The Federal Bureau of Investigation is now involved in the ongoing search for a missing/endangered 11-year-old Colorado Springs boy who went missing Monday afternoon, and the task force investigating his disappearance is organizing a team of volunteers to start searching for him.

Gannon Stauch was believed to be a runaway after he left his home southeast of Colorado Springs between 3:15 and 4 p.m. on Monday. But as the week progressed, his disappearance was upgraded to a missing/endangered person case.

His stepmother said he left his home on foot to play at a friend’s house down the street on Monday afternoon, according to the sheriff’s office. Deputies and major crimes detectives had taken “extraordinary steps” to locate the boy, the sheriff’s office said. They were actively searching for evidence and taking witness statements, a sheriff’s office news release issued earlier this week read.

“He’s very young, it’s dark and cold outside and we want to bring Gannon to safety,” the sheriff’s said in a Facebook post earlier this week.

On Thursday afternoon, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office and other task force members, as well as Stauch’s parents, hosted a news conference to update the community on his disappearance, discuss the steps being taken in the investigation, and to notify people in the area that they are organizing volunteers to begin a community search effort in coming days.

El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Mitch Mahalko said the sheriff’s office received the investigation on Tuesday afternoon and started doing interviews and collecting video surveillance and talking to neighbors, working to collect new leads.

He said that the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and FBI got involved after the case was upgraded to a missing/endangered child case. The FBI’s team specializes in search and rescue and “will be a good partner” in the investigation, Mahalko said.

He said the investigation was active and that authorities were conducting interviews with witnesses and collecting evidence – exhausting every lead they receive.

Mahalko said investigators were looking at “persons of interest” in the case as people who might be able to give them additional information on Stauch’s whereabouts.

He declined to say where authorities had been searching but confirmed that investigators had been in contact with some trash companies in El Paso County and in the Lorson Ranch area.


Kirby stressed that people with tips should report them to their tip line – 719-520-6666 – and not on social media because any tips sent to the sheriff’s office on social media will not be considered.

She was selfish. Reading through that, her Google searches... "i feel like i'm just a nanny not a stepmom", "husband uses me to babysit his kids", "make my husband want me more", "my husbands ex wife does nothing for her kids". She resented having to care for the children. She resented him for leaving her to care for them alone. She wanted more for herself. More love, more money, less responsibility.

Disgusting seeing how she planned it out. And extremely disappointing to realize how much HH might really know. Yes, it's possible her mom just told her to do these things and shut up, and she had no idea why. And that's what I hope. That she was just manipulated by her sociopathic mother and really had no idea what she was a part of. But, HH picked up carpet cleaner, baking soda, and trash bags (#48). She "likely" picked up her mom after she returned the rental car (#78). She "likely" picked up her mom after she dumped Gannon's remains (#81). Well, I think HH knew exactly what she was doing when she did all the 'chores' for her Mom. Nobody can tell me that with 17 years you can't connect the dots. Like it happens with murder, this will destroy many lives. And with HH's choice(still hoping she reconsiders) , she destroyed her own life even more. I see that she has no one left to turn to, but I had hoped that she loved Gannon enough to have justice served for him. ETA just my personal opinion.

I agree, I look at the evidence and that is not even all of it usually in early documents and I think she is done for. Thank goodness.

I agree on Tee's daughter. It is obvious this was all drafted prior to the discovery of Gannon, I hope Harley changed her tune afterwards but if she had not by then, probably not. Is she allowed to talk to LE or LE allowed to question her if her only parent, custodial, said no? She was or still is (unsure) a minor.

This is pretty much where I am at with it as well. The video by HH of the hike back months before and particularly the ending really bothered me with the way both HH and Mom were acting towards I felt both L and Gannon, but particularly G. "Tee" also had remarks she made that emasculated Gannon in my opinion from messing his pants to not being good at soccer, etc. wasn't it? This court document was shocking, I know that.

And I don't call people stupid but I will, she was and is absolutely stupid. She claims a rape and then they have texts that she was texting to H and Al during her rape? Dumb. I read someone who thinks she took parts from different murders like Heidi Broussard, the Kelsey Berreth murder, etc. and probably thought she was smart but she was soooo stupid. So many examples of stupidity on her part in that document and her very own actions and statements we had seen prior even online, in the news report, etc.

I totally agree and feel I can peg her type too based on what I have seen in my life of such types as her (that did not murder but resented a child, etc.). This type always has a scapegoat and everything is always someone else's fault. Gannon was the scapegoat.

I will add one more thing to your post that I feel and it is just my opinion. She is the type that is jealous of her own daughter. Don't get me wrong, she may prefer her over and above the stepchildren, she probably has pride she is her mother and being seen with her, and giving her material things, etc. but she is jealous of her youth, beauty, that she has her entire life ahead of her, has options, etc. I am not saying she would kill her, just saying as she ages or gains weight and feels stuck in life, that she envies that and realizes her days of that are gone. She likely "loves" her in her way which is not love imo, she is an extension and reflection on herself, as are vehicles, houses, all sorts of material things or what makes her "look" good. Tee is never happy, nothing is ever enough as you said.

I remember the case you are talking vaguely and there was another, and I can't remember which, some year back where the mother convinced the daughter to take the blame for her stepfather's murder because she told her the court would go lightly on her as she was a minor and a teenager. The girl did and got a pretty severe sentence if I recall correctly. I think as she matured and saw her mother was free and gallivanting around and perhaps not seeing her (I don't quite recall), she came clean with authorities that it was her mother but she had her work cut out as she had taken the blame.

Tee strikes me as EXACTLY like this and one thing (of many) is how she called her daughter to verify her lies in that infamous interview. She did not sound willing to me when unknown to Tee the camera was still recording the girls' response in the vehicle or near it. HH didn't want to, it struck me like. But was expected to toe the line so in my opinion, she reluctantly did. In no way am I saying HH is innocent or guilty but just stating that one could see what Tee expected, for her daughter to help on HER behalf, not her daughter's and care less if her daughter is caught in Tee's lies.

i had to kill a water moccasin the other day. Even though it is a venomous snake and could kill me, the grandkids or our pup, i still felt bad over having to kill it because it is a living creature. I reckon i felt more sympathy for the snake i killed than tee ever felt for Gannon.

i hope they televise her trial so that everyone can see what a lowdown, evil thing she is and expose all of the ugliness that she has inside. If her family wants to defend her and lie for her, i hope they get exposed as well. I am flat out of sympathy for anyone who tries to coddle or protect a child killer.

Understand this all perfectly too and agree. I remember vaguely that case as well. It gave me a few other thoughts which I will try to remember tomorrow. I am wiped out.

I’m vacillating as to Harley’s involvement. No doubt stepmom has engaged and raised Harley with role confusion. She must have reinforced Harley’s identity by instilling and manipulating her into taking on the role of a parent or friend. I think she invalidated Harley’s emotions throughout her life leading her to deny or question her own emotions and morals.
