Do we have a Jefferey Epstein thread?

Well I wouldn't mind it as it would pay off my mortgage completely.

Also it is 100k pa income not capital.
it would pay my everything off! Even one installment, but I don't live the lifestyle she lives either and she wouldn't be caught dead in my neighborhood. Small, simple, old houses and a very simple lifestyle.

I find it odd that Epstein spent a lot of years with Maxwell however didn't name her specifically in the NDA in 2008. They communicated via email per her 2016 deposition so he did still speak with her. And I know we're not privy to this however I am curious if his trust fund was set up to help pay her legal expenses.

Wasn't that just her trust fund though? If Epstein paid his employees then he had to file taxes too, correct?
Yes. I was attempting to explain to a poster where the 100K figure originated. I thought poster was questioning the figure with the terms "if". :)

She is having to sue the trust fund for her legal fees so that cannot be why it was set up. I guess her reasoning is she was working for him and his companies so he should pay. I don't know the details of the suit but have read about it. $28m seems to ring a bell.

Did all 4 of the victims that testified receive a settlement from Epstein's trust? I remember the 1st & 4th ones did but not sure about the other 2.

Neither Epstein nor her father were murdered. Epstein changed his will before he died. Only Ghislaine believed the conspiracy theory, as it appears she also believes the Epstein one. Autopsy said her father had a heart attack and fell off the boat so it was classed as accidental. I posted an article up thread. He had a habit of peeing off the side of the boat naked and that is how it happened.
I know the findings. I don't really believe one way or the other, I have no opinion other than to say when it comes to rich and powerful and connected which her father was, and Epstein was, nothing would surprise me as to how they died. All I have to do is look at the Murdaugh case (and others in history) to see how coverups at high levels can to on and more. Allegedly.

Epstein was supposed to be under watch. I guess we have negligence if nothing else. Jmo.

G. Maxwell knew her father. She knew Epstein. Allegedly she thinks each was murdered. My point was also that she would know more than we would of the men and perhaps have her reasons for thinking that. Of course it could be that she just does not like a suicide finding, etc.

She was the youngest, the baby of the family and had nothing to do with his business empire. The brothers were directors but were found not guilty of any wrongdoing. I think Isabel is the oldest. Cannot comment on their morals as I don't know.

This report regarding a new documentary indicates that her father knew Epstein and took him to Israel in the 80's, which is the first I have heard about that. (they were both Jewish). However Robert Maxwell brought all his children up as Anglican. Maybe the brothers did not approve of Epstein if they had met him too. I wonder if they are giving evidence?

As to morals, from things I have seen and read, her father was very harsh and I would say abusive with her and others. The father stole from people and was charged. The brothers may not have been found guilty of wrongdoing but there must have been reason to bring charges so as I am not a juror, I am just going with the hints of things in that case. And then of course there are all of the things regarding sex, abuse and money irregularities and shadiness surrounding her and Epstein or at least hints of it. They were degrading to the help and to the girls. This is all my opinion/speculation with things that have been shared or stated.

Interesting about her father and Epstein and the Israel trip. He introduced them didn't he? Maybe they were close.

$100,000 a month from a trust would likely not be enough for the lifestyle much less per year, it would be pennies to her, the way she was raised and lived--and it sure doesn't buy $5M properties. As for work income and/or taxes, didn't she have dual citizenship? Not sure how that works but contracted employees can take off all "expenses" but not sure if it is that way in all countries, if she was contracted with Epstein that is.

There was some mention back in this thread or in a link that they had trouble tracking her money, movements, etc. because she had accounts in various countries.

I would like to know where the money comes from as well. And I agree and said above that it is odd for how close they were that he did not protect her by name in any agreements but did so with others.

Agree with all that $100,000 per year would more than do me just fine. It would be considered chump change to her. Imo.

I don't know how anyone could have got to them to kill either of them under the circumstances. One had just changed his will and had been found injured in his cell the week before from a prior suicide attempt, the other was on his yacht with no one else involved either. Some did think her father could have committed suicide and jumped off the boat on purpose because of the financial problems. I think she probably does not want to think about the suicide of either of them because that would mean they were abandoning her and not thinking about her feelings.

