Lol, have you watched none of that? She already has been. Some of it has been fairly interesting. Yes, she is representing self and she's late getting her sh*t in and more.
And you would probably get a kick out of her reference to the female P atty claiming her bf was part of the Arias case which I know you followed. And you like catfights and I think Lori is trying to start one with the female P... I shouldn't laugh, there are way too many dead here but it is a bit funny watching it--we can't bring the victims back but we can go at her...

Man am I lost. I know who Brown is. Know who Tierney is. CB and family. Harris and Greens and Astrea I am drawing a total blank but then I'm just not keeping up well these days.
I was the same reading that. Sort of "huh who the f are they?"

When i expanded the tweet it continued

"Harris and Astrea yet overlooked key dates between peer review and Harris relationship with the Greens- there was focus on the nuance of data but in reality it is the extrapolation of the data compared to a more broad database…"

Is this a different case they are on about?

Here's a regular article. It says this process could last a few months FFS!!!!!

The Gilgo Beach murder case is moving toward a trial, but two defense requests are slowing things down. Rex Heuermann's attorneys are asking for more time as they challenge something called nuclear DNA testing, which has never been used in a New York court of law.

The judge on Friday set what's called a Frye hearing to determine whether the cutting-edge DNA evidence will be admissible in Heuermann's trial.

While the defense team calls the process "magic," prosecutors say it's commonly used throughout forensic science.

Nuclear DNA hearing in Gilgo Beach murder case begins

The start of the Frye hearing kicked off a pre-trial process that could last a few months. Both sides are expected to call a total of eight witnesses, including a doctor and other experts.

Genome scientist Dr. Kelly Harris took the stand Friday. After listing credentials from Harvard to Cambridge, she gave hours of complex testimony validating that genetic sequencing has dramatically advanced with high-precision nuclear DNA, now considered widely-accepted science.

Nuclear DNA was used to match Heuermann to hairs on belts, tape and burlap found with the seven victims he is charged with murdering.

Harris told the court it is, "embarrassing that a method like this wasn't the state of the art years ago, but better late than never."

"They want to, in essence, have a jury rely on this, which is not trustworthy, it's not reliable, it's not scientific, and it shouldn't be utilized in a court," said attorney Michael Brown.

While nuclear DNA is used in medicine, it has never been included in a New York criminal trial.

The Frye hearing will continue to fit the judge's schedule. In the meantime, he could rule on how many trials Heumermann will eventually face. The defense is seeking separate trials for the seven murders, but prosecutors are arguing for a single one, citing overlapping evidence including a detailed planning document.

What is nuclear DNA testing?

Nuclear DNA testing is common in forensic science, according to Michael Marciano, director of research for Syracuse University's Forensic and National Security Sciences Institute. He said it's used for everything from at-home DNA kits to disease detection and identifying human remains.

"We typically focus on nuclear DNA in forensic science, this is nothing new. It's been done for decades and decades," Marciano explained.

Marciano said the question in the Heuermann case is what is known as whole genome sequencing, which he explained can be a more sensitive type of testing.

"Rather than look at 24 to 27 areas of the DNA, which is what we typically do in forensic cases, we look at thousands, tens of thousands, hundreds of thousands of different variations in the DNA," he said. "If you think about your DNA, a lot of people see it as a sequence of letters. We're looking for differences in those letters.

"We share most of our DNA with each other. We're looking for those differences, and those differences can provide information as to the identity of an individual," he continued.

Shortly after Heuermann's arrest in July 2023, the district attorney's office said DNA from a discarded pizza box linked him to hair from one of the victims.

When Heuermann was charged with a seventh murder last December, court documents said hairs found near the victim's wrists were linked to his estranged wife Asa Ellerup and his daughter, to the exclusion of 99.65% of the North American population. His wife and daughter, who would have been a young child at the time, have not been accused of any wrongdoing in the case.

"This is the future"

If the whole genome sequencing is admissible in this case, Marciano says it could be a game-changer in DNA testing.

"If we look back to the O.J. Simpson case, actually, we saw the introduction of a new technology called PCR-based testing, which is now the gold standard for forensic DNA testing," he said. "Whole genome sequencing is available in private companies right now for use in criminal investigations. It's not widespread, but this could be one of those critical moments in moving forward in forensic DNA analysis that brings this to the mainstream."

He said changes like this take time to work through the court system, but added, "this is the future, without a doubt."

"Innovations in forensic DNA analysis take time, because it goes through the court system, and that benefits the defense as well as the prosecution in the need to vet and ensure that these technologies are reliable," he said. "That is what these hearings that we're expecting in the next two weeks to cover - is this generally accepted? Is this high quality science?"

Meanwhile, Heuermann's uncontested divorce from his estranged wife, Asa Ellerup, is nearly finalized, but she has reserved judgement on his guilt.
"She has a difficult time throughout this whole process believing the husband that she's married to for 29 years now was capable of committing these horrific acts. It is even more concerning that her hair and her daughter's hair were found on some of these victims. So this process is very important to getting closure for her," said Robert Macedonio, an attorney for Heuermann's wife and daughter.

