JOSHUA "JJ" VALLOW, TYLEE RYAN, TAMMY DAYBELL, & CHARLES VALLOW: State of Idaho/Arizona vs. Lori & Chad Daybell *GUILTY*

Police seem to be no closer to finding 7-year-old Joshua “JJ” Vallow and 17-year-old Tylee Ryan than they were when this story began months ago.

Since that time, the story has gained international attention as it’s taken twists and turns involving a purported cult, dead spouses, delusions of divinity and preparing for the end of the world. Despite all the angles, and the ever-growing number of people related to the case, the facts remain essentially the same as when it was first announced.

The two children remain missing and the parents, Lori (Vallow) Daybell, and her new husband, Chad Daybell, refuse to disclose their whereabouts to police. Both have been named persons of interest in the disappearance of the children. Law enforcement is also investigating the deaths of the Daybells’ previous respective spouses, Charles Vallow and Tammy Daybell, though neither Chad nor Lori have been named suspects in those cases.

Written timeline of events

I don't know the law on it but would think Means and Lori should not be able to do any such thing as speak on it until she is tried?

Also, if she can talk about her case and is competent to do so then she can stand trial imo. Why would anyone let her? She's incompetent right? Or whatever they are calling it in her case.

I wouldn't mind her talking. She'd probably just spout off more rope to hang her with.

That's a thought and if so, I'd welcome seeing it, IF it worked out that way... Letecia Stauch couldn't shut her mouth and I think it contributed a lot to her arrest although they had plenty of evidence aside from that...

The way Lori's case goes though, somehow it would probably benefit her or delay it... This judge, I don't know... It has taken this long to just take Means off of the case...

We shall see I guess...

So this hasn't happened yet? If it is 5 EST then it is at 6 CST here. The link says East Idaho News "was" live but it also says standby. It sure seems late in the day for a hearing but I guess it isn't as late in ID. Still late day though.

It says that for several minutes but the Zoom conference does take place, promise as I watched it via that link.

So you watched it earlier and this wasn't live? I'm mixed up but it doesn't matter as I just watched it.

Appeared to me the State was being overly cautious and really had no need of this motion.

So Lori attended by telephone today? Is she about ready then to be competent to participate in her own defense and understand the charges? I sure hope so, it is getting old.

I do have to say Archibald had a good point that almost everything the public knows comes from either the prosecution/State or LE. I don't like to compliment the defense and I'm not, just saying that he was veryadequate to the job today for this motion hearing for being new in a way I don't think Means probably ever was.

I did watch it earlier :teehee:

I too thought the State was too cautious in limiting the defense the opportunity to defend their client. Yes, Archibald stated on record that Lori was in fact listening to the call. She sure seems to be really involved in her case for someone who's not competent.

My last take on this was I hope that the prosecutor that spoke today doesn't speak much during trial. She was babbling, imo.

I may have the names mixed up but isn't she the special prosecutor they brought in from an outside state? It may have even been Missouri, it seems like it was central or midwest... She had a ton of experience and they wanted I think someone from outside the Mormon area, tight knit area, etc.... Or so it was speculated... Isn't it Rachel Blake or something?

I could be totally wrong or mixed up...

Rachel Smith is from Missouri however she sat across from Mark Wood on the Zoom call. It was the other prosecutor (brunette) that argued for the state in today's hearing.

This article has a picture of Rachel Smith for reference.

I wondered if I had it mixed up so I did. I heard the judge say Blake how many times but I was thinking it was Rachel Blake. You're right, that one is Smith. Too many cases and in this one sooo much info.... That's my excuse lol :) She wasn't anything amazing, I agree. In fact, I think she'd have taken a more detailed, restrictive order but knew she couldn't outright ask for one because as the judge said it sounded almost as if she was wanting a gag order without actually asking for one...

And the defense did make a good point of if anything is out there for info, loads of if have come not from the defense but just the opposite. It is great for us watching to have all of this info but I do wonder sometimes where family has talked, witnesses have talked, or went on TV or shows, a movie has been made, shows like Dateline etc. have done things and now the PDs have dumped a lot of info if this should all be let out. I am all for FOIA and public openness but this case has gone a bit beyond I think... I hope in no way it comes back to bite is all.

I finally get a chance to watch something lol live on top of it and this hearing was actually kind of a "nothingburger" and probably not even necessary.

"Mark Wood".

I'm sorry, I'm just dying laughing.

Linda. It may seem at first like it is a repeat of facts but it is not... One takeaway is Melanie Boudreaux/Palowski. There are so many others i think need to be charged in this... Interesting the flight info, etc... Linda does connect dots...
