Police, firefighters searching Swan Creek near Byrne Road for missing 3-year-old

Toledo Police and Fire & Rescue crews are searching for a 3-year-old boy who went missing at Friday afternoon at Hunter's Ridge Apartments.

According to police, Braylen's mother suspects he fell out of a third-story window.

Crews including divers and K-9 are currently searching in the woods and creek nearby.

TPD, Toledo Fire searching for missing nonverbal 3-year-old

Toledo Police and Fire are searching for a missing 3-year-old boy this afternoon and also are asking for the public's help in locating the missing toddler in south Toledo.
Braylen Noble, 3, was reported missing on Friday from the 3400 block of Gibraltar Heights Drive at the Hunters Ridge apartments. His mother called police to say the boy apparently fell out of a third-floor window and she couldn't find him, police said.

The child last was seen wearing a long-sleeved red and white Mickey Mouse shirt.

Toledo Police and Fire personnel have been searching for the boy since 12:25 p.m. Friday.

Braylen is nonverbal, police said. Toledo Police and Fire personnel are searching the areas of South Byrne Road and Airport Highway, and the area by the apartment complex in the 3400 block of Gibraltar Heights Drive.

Officers and detectives are now conducting door-to-door searches of the entire apartment complex, police said at 2:42 p.m.

Also assisting police and fire personnel with the search are Toledo Metroparks Officers. Teams are conducting an area search of surrounding buildings, dumpsters, under vehicles and more, police say.

Drones have been deployed to assist the search and Toledo Fire and Rescue Department's water rescue unit is also on Swan Creek to help search. K9 units are also being employed to help search.

Police say the child's mother has been taken to the Safety Building as a matter of protocol in such search situations.

So you are thinking he did fall out of the window, get up uninjured and ran to the pool area, where the gate wasn't shut, and was in the pool the entire number of days the search went on?
All I know is the info that it was presumed by the mother and grandmother that he fell out of the window, that there was basis for such, including that neither witnessed him leave the apartment.

Yeah, it is what the ones under charges claim. I don't buy it but if he did fall, he did not jump up and run off to a pool imo. And more. We looked at length at pictures back when then too of that side of the building, if a child could just fall and not hit anything on the way down and where he would land and more... Oh and no one realize as well, outside or inside...

Some opinions vary on all parts of course but this case remains of interest because of the fact none of it adds up, a lot of unanswered questions, his final resting place being the pool after it was searched and much more.

Well, I just now read the indictment, have you read that?
It sounds to me like they're saying that the mother lied to cover-up some sort of an incident involving a juvenile...
Yeah, so, for me, rather than merely not having a clear and/or full understanding of a particular set of circumstances, I'm just completely confused!

If I did, it was some time ago. If it is recently released, I know I haven't read it. I've known they were charged for awhile, can't recall if there were specifics. I need to take a look.

I can imagine being confused, that is how this case was and hasn't changed really because there are things that just don't add up or make sense and they sure didn't at the time. Maybe some of it will come out...?

I'll have to read the indictment because my first thought is if a parent does admit anything in such a case, they always turn it into an accident...

I'm not sure whether I've even accurately interpreted the indictment! Have you ever heard the term 'legal mumbo jumbo'? To me, that document serves as the very definition! Now I've read plenty of legal papers in which the language is rather complex for a layman like me, but that one takes the cake!
I understand that the mother and grandmother are accused of hindering the investigation by lying, but the rest is as clear as mud as to when they're referencing the victim or another child. Perhaps you can make more sense out it than I can....Annnnnyway....
The other thing I'm confused about is what on earth authorities think actually happened...
Yeah, so, I'm really without a clue as to what they think.

I'll have to read it and see if I can find a few minutes here.

I'm sure you are like me and can interpret most words and general meaning in legal documents even as laypeople. So you're saying that shows me without looking that they probably did it intentionally and don't want anyone quite knowing their case. Yes, the other post you made I was going to ask if they meant him or another child, it was the first thought I had. I doubt I'll understand it any better but now I'm really curious.

What I will say if that document is that confusing or seems intentionally so, that is much like this case as it unfolded seemed as well. Sums it up In a nutshell.

I found the indictment in this article. Took some excerpts. Maybe it has been posted before, if so apologies. I also listened to the 911 call for I believe the first time which was also in this article. So it has both things.

Lawyers for Cox and Johnson told a judge they received evidence from the prosecution that would require months to review with their clients. A continuance was granted until Feb. 22, 2022 for both Cox and Johnson.

