Attorney for Mother of Missing Boy Elijah Vue Withdraws from Case due to Conflict

Katrina Baur’s attorney has a conflict, and has to withdraw from the child neglect case filed against the mother of missing 3-year-old Elijah Vue – but a new attorney has already been found to handle the case.

In court Monday, attorney Ann Larson said she has discovered a conflict which prevents her from continuing to represent Baur. The specific details of the conflict were not discussed in court.

Manitowoc County District Attorney Jacalyn LaBre did not object to Larson leaving the case, given the reason. Judge Robert Dewane then granted Larson’s departure.

Larson said attorney Amber Gratz has agreed to take over the case.

The next hearing scheduled in the case is on Wednesday, to address Baur’s request to reduce the $15,000 cash bond. Judge Dewane kept that on the calendar, for now, but acknowledged if Gratz isn’t prepared to hear it then, it could be postponed.

A plea deal for Baur has been discussed in court, but the hearing to finalize it has been postponed twice. The hearing is currently not on the court’s calendar.

Hmmm.

Attorney has a conflict. A deal is in the works? And she still thinks she will get reduced bail when it's already very low.

Judge denies bond reduction for mother of missing 3-year-old Elijah Vue
A judge denied Katrina Baur’s request to lower her bond on Wednesday.
Baur appeared in court Wednesday with her new attorney, Amber Gratz. The previous attorney, Ann Larson, left the case due to a conflict.

Baur has been unable to post the $15,000 cash bond. Gratz asked for it to be reduced to $5,000. District Attorney Jacalyn LaBre opposed the request.

Jimmy Vue, the boy’s father, also opposed the bond reduction, saying he didn’t think Baur would appear in court.

“Your honor, I’d like to ask you to deny bail due to the fact my son is still missing, and we need answers. And I think Katrina Baur has the answer that we all are looking for,” Vue said.

Judge Robert Dewane denied the request.

“I don’t think $5,000 is a sufficient amount, given the nature of what’s been alleged here and what the court knows from the complaint, to keep someone appearing for court when they are supposed to,” Judge Dewane said. “She needs to be where I need to be sure she’s able to be at court.”

While there had been two hearings set for a plea deal to be finalized, Gratz is new to the case. She asked for time to review the case, so an Oct. 22 status conference was set.

Vang returns to court Sept. 27 for a status conference; no trial date has been set.

4th birthday party held for missing Wisconsin boy Elijah Vue

Six months after 3-year-old Elijah Vue was reported missing, members of the community hoping to find him held a birthday party for him at Kiwanis Park on Sunday.

Vue would have turned 4-years-old on Tuesday, the same day that marked six months since he was last seen, as party organizers tell CBS 58 on Sunday, Aug. 25.

"Wisconsin needs some closure at some point," said Michele Ramsden, who organized the birthday party, where dozens of people gathered to celebrate Elijah Vue. "He's here in our thoughts, he's here in our minds, he's here in our spirit, so we're going to celebrate him."

New Rumor Swirls Around Elijah Vue Case

There are rumors circulating on social media that remains of Elijah Vue may have been found near a Girl Scout camp in the Two Rivers area.

Seehafer News has reached out to city officials and investigators, and we are not able to confirm this report.

As there have been many rumors during this investigation, we would refrain from any speculation until an official statement is issued by the investigators or the Two Rivers Police Department.

Report: Two Rivers Police Find Child Skeletal Remains Believed To Potentially Belong To Missing Child Elijah Vue

According to sources who spoke to radio talk show host Dan O’Donnell, Two Rivers investigators located the remains of a small child in a “remote area” of Girl Scout Camp Manitou-Two Rivers on Saturday, which early indications point to belonging to missing four-year-old Elijah Vue, who has been missing since February 20th. The report further stated that a diaper was found with the skull and other remains which were confirmed to be human and authorities are continuing to work toward positively identifying the remains.

The camp is located near the home of Vue’s mother, Katrina Baur, and her boyfriend, Jesse Vang, who was the last to see Vue alive.

Well if true, I guess it's good news as I think there was little hope he was alive. At least he's been found, most likely anyhow. Poor abused child. Maddens me.

Yes, I didn’t know that they would ever find this little boy. I do hope it is his remains because I don’t think he’s alive. He was such a little cutie!

He was a little cutie. Stuck imo in a world of abuse. I hope he had some joy in his life at some points with other relatives, etc. If I recall correctly, GMA even turned on her daughter here if I have the right case in mind...

I personally did not think they would ever find him, that it would have to be some stranger stumbling across a body or part now or in years to come.

I hope its his remains too because the charges are not high enough here in my opinion AND because he deserves to be found and properly laid to rest and I'd hope his mother has NO say in such... But that kind of thing can be well not always the case... They will keep him for some time at least for autopsy and such. Look how long they kept Tylee and JJ. Part of me I felt was so they did not have to give them to Lori... The minute almost she was convicted, note, not long after, the bodies were released... Even before Chad's trial.

They did such extensive searches here for so long and in some very out of the way places that I never understood. I have to wonder if something tipped them off because he was now found (if him) close to their home... Could they NOT search there before and got permission or a warrant finally or did she or someone give info...

Because they had searched locally and were searching far afield in the months after but now were right back to near home...

I just wonder, because it was a needle in a haystack kind of thing. AS for what we saw he could have been ANYWHERE in ANY direction for HOW many miles away or been disposed of in ANY WAY or thing. In a forest, in a lake, in a dumpster, buried, you name it...

Yes, sadly there was little to absolutely no reason to have much hope in this one that he was alive almost from the get go with the facts.

We will have to wait for confirmation but they seem to be at least suggesting it is likely him due to it being a child, a diaper and not far from where they lived, etc.

Exactly. They now have a body which hopefully will show he did not wander off and die naturally. God, that's hard to say, not that I want him to have been through HE77 either. But hopefully it will add enough for murder charge/s. Against both from what we know, I'd hope. Certainly against him.

Again, assuming it is him. I see little reason to think it's not but not 100 percent yet.

It's good I guess as I said before. Since I don't think most believed to be alive anyhow, at least he is found and further charges can hopefully result.

I truly did not think he'd ever be found and I still wonder if something tipped it because I don't know if I have ever seen such extensive searches for anyone.

It's still very sad though. Another murdered abused child who should be happy with his entire life ahead of him. :( RIP little boy.
