GANNON STAUCH: Colorado vs. Letecia Stauch for child abuse and murder of stepson *GUILTY*

FBI now involved in ongoing search for missing 11-year-old Colorado Springs boy

The Federal Bureau of Investigation is now involved in the ongoing search for a missing/endangered 11-year-old Colorado Springs boy who went missing Monday afternoon, and the task force investigating his disappearance is organizing a team of volunteers to start searching for him.

Gannon Stauch was believed to be a runaway after he left his home southeast of Colorado Springs between 3:15 and 4 p.m. on Monday. But as the week progressed, his disappearance was upgraded to a missing/endangered person case.

His stepmother said he left his home on foot to play at a friend’s house down the street on Monday afternoon, according to the sheriff’s office. Deputies and major crimes detectives had taken “extraordinary steps” to locate the boy, the sheriff’s office said. They were actively searching for evidence and taking witness statements, a sheriff’s office news release issued earlier this week read.

“He’s very young, it’s dark and cold outside and we want to bring Gannon to safety,” the sheriff’s said in a Facebook post earlier this week.

On Thursday afternoon, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office and other task force members, as well as Stauch’s parents, hosted a news conference to update the community on his disappearance, discuss the steps being taken in the investigation, and to notify people in the area that they are organizing volunteers to begin a community search effort in coming days.

El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Mitch Mahalko said the sheriff’s office received the investigation on Tuesday afternoon and started doing interviews and collecting video surveillance and talking to neighbors, working to collect new leads.

He said that the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and FBI got involved after the case was upgraded to a missing/endangered child case. The FBI’s team specializes in search and rescue and “will be a good partner” in the investigation, Mahalko said.

He said the investigation was active and that authorities were conducting interviews with witnesses and collecting evidence – exhausting every lead they receive.

Mahalko said investigators were looking at “persons of interest” in the case as people who might be able to give them additional information on Stauch’s whereabouts.

He declined to say where authorities had been searching but confirmed that investigators had been in contact with some trash companies in El Paso County and in the Lorson Ranch area.

Kirby stressed that people with tips should report them to their tip line – 719-520-6666 – and not on social media because any tips sent to the sheriff’s office on social media will not be considered.

Human remains found in Florida tentatively IDed as Gannon Stauch

Colorado National Guard

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- The El Paso County Sheriff's Office says human remains believed to be Gannon Stauch have been found in Florida.

According to the sheriff's office, deputies in Santa Rosa County were called to a report of a deceased juvenile male in Pace, Florida on March 18.

An autopsy was performed and the juvenile was identified as Stauch, the 11-year-old who went missing from the Lorson Ranch neighborhood of Colorado Springs on Jan. 27.

Stauch's stepmother, Letecia Stauch, has been arrested and charged with first-degree murder, child abuse resulting in death, and tampering with a corpse. She was the one who reported Gannon missing, but evidence mounted that led authorities to arrest her earlier this month.

Police are asking if anyone saw Letecia Stauch in the area of Pace or Pensacola between Feb. 3 and Feb. 5 to call 719-520-6666.

Letecia was arrested in South Carolina before being extradited back to El Paso County.

Few details about what led to Letecia's arrest have been released, and a gag order has been filed for the case. We're expecting to learn more details at a preliminary hearing set for a future date, but most of the court documents connected with the murder charge have been sealed.

This is a breaking story, check back for updates.
Florida?!!!:thud:

Whoa! FLORIDA??

I read on FB that they found him in a suitcase, of course that isn't confirmed. Now did she drive down to SC and then Florida or did she hand him over to someone who drove his body down to Florida?

I was just seeing this sad update. .... glad he is found, tho not how we would wish.

The remains were found Tuesday by a Florida Department of Transportation road crew doing work in the area around U.S. 90 and the Escambia River Bridge in Pace, Florida, said Sgt. Rich Aloy of the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office in Florida. The construction crew called the sheriff’s office to report the found body.

Pace, Florida is about 15 miles north of Pensacola on the Florida panhandle. It’s almost 1,400 miles from Colorado Springs and nearly 700 miles from Myrtle Beach.

Stauch’s arrest affidavit and other case files remain sealed in El Paso County District Court. The Denver Post has joined multiple media organizations to argue for the release of those files. She is scheduled to appear in court on April 14.

What in the heck?

So Gannon was last seen Jan 27.
She rented a car the next day, Jan 28. But that car was apparently returned the next day, Jan 29.
They're asking for people who may have seen her in the area Feb 3 - 5.
She was arrested in South Carolina March 2.
Gannon was located on March 17.

They had to have been watching her after she reported Gannon missing. She certainly didn't drive to Florida the day he was reported missing. The cameras show her coming back to the home alone that same day. February 3 was when that info about the security camera footage started to come out. Feb 3 was when they spent 11 hours at the home looking for evidence. What was she doing? WHERE WAS GANNON from Jan 27 until Feb 3?

Was he found in a suitcase or not? Maybe she hid the suitcase and went back for it before she left to go back east.

I hate this woman! Someone said and I would have to look back at the witness list that there were Virginia and Florida FBI etc. on the witness list and from varying states in fact and now that seems to make sense, I wondered about the sheer number on the list when it first came out. I am thinking she went to Florida and then SC. They are asking for anyone who saw her in Florida between two very certain dates so one would pull from that they know something with regard to dates and location she was in...? Someone also said there is a rumor Harley was arrested but I can't verify that...

I have always wondered if the tampering charge meant she moved the body the way it was worded, however, how they would know that I have no idea so I am probably wrong on that...

Evil, evil, evil.

If she drove there with Gannon's body AND Harley, that arrest, if it happened, would make sense. Still didn't find msm confirmation about the suitcase .

ETA, will never learn how to quote properly

You can see the yellow crime tape (upper left side going under the overpass)

Santa Rosa County Sgt. Rich Aloy said Tuesday that a road construction worker discovered the body around noon, just off Highway 90 near the Escambia River bridge

I want to be happy he was found but it is still just so heartbreaking.

I suspect like everything else she did, and thinking she was so smart, was so stupid that they will find or already have the perfect trail as they did to arrest her even before he was found.

Poor baby.
