As bizarre rumors of cannibalistic behavior and multiple murder victims flooded social media Saturday, authorities had confirmed little about a missing woman and two suspects now under arrest in South Central Missouri.

Federal authorities ramped up their search for 33-year-old Cassidy Rainwater. Investigators said two men held Rainwater in a cage on Moon Valley Road near Lebanon.

Federal investigators said no one has seen Cassidy Rainwater since July.

Someone reported her missing on Aug. 25.

Two weeks ago, FBI investigators from Kansas City got an anonymous tip that someone was holding Rainwater in a cage on some property near Lebanon. Authorities arrested Timothy Norton and James Phelps.

Prosecutors charged the two men with felony kidnapping. Court documents said investigators found photos on Phelps’ cellphone showing a woman partially nude and in a cage.

Investigators said Norton admitted he helped Phelps to restrain Rainwater.

Beyond the photos, investigators had not disclosed what they found on the Phelps property. Hostetler briefly spoke with Phelps just one time during the past year as his neighbor and heard the rumors of cannibalism.


Cassidy Rainwater is still missing. Anyone who knows where she is should contact their local law enforcement agency.

To me as well. I am a bit surprised that house and property would not be watched, cordoned off, etc. once this all came to light... I mean a girl in a cage?? And if it was watched, how did the house get rigged?

I mean I don't want to start speculating too far but it is downright strange...

Here is another thought, wouldn't you think a type that seems like maybe the paranoid type (to rig a home with trip wires and explosives IF it was him or someone he knew), would perhaps have cameras to see if anyone was entering his property.... I mean after all, he had a girl there he would not want strangers to see right...? I wonder if he has trail cameras or anything around the property.... Any system he had in the house would likely be destroyed though... And perhaps he had none. Just a thought.

That's good and I sure hope so. I guess I have to wonder about the rumors. If there are bodies or evidence of more, etc., then I would almost expect this to be a place they go back to more than once but perhaps they did an exhaustive search of grounds and home.

Any idea if this was a nice home or just an old shack?

I had the thought of maybe if it was a nicer place, maybe someone upset with what he did wanted to destroy something of value to him out of anger. Seems unlikely seeing this house though...

What in the he77? I am going to need to go read it yet but first reaction is well there goes a ton of evidence... How? Has this always been laid or something done recently? I guess I don't know if and when or how many times LE has been to the property before...? What the heck was this guy up to and doing all this time...?

Ok the police were searching his house on the 20th of September, day of his arrest.

I only now saw your comment on this. Exactly. I mentioned the wood pile but I also wanted to ask if they could not put this out before it got to this point...? It was said I think the fire "relit" many times.... Weren't they on scene by then? And that wood pile right next to it is downright odd... A source of building a fire/something highly burnable RIGHT there and it didn't burn...?

I am trying not to go there or think there is LE involvement, but how can a person not at least have it cross their mind? This just really makes NO sense and such a COMPLETE burn...

I am not near Dallas County which in SW Missouri. The address plotted in this image is the address of the 2 POI's arrested in this case.

Can for sure relate. Just wanted to be sure, just like all are worried with @TrackerSam . I truly figured someone probably knew she just had something going on. Glad to hear she is around.

Oh that part. The cannibalism. I don't think that actually was mentioned in the thing I read, the first I saw that was here and it was like WOW.

Quite the case or the rumors it sounds like... The house burning down to the ground is yet another hmmm.

The lack of news on this seems really odd. I guess though it is federal for one. That odd case in Colorado was also federal I think where they were finding all those remains--it rang a bell when seeing this one... We did hear some more news about that here and there but there truly is none now nor was there in between "finds" of bodies and charges...
