(CNN)Four Minneapolis police officers have been fired for their involvement in the death of a black man who was held down with a knee as he protested that he couldn't breathe, officials said Tuesday.

The FBI is investigating the incident, which drew widespread condemnation of the officers after a video showing part of the encounter circulated on social media.

Many, many years ago, my parents went on vacation to Vegas. My Dad went to his bank to get cash before they left. The casino said they were counterfeit $100 bills
How does that even happen at a bank? Wow. Did they have trouble and were they questioned as they had the counterfeit bills?

I see here now that I have read more in this case that the ink was running yet on the bill.

as fast as she filed after this, makes one wonder what all she might have been through with him

I wonder that but I also wonder about financial strategy. I don't know whether the police union or whatever group will provide his defense (?) but his income is gone as well, they seem to have a condo in Florida and I am guessing a home in MN. Divorce may allow her to protect half for her or them? I do wonder though too about her treatment by him just because that kind of brutality in the job often carries over at home...

I don't know about other parts of the country, but there's a lot of counterfeit bills around the West Coast. When I was a teller years ago, I had to go to counterfeit identification training. Yes it's true, they have you Study the real thing and then they bring in the counterfeit and you can tell the difference at that point. I don't know about today though. I'm sure that things have really advanced.

Can somebody tell me if there is anything good for the cause that comes out of all this rioting? I'm really trying to make sense of why they think that pillaging will work.

Let me add, I do believe in peaceful protests. I have no problem with it as I've been involved in peaceful protests myself.

I went into a gas station about twenty five years ago. I gave the guy a bill, I don't think it was a $100, but it could have been. He took a highlighter type thing and ran it over the bill. He said it would identify counterfeit bills.

I haven't read every post in this thread, but I have watched this video more than once. George Floyd seems like the sweetest man and I would have loved to have known him. I know this is only a very short clip about him, but it sure says a lot to me and I really do believe that it wouldn't please him to see pillaging going on in his name.

I do want justice for George Floyd! But I don't want innocent people to suffer at the same time.

The ultimate weakness of violence is that it is a descending spiral, begetting the very thing it seeks to destroy. Instead of diminishing evil, it multiplies it. Through violence you may murder the liar, but you cannot murder the lie, nor establish the truth. Through violence you murder the hater, but you do not murder hate. In fact, violence merely increases hate...Returning violence for violence multiplies violence, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars. Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.

On reading some other things, it appears the clerk knew it was counterfeit quickly before Floyd even left the store and ink was running. He then went and asked for the smokes back to no avail. I know casinos today can check quickly, what it is and how it is known I am unsure. This, however, is sounding like it was not even a good counterfeit.

In the overall death, it makes no difference as what the officer did was basically murder imo. I will go so far as to not even say negligence. I pretty much bring it up because the response and behavior seems like overkill over a $20 counterfeit when they don't even respond to bigger things at times in that kind of reaction. Just my opinion though. Not sure about the counterfeit law but it seems small potatoes, not like it was a counterfeit operation nor did he rob the convenience store at gunpoint or anything.

so he most likely didn't get anything out of this since the clerk noticed so early, but did the right thing in reporting a counterfeit bill. The next question was most likely is he still there kind of thing, which the clerk says he is. Not even a violent crime and this guy gets taken out for a piece of paper and a clerk doing his job.

Yeah and a few articles say the clerk felt bad he mentioned to another customer but he was just following protocol and I got the impression they were watching the response and realizing it was over the top....? The fact this cop may have known who he was too from working with him bothers me... It does sound like Floyd was intoxicated from various sources including the clerk but he was in his car and was not driving and no crime in commission. He had not even left the area nor ran away after being in the store....

Regardless, a death as you say for a minor event... And now look what the cop has his entire department dealing with! And the entire city! Not to mention at least two other deaths already. And NATIONAL attention and outrage. I put that all on him. We will see about the other three cops but they certainly did not stop it...

Everything I have read and from everyone that knew him, said he would not want this destruction. All said he was a good and sweet man.

ETA: So the ones committing destruction need to realize they are not representing him nor doing what he would have wanted. Imo.

Out here, they just confiscate the counterfeit bill. You're out the money. If I recall correctly, the bank would notify the FBI but that was 30 years ago so who knows what they do now.

The person with the counterfeit is never arrested. Ever. They're just out the money.
Still protocol here to call the authorities if one is encountered and they can get in LOTS of trouble if they are found to have pawned one off on an unsuspecting customer after receiving one.
