A 22-year-old New York woman who documented her cross-country van road trip on social media was reported missing by her mother on Saturday after her fiancé returned to their home in Florida without her, reports said.

Gabby Petito and her fiancé, Brian Laundrie, embarked on their road trip on July 2 from Blue Point, New York, Newsday reported.
The two were living in a 2012 Ford Transit van and documenting their travels on Instagram and YouTube, often using the hashtag #vanlife.
Petito was last seen checking out of a hotel with Laundrie on August 24. She last spoke to her family on the phone the next day, telling them she had arrived at Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming, her mother, Nicole Schmidt, said.

Her mother told reporters on Monday that she FaceTimed with Petito around August 23 or 24.
Petito's most recent Instagram post was shared on August 25.

Schmidt told Fox News on Sunday that she was unsure whether her daughter had left Grand Teton. She said she exchanged texts with Petito's number twice after August 25.
"I did receive a text from her on the 27th and the 30th, but I don't know if it was technically her or not, because it was just a text," Schmidt said. "I didn't verbally speak to her."
Laundrie eventually returned to the couple's home in North Port, Florida, without Petito, though it was not clear when he arrived, the Daily Mail reported.
The police in New York's Suffolk County said Schmidt filed a missing-person report on Saturday.

"Petito, 22, of Blue Point, is described as a white female, approximately 5 feet 5 inches tall and 110 pounds," the press release said. "She has blonde hair and blue eyes, and several tattoos, including one on her finger and one on her forearm that reads 'let it be.'"

The press release said authorities had recovered the couple's van during their investigation.
Petito and Laundrie had been living in North Port together for two years before they set out on their road trip, the Daily Mail said. Petito announced their engagement on Instagram in July 2020.

She could be anywhere as they were traveling cross-country. I put the location as the last place her family could verify that she was still in communication.

I just saw John Walsh on FOX cable, the Jessie Watters show. He's hot! He's getting tips of Brian being in Mexico. Then there's this going around the internet which John Walsh mentioned. The one on the left is in Mexico and people think it's Brian Laundries. I think so too!!

Is Brian Laundrie in Mexico? Internet thinks it's him in viral pic at restaurant

Gabby Petito's body was found in Wyoming's Grand Teton National Park and her death has been ruled a homicide

Social media sleuths are sharing an image they claim shows Gabby Petito's ex-fiance Brian Laundrie at a restaurant in Mexico as authorities continue to hunt him.

Petito's body was found in Wyoming's Grand Teton National Park over the weekend, and her death has been ruled a homicide. Authorities have continued their search for Laundrie, who has been missing for more than a week. Petito, 22, and Laundrie, 23, had been traveling across America in a converted Ford Transit van for nearly two months. The fiance returned to his parents' Florida home by himself on September 1. Petito was reported missing on September 11, more than a fortnight after her mother last spoke to her on phone. Meanwhile, Laundrie refused to cooperate with detectives working the case and mysteriously disappeared on September 12. Laundrie was named a "person of interest" last Wednesday, September 15, and currently has a federal arrest warrant out against him.

Gabby Petito: Police not looking to get Brian Laundrie alive, says legal expert

Before going missing last week, Laundrie told his parents that he was going for a hike in a Florida nature reserve. Now, a picture making the rounds on social media appears to show a man sitting at a table at a restaurant in Mérida, Mexico, wearing a white t-shirt and black shorts. The screenshot was first shared by Lykke Borup, who is from Copenhagen but has been in Mexico recently, The Sun reported citing her Instagram account. It's unclear when the picture was taken.

Social media caught up to the image rather quickly, speculating that Laundrie could be in Mexico as he currently remains at large and his whereabouts remain unknown. He told his parents he would be hiking in the “swamp-infested” Carlton nature reserve in Sarasota. A search and rescue expert, however, has proposed that Laundrie may have lied to his parents about where he was going.

“There’s a chance Laundrie may have lied to his family about where he was going," Chris Boyer, the executive director of the National Association for Search and Rescue, told Insider. “People that are trying not to get caught for something sometimes use people, right? So he may have told his parents that's where he's going. They may be telling the authorities that in all honesty, but he lied to them."

That dude better take cover! Especially if it's not him!

I watched him some like way, way, way back when he was in Hawaii and Colorado and his wife was still alive and at times some of his kids worked with him. I heard his wife died and thought he had remarried.

I wouldn't have posted it if I was not sure it was fact. I know he is a real bounty hunter but there is the "Hollywood" aspect.

The more searching for Brian the better I guess. I don't have anything really for or against him. This case is sure bringing in some known names though.
Well the thing is. If there's a bounty out, there is bound to be more than one bounty hunter looking for him. Hopefully, the bounty increases.

I saw that on something, but had to turn it because of all of the drama he creates.
The one I saw he did not ask for or create drama but the reporters did. However, it would be dumb of me to think he does not realize if he shows up with all of the reporters there that there will be attention. A reporter asked him what he was doing there as they were leaving and he said something like "I think you know the answer to that" and they left.

Assuming the parents are not lying of course when they say Brian may have lied to his parents. Yeah, John Walsh this morning in the Banfield one I posted did not mince words at Brian, his parents NOR their attorney, he was very harsh and I have to admire it honestly, pretty rare these days. He said the tips he received that seem most likely are Mexico and the Appalachian Trail... Just detailing that for those who did not have a chance to watch it. I can't watch them all either.

He has quite a following and network of people, so that might make a difference for somebody to contact them. The more, the merrier.

what i started watching quite a while back was all him drama. No reporters.

I may have missed what you meant. I mean when he showed up at the Laundrie house today, he avoided all of the reporters and said little but of course, I am sure he knew he would be recognized. Yes, his show was drama if that is what you meant. But like you said, the following he has brings more attention to the case. That's the way I am looking at it too--if it brings Laundrie to justice or in, then great.

Meanwhile, a second reward has been offered by Jerry Torres, who said in a tweet Wednesday he was a neighbor of the family of Laundrie's 22-year-old fiancée Gabby Petito, whose remains were found last Sunday in Wyoming.
Torres wrote that he and his daughter "offer our deepest condolences to the family of Gabby Petito," adding, "We are offering a reward of $5,000 for tips leading to an arrest."

Torres said Friday the reward he's offering had been raised to $10,000, thanks in part to help from people like Steve Moyer, the former deputy chief of police for Sarasota, Florida.

Dog the Bounty Hunter was at the house. What the heck? I will find a link.
With a bounty comes a bounty Hunter! I think I’d rather be captured by Dog than some of the other ones out there.

I watched an interview with Dog last night and he was saying he thought that Brian was in the Appalachian Mountains . That’s my theory too! That is, if he hasn’t ended his own life.

It seems to me the mountains would be easier to get to vs Mexico.

I never thought of him finding an abandoned building, but actually that seems more suited to him.
If he is in someone’s mountain hideaway, I pray people in that area who own these check on theirs. That’s what happened here in california when they were looking for a fugitive who’d murdered several people!

Gabby's family posted a very beautiful video about her on the funeral home's website. It's worth watching, just grab a tissue.