Toledo police held a brief news conference in October unveiling new developments in the case. Lt. Dan Gerken said certain evidence was sent away for outside review, including a 911 call, which contributed to charges being filed more than a year after the child's body was found.
"We also met with the prosecutor's office numerous times and they thoroughly reviewed our case," Gerken said. "That took quite a bit of time and I appreciate it to make sure we were doing what was right and taking the case where the evidence led us."

Okay. I"ve read it and wow. I thought I was longwinded with run on sentences. The whole first page of that document is like one long sentence. And it is mumbo jumbo.

Your quote of it before and now reading it, I take it as they assisted someone or covered up for someone and that someone is a minor. So either mom and grandma claim and/or the cops feel that a minor harmed Braylen or was watching him instead of the mother or grandparent and something happened...That's the way I take it. Now was that someone a 5 year old or a 15 year old? Etc.

At first I thought well maybe it is standard law language but it seems the part about the minor just wouldn't need to be in there but it keeps continuing to be... And where at times I thought they meant Braylen in one spot it makes it sound like what was done benefited the minor. Well he didn't benefit so I do think they are talking about another child.

It is confusing though and I am far from certain but that's what I get out of it.

Yeah, I think both counts are actually just one sentence, but that first one's a paragraph long! Very poorly written, I think.
Anyway, thanks for finding that indictment and sharing your impressions and thoughts about it, I really appreciate it!

Yeah, I almost wonder if a layperson on the grand jury wrote it and just wrote down all the language in the applicable law... Not sure how that works.

It does sound to be me as if mom and grandma perhaps put this on another minor.... I guess time will tell...

I'm hitting paywalls or subscriber walls on everything lately. I wanted to see the reason for the delay but can't. And maybe it doesn't say.

Ms. Cox and Ms. Johnson reported Braylen missing on Sept. 4, 2020, from the Hunter’s Ridge Apartments on Gibraltar Heights Drive. After countless individuals spent five brutally hot, muggy days searching for the boy, who was autistic and nonverbal, his body was recovered Sept. 9 from the apartment complex’s pool, which had been searched several times before — including twice by officials.

So the defense still and it was granted. Thank you!!

I was looking for the reason but this stands out in what you posted, just as we have said all along...

This one still upsets me greatly (they all do of course but this one...). Ma and grandma smh... I'd like to see them sent for a "swim" way out in the deep blue sea... @#$!%!#!$!%%!$!$!#%#^ Or falling from a window... Uh-huh.

Community remembers Braylen Noble two years later

Two years ago, three-year-old Braylen Noble was reported missing at Hunter’s Ridge Apartments in Toledo. The search for him started on Friday, and on Tuesday, he was found dead in the apartment’s pool.

“It was very devastating, I don’t understand how something like that could happen to a poor little child. And an innocent child at that,” says Hilary Gembarowicz.

Noble’s mother, Dajnae Cox, was charged with child endangerment and obstruction of justice, and his grandmother, Bobbie Johnson, was charged with obstruction of justice as well.

“My heart still breaks for him every day,” says Gembarowicz. “I just don’t understand how they can live with what they did, it was devastating.”

“I’m happy the community came out together to search for Braelyn,” says Gembarowicz. “The outcome wasn’t with anyone expected, but justice is going to be served.”

Both Cox and Johnson are scheduled to stand trial on Monday, Sept. 12th.

Well I hope on a likely (I hope) conviction, the sentence is as long as can be given.

This case and this little boy has been one that stood out to me and always will. I can add him to others that took over for me as to no justice and so unfair. Some of the others, no body was found and no one charged. Amiah. Serenity. Others where someone was charged but no body found. Noah. And more. MANY others.

All matter to me but some cases just become cemented where I can recall them easily and I get so invested in.

I am drawing a blank on the name right now, but I am thinking of and should have stayed up on it was it Maleah the little girl from Texas whose mom's bf killed her and TX Equusearch found and that Q guy was part of and her body was hit by a lawn mower on top of everything else! Was that guy ever convicted? Last I knew he was still sitting in jail. I need to remember to check on that one. Quantell is the Q guy's name. Trying to think of the perp. Daryl? Darren? Something like that.

RIP Braylen. I hope some justice is served and perhaps one day more will come although it doesn't look promising.

No WAY were you in that pool early on...!

New trial date set for Braylen Noble’s mother, grandmother