Re your dual citizen comment - she has triple citizenship, French, British and US. And of course, if she was resident in the British Virgin Islands while she was with Epstein, and registered any companies there, she would pay no tax. Even not living there one can still have trusts and bank accounts offshore. That is how the rich, stay rich. She has clearly owned the Belgravia property for at least 21 years, based on the infamous PA photo, so would have purchased that for much less than it is worth today.

Will have to look up Murdaugh....:coffee:

Hard to say. Her father I know suicide is wondered about as you said. Who knows with Epstein. It wouldn't be the first time something happened in jail that's for sure. And he did have a lot of likely dirt on a lot of people and it wouldn't surprise me if that dirt extended to some in not only the political arena, but the judicial arena or the law enforcement arena, etc. I want to say though I don't know what happened nor do I have enough reason to believe one way or another. He was found as you say (Epstein) injured from a prior attempt and he was to be watched. He should have been under very careful watch after that. Isn't that fact? It's the way I recall it anyhow.

I am not of any side of murder vs suicide vs accident for either of them but am reminded of the term "where there is a will, there is a way" and both seemed to have many people that might have enough will in them to rule it out 100% for me.

I would think it far fetched in some cases but with Epstein, I don't find it far fetched. I can't rule out murder. And her dad well he defrauded people, was quite wealthy and well known and could possibly share info on anyone who did as he did or had knowledge. I imagine if such was ever indicated, there would be a number of possible suspects to look into that had a motive in either case.

Like you though, I don't really have an opinion weighted in either direction but I don't rule it out. We will likely never know if there was anything more to either. Imo.

Yes that is fact that he should have been watched and there was a period of time he was not watched, which is when he succeeded. He could have bribed the guards though. The fact he changed the will proves he intended to kill himself I think.
Just looked up Murdaugh and wished I hadn't.

Oh Murdaugh is interesting isn't it? Modern day corruption or so it appears and at high levels at least in that state and I wouldn't doubt a bit beyond in some measure.

I agree on the possible bribing of the guards but I also think others could have bribed the guards to see to it that he died in the same breath. The changing of the will, however, is something to think about...

With Murdaugh a bit of insurance fraud thrown in too. I wondered if he had his wife and son insured? Thinking of the Daybell/Vallow insurance motive also.

It's interesting. I personally think the same, were the wife and son insured...? His father also died within days after and they knew allegedly that that one was coming... He borrowed from people and did not repay. He was defrauding people and stealing settlement money, etc. I don't believe either that he tried to have himself killed either to help his remaining son... (his story). I think it was a ploy to look like someone was after him just as "someone" was after his wife and other son to take suspicion off of him. There are all sorts of twists and turns... And there seem to be coverups in the legal system there and "cronies" and probably in LE and I would not doubt at state levels... Such can and does go on... Scary that it can and does and how many can be complicit...

Three of the defense witnesses have asked to testify under their first names or a pseudonym, but the prosecutors oppose this, Maxwell’s lawyer Bobbi Sternheim said in a filing late Sunday. Maxwell’s four accusers were allowed to testify against her over the first two weeks of the trial with pseudonyms or using only their first names. “The Court’s ruling on this issue may impact the willingness of these witnesses to testify, thereby compromising Ms. Maxwell’s right to present her defense, and may affect the witness order,” Sternheim wrote to the judge. The prosecutors had complained to the judge that the defense didn’t tell them the order in which the witnesses will be called. Sternheim wrote that the defense has provided a tentative order, but that it is “still trying to make travel arrangements for defense witnesses, many of whom are coming from locations out of the district and abroad.”

I am speculating that these could be the ones who want anonymity. What do you think? This article is from May. They did not testify for the prosecution anyway. Will they come to her rescue I wonder.

I have a hard time believing any of Epstein's former assistants will testify for Maxwell. Until now they've been pleading the 5th. Besides her family has anyone spoken publically on her behalf? Her own husband hasn't even been in court so I'm doubtful these witnesses need to be anonymous.

I don't think witnesses can speak publically before they testify, can they? Wouldn't it be cause for a mistrial?

Reports in the media say her hubby has a new friend now anyway- a yoga instructor- which could explain his absence. Or maybe he will testify and that is why he hasn't been in court. We will have to wait to see if they do really have 35 defence witnesses.

Mind you, that DM article is completely off in what it was stating - that friends would turn against her and testify. So it just proves what we thought, that we cannot believe most of what the media report.

As in eg.
"The reports of my death are greatly exaggerated"
