10-year-old Lily Peters found dead near Wisconsin trail with bike nearby, suspected homicide *ARREST*

Lawyer for accused killer of Lily Peters files motion to change venue

A motion to change venue has been filed in the case of the teenager accused of killing Lily Peters.

Last week, Michael Cohen, the lawyer for Peter-Berger, filed a motion to change venue. It claims that due to media coverage and public commentary, there is a reasonable likelihood that a fair trial cannot be had in Chippewa County. He also cites the number of purple benches and purple porchlights honoring the victim, as well as 'Justice for Lily Peters' signs displayed.

Cohen is asking that the court case be moved to a different Wisconsin county, or to have the jury be drawn from a different Wisconsin county.

A hearing on the motion is scheduled for June 9 at 8:15 a.m.
