re Peaches (discovered in '97) and Baby Peaches, not discovered till 2010/11.

"The Press first reported in 2016 that investigators used DNA evidence to determine that Peaches was the mother of an unidentified toddler who was among 10 sets of human remains found along the same parkway in 2010 and 2011 in what became known as the Long Island Serial Killer investigation.

Peaches and her child were placed at opposite ends of the dumping grounds, making them the two victims who were farthest apart from one another on Ocean Parkway."

"Howard’s potential connection to Peaches remains unclear. Although it’s uncertain if he had children, records show he had three siblings that have since died, but who did have children. That means there may be surviving nieces and nephews that could help investigators put a name to Peaches, advance the case, and help find her killer."

I think I know what you're talking about. I think but not sure it was a male relative, older maybe grandfather possibly uncle or great uncle something like that down south or in a southern area type state
Yeah, I too thought he was in the south but hesitated to say so as I can't recall all. I don't know if we knew much more than it was a male, somewhere in the south. Not even sure if it was official or where we read it but I know it was on here and we discussed it at least. Not important enough to go find but I just know it had us thinking they had to know her identity or be close to knowing it it made it seem...

They clearly matched mom and baby through DNA, there'd be no other way.

So he was from Alabama, we thought the south. Not sure I knew if the tattoo artist who did the tattoo came forward. Unfortunate he had no records though.

Skimmed it. The defense wants the trials separated. The prosecution responded (that's what the document is) that they are properly joined under the correct statute and goes on to explain how they are and that they again are appropriately joined. He gives all of the reasons, many of them, and similarities including imo the key one, the same perp. But a lot of other things as well.

It's 33 pages so I didn't read it all but that's what it is about. Is that what the hearing was about too?

Here's a link and copy pasta too. Apparently, he's looking forward to his day in court. If he has his way, there will be many days in court. He clearly will get a kick out of seeing and hearing all the evidence and being the centre of attention. Evil POS.

They don't film trials in NY do they? Which would be a good thing in this case IMO.

Gilgo Beach murder suspect Rex Heuermann back in court for hearing on DNA evidence, request to separate trials

Suspected Gilgo Beach serial killer Rex Heuermann returned to court Tuesday for a pre-trial hearing on Long Island.
Heuermann wore the same blank, unreadable look on his face as he has throughout the case. The 61-year-old has pleaded not guilty to murder charges in the deaths of seven women between 1993 and 2011.
The judge on Tuesday allowed the defense another two weeks to receive more DNA evidence, but he seemed to be running out of patience as he wants to move the case along after a year and a half.

Defense seeks 5 separate trials

The first lagging issue is whether there will be one or five trials. The defense contends there should be separate trials, because it influences the jury when so many allegations are lumped together.
"He has said he is not guilty of these charges. The more I review and the more I inspect what the prosecutor has, it leads me to believe he's not the guy," defense attorney Michael Brown said.
However, prosecutors cited overlapping evidence, including cellphone use, the choice of dump sites, mementos kept, and a planning document that outlines how to get away with torture and murder. Prosecutors have also revealed Heuermann once worked at Jones Beach, making him, "extremely familiar with Ocean Parkway at night."
"The theory of our case is that this defendant is a serial killer who meticulously and methodically hunted down and murdered seven women. That is our case, and he did use the same methodology," Suffolk County District Attorney Ray Tierney said.
Heuermann will not be seeking a change of venue, because his attorney said the people of Suffolk County know the history of the case and the Suffolk County Police Department.

Debate over DNA evidence

Then, there is the issue of DNA evidence. Hair fibers found on the victims were matched to Heuermann through science called nuclear DNA, which has never been used before in a New York court of law.
"This is novel information. They call it science, we're disputing that," Brown said, adding, "This is a for-profit company. They stand to make a lot of money if this is accepted in New York. Our expert will testify that the statistical data is extremely faulty and defective."
"It's prevented people from dying from disease. It has detected diseases. It's used in amniocentesis. It has identified war dead. It has identified remains of 9/11 people," Tierney said. "This science has been around for many, many years and, if the defense wants to call it magic, that's fine, the defense can call it whatever it likes. But we will determine that at the hearing, and we look forward to that hearing and, I can tell you, this is sound science."
The judge ordered everyone back in court on March 12 to set a hearing date to consider if the DNA is admissible.

Heuermann charged with 7 Gilgo Beach victims

Heuermann was arrested on July 14, 2023 and charged with the murders of Melissa Barthelemy, Megan Waterman and Amber Costello.
New charges were filed last January in the death of Brainard-Barnes, and Heuermann was indicted on additional charges last June in the 1993 killing of Sandra Costilla and the 2003 killing of Jessica Taylor.
The Gilgo Beach Task Force also released renderings last September of another possible victim, whose body was found between Waterman and Taylor along Ocean Parkway in 2011.
Last December, Heuermann was charged with the murder of Valerie Mack, who had been known as Jane Doe Number 6 for years. He spoke out in court for the first time, saying "I'm not guilty of any of these charges."
The remains of 11 people were discovered around Gilgo Beach, and investigators say Heuermann may be linked to other killings. Investigators also described a "blueprint" they say he used to "plan out his kills with excruciating detail."
Heuermann contends his innocence and his attorney says he is looking forward to his day in court.

I read through and skimmed through it last night. CB wants separate trials obviously wants as much hearing of evidence so he can relive all this. Sicko.
Wants the dna testing discredited all that. He won't win I feel the prosecution is very strong here

Depraved sicko for sure. I never want to know more details of what he did than we already know which is that he tortured and they went through total terror and pain, that's enough for me, no more needed.

He should NOT be able to relive that and relish in it. Also it would be going on for years on end just for these cases and then the appeals would. I think the argument to keep them joined was very strong. I did not read each 33 of the pages in depth but I read a few of them and skimmed enough to see I believe the law is on the P's side with this, or so it appears.

I'm thinking and hoping it will be denied, however, they will probably keep trying. Chad kept trying in Daybell, over and over and over and they were finally severed, his and Lori's trials. However, there were other reasons for that, had the judge had a choice, I don't think he ever would have severed them.