I have no idea and I think am beyond figuring it out these days. At first I thought maybe they meant Asa (not Astrea), the Greens made me think of Murder Sheet, isn't that their last name? Which totally confused me as they are more about Delphi. Astrea I have never heard before. Harris I wondered if they meant Rodney Harrison. So it IS NOT JUST ME? Felt like I was losing my mind lol. I tell ya I'm just so unimpressed with reporting these days but that's nothing new, felt like that for years but I'm being reminded big time how bad it is lately again.

So yeah, who are these people? Were they citing some other case or some such and news can't give a background so the readers are not totally lost?

This is not too bad of an article. So Harris is the genome scientist. Boy it's been hard to keep up but both here and in Kohberger, DNA has been made an issue and they are calling it as here things like magic, etc. but in both cases they have solid experts to back it up. She says it is almost embarrassing it has never been used in NY courts. Note though it says private labs again and that's one thing I think was attacked in Kohberger.

Honestly as to time frame? I wouldn't expect this trial/s to go off for years. Unless CB demanded a speedy one and I can't recall, but don't think so here. As bad as she is Lori in Daybell does that for a reason imo. It is a right but with our slow system it creates a real issue with people and a system not used to moving that fast. Imo.

Here we have an SK, nothing is going to go to trial fast or happen fast, it will be fought tooth and nail which will make it yrs imo. Shall see I guess.

@Tresir I did hit "reply" to your post with the article but it got screwed up and I gave up, so this is in response to your article above, and post.

The defense has to do this :poop:

The last thing we want, is for him to get a new trial due to ineffective council.
Yeah but doesn't make it any less sickening and the two attys here, meaning the divorce atty and the D attorney I have so little respect for. The divorce one particularly. It takes a special breed imo to be a D atty to begin with BUT I do have respect for SOME, but not the showboat types... I mean I worked for a couple way, way, way, way back when, and yes, not everyone is guilty and everyone deserves a defense but I hate with a passion when justice is about drama and showboating and turned into a mockery. Justice is serious, there are victim families and dead victims, etc., and yes, Ps do it too at times and even judges have been showboats. I'm laughing at Lori right now, it is kind of entertaining (Daybell) to keep the record straight, but I never forget there are real victims and that it isn't funny to the families. I get the entertainment value but court should never be about that.

And it is so far behind the times. Yah I could get off on a rant so stopping. In a thousand directions lol.

Oh and sometimes I think they intentionally throw a bit of ineffective counsel in at some point, so that there is an appeal chance... I didn't think this until recently but wondered in one just the other day...

I haven't kept up with Kohberger so we are about even lol

It's impossible to keep up right now. I don't even have the hand, etc. issues you do but due to other have hardly even been able to be online (neck, back, arms, more) and then all cases are coming at about the same time. I knew Read and Daybell were going to come to trial at the same time but i mean Kohberger, LISK, etc., more are all having news too. Lol I don't know if we are even, we are probably BOTH behind lol but I also think everyone is, some more than us. :D

I was griping I think maybe a month ago about a dearth of anything to watch, going on, etc. Not now. Ha ha. Lol. And then I can hardly do it.

Read is pretty local to me.... i haven't paid much attention but trial starting soon so it will be in my face

Yeah I saw you said that, that it is pretty local. Haven't kept up with all but did see that. I can't take that one sometimes, I think you said that too. Delphi got the same way. I don't know about you, but I get where I need a break from crime, I don't always recognize it but I try to, usually I recognize it later than I'd hope. And every single time, I don't right away, not sure why.

Hardly even been online or TV but last few days finally have a bit and before the PT beat me up (seriously) was doing a mix of some light stuff and true crime.

Read is one of my least liked cases, however, I do stay up with it or have been for the most part. People imo have just lost their minds over it, to me it is like they have blinders on, BUT everyone has a different opinion... Delphi got the same way. Not even saying what any opinion should be, just that they get where one just doesn't want to even stay up on them or watch, etc. Imo.

In Delphi, found a podcaster that kept his sanity and kept me sane lol... So that's what i do.

Well living there or near there, wow. Yeah, it's very active right now, I've seen most of the hearings but had enough of that too (Read). I'd say more but opinions go both ways and are very strong.

Well in LISK here thus far and Daybell, most agree on the guilt, so far anyhow or at least of those that comment. I think in Daybell some think Lori mentally ill but I have trouble with that and don't think so. I think both knew what they were doing and why, however, I guess, we'd probably all say you have to have something wrong to murder. Some think she's worse, or was the ringleader, some think he was, some think I think it's been termed both were the like perfect storm... I don't mean just in here but "out there" as well.

Just yakking as here too, I don't' think it has ever seemed like there was daylight today and now it's getting dark but already was lol.

I honestly don't know how you've done your time with what you have going on as I've been about to the end of my rope more than once. I've changed my opinion on a lot of things over the course of it.

Anyhow, when awake I will chat the ear off when I can type, if need such :D

I know sometimes i do.
