The Federal Bureau of Investigation is now involved in the ongoing search for a missing/endangered 11-year-old Colorado Springs boy who went missing Monday afternoon, and the task force investigating his disappearance is organizing a team of volunteers to start searching for him.

Gannon Stauch was believed to be a runaway after he left his home southeast of Colorado Springs between 3:15 and 4 p.m. on Monday. But as the week progressed, his disappearance was upgraded to a missing/endangered person case.

His stepmother said he left his home on foot to play at a friend’s house down the street on Monday afternoon, according to the sheriff’s office. Deputies and major crimes detectives had taken “extraordinary steps” to locate the boy, the sheriff’s office said. They were actively searching for evidence and taking witness statements, a sheriff’s office news release issued earlier this week read.

“He’s very young, it’s dark and cold outside and we want to bring Gannon to safety,” the sheriff’s said in a Facebook post earlier this week.

On Thursday afternoon, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office and other task force members, as well as Stauch’s parents, hosted a news conference to update the community on his disappearance, discuss the steps being taken in the investigation, and to notify people in the area that they are organizing volunteers to begin a community search effort in coming days.

El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Mitch Mahalko said the sheriff’s office received the investigation on Tuesday afternoon and started doing interviews and collecting video surveillance and talking to neighbors, working to collect new leads.

He said that the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and FBI got involved after the case was upgraded to a missing/endangered child case. The FBI’s team specializes in search and rescue and “will be a good partner” in the investigation, Mahalko said.

He said the investigation was active and that authorities were conducting interviews with witnesses and collecting evidence – exhausting every lead they receive.

Mahalko said investigators were looking at “persons of interest” in the case as people who might be able to give them additional information on Stauch’s whereabouts.

He declined to say where authorities had been searching but confirmed that investigators had been in contact with some trash companies in El Paso County and in the Lorson Ranch area.

Kirby stressed that people with tips should report them to their tip line – 719-520-6666 – and not on social media because any tips sent to the sheriff’s office on social media will not be considered.

DWAP is saying there are sources saying there is talk that this was premeditated and that she may have killed or been involved in a murder before I believe in SC and was questioned and there are other things. You can like him or not, but he was right this morning (often is and has local sources) and he knew far earlier this morning than he released it, and his first contact was to Landen to be sure she knew of the arrest and okay and that it would not be a surprise to her and the he contacted news sources well before he shared it online and he confirmed what he could as well. Imo he has the best info on Colorado cases but he does not cover each and every one. Info re history in South Carolina, etc. This is a very interesting one if you want to watch it. It sounds like they had someone that decided to talk whether the daughter, her sisters, etc. in this case here. It is still live at the moment and then will be a recording after.

She worked as a softball coach, worked with handicapped kids and kids with issues from SC and hindsight is striking those that knew her when there.

There is quite a bit in the above and it is still on. Heather Elvis case. ETA: She was questioned in that case and made some remarks--not saying she did it.

This is not verified but people are wondering and more is allegedly going on.

ETA: And he does forward texts he gets and some of these things to the DA, etc. to decide if it is worthwhile or not.

I was just going to post her mugshot, GmaBear. You got here first!

Leticia Stauch has several ties to the Grand Strand area, including serving as a teacher. Grand Strand News Alliance partners WPDE also reported Gannon Stauch was from the Horry County area.

According to a Tecia Stauch LinkedIn page, she was a teacher in Horry County from October 2010 to 2015. Horry County Schools spokeswoman Letecia Stauch worked as a para-professional in Horry County schools from November 2010 until 2012. From 2012 to June 2015 she worked as a special education teacher.

Though Stauch also listed working for a Colorado School District though a spokesperson told the Colorado Spring Gazette that despite Stauch listing she worked for the district, she never has.

Stauch also had her teaching license suspended in 2015 after she failed to show for work to start the school year in Marion County. The state school board revoked her license for 180 days, according to court records. Stauch said she didn’t show because of harassment and retaliation related to her husband’s pending military move

I am just guessing on my part too.

Per DWAP again:

Stepmom has been arrested four times under three different names in four states in a string of crimes. She was even sentenced to prison after one arrest.

Theft of a car/larceny, domestic violence and abuse, battery.

Leticia's record is lengthy goes back two decades although some are minor crimes like traffic violations.

There is also info about her employment and "stories" as well.

He also says there is someone else involved/a witness, he believes it is a female, 99.9 percent sure. Other things as well. This was a live from tonight.

And still she was allowed to be a teacher?! I am quite shocked.

How long was she married? I wonder if she was hiding all this from her husband.

No matter how much we hate her, she really needs an attorney.

Yeah, they should have had one there, at least even if only for this hearing until one is settled upon. He was borderline giving her advice which I don't think they are supposed to do (the judge). I wonder if she talked at all, formerly she has never been able to keep quiet.
