JOSHUA "JJ" VALLOW, TYLEE RYAN, TAMMY DAYBELL, & CHARLES VALLOW: State of Idaho/Arizona vs. Lori & Chad Daybell *GUILTY*

1580704661510.png

Police seem to be no closer to finding 7-year-old Joshua “JJ” Vallow and 17-year-old Tylee Ryan than they were when this story began months ago.

Since that time, the story has gained international attention as it’s taken twists and turns involving a purported cult, dead spouses, delusions of divinity and preparing for the end of the world. Despite all the angles, and the ever-growing number of people related to the case, the facts remain essentially the same as when it was first announced.

The two children remain missing and the parents, Lori (Vallow) Daybell, and her new husband, Chad Daybell, refuse to disclose their whereabouts to police. Both have been named persons of interest in the disappearance of the children. Law enforcement is also investigating the deaths of the Daybells’ previous respective spouses, Charles Vallow and Tammy Daybell, though neither Chad nor Lori have been named suspects in those cases.

Written timeline of events

  • August 2019 - Lori moves to Rexburg, Idaho with kids
  • September 3, 2019 - Joshua "JJ" Vallow enrolled in school
  • September 23, 2019 - JJ last attended school

I wonder if there is some strategy here in that if Chad is asking for cameras and Lori isn’t, he can sever the case from being tried together.
I think you may have nailed it. Hadn't thought that far but yes. She wants a speedy trial and won't waive the right, he doesn't. She wants one but delays things with mental evals.

Months back people made such fun of Prior and Means when he was Lori's atty. as if they are bumbling idiots but I always felt or suspected they know exactly what they are doing and especially Prior. He will get his delay on the motion regarding the fact he has to prepare for two things, the trial and the death penalty phase or so I think/heard. And the judge in this case already can't move a more minor motion along although he sure decided the camera thing far more quickly than other motions that have to have hearings to set a date to have a hearing, etc., etc.

Chad goes one way, Lori goes another and it is planned. You nailed it. Speedy trial versus wanting time. Cameras versus wanting none. I couldn't figure out why Chad wanted cameras. There was mention of something like how family and others would find it hard to attend or expensive if no cameras to watch or attend by and I thought what are they talking about??? Is he talking of his kids who he probably said I didn't kill your mom, it will all come out at trial...? But what you said makes more sense. I do know beyond a shadow of a doubt Prior is building an appeal record also. And the other name of the game is delays. Lori's deal takes the cake, she wants a speedy trial BUT her very "mental health" delays things at the same time...

It all sickens me. That it is what our system is! I know the defense attorneys are doing their jobs but it is all one big drama, a show, a circus and most of all a GAME to be played and which side will win? In most cases. Tactics, strategies, delays, etc. and yet children AND others were murdered! Not just this case. Said it before and will again, it is a broken system.

This case may never conclude in our lifetimes. And if it does, then the appeals will never conclude and it will always be rearing its ugly head. Larry is clearly sick of it and just wants to bury JJ but it is sad it wears the very ones who want justice down! WHY aren't they releasing these kids' bodies!!

So now Lori and her attys. are asking for a "stay" of the proceedings/trial/case. NOT a delay but a stay. Legal semantics... Much of the reason in the filing is blacked out/redacted but seems to hint at they intend to use some kind of mental issue in their defense or some such. Now if I have it right, she still expects a speedy trial and won't waive that right but they want a stay??

Funny how she was one way and Chad the other and in a way this now lines up with Chad trying to get things delayed. And may even help with him severing the cases which has continually been denied. if think there is orchestration here between all or quite possibly or at least one set of attorneys is watching what the other set does and they are both doing things that help both and delays overall. Lori has had delays while asking for NONE. She asks for speedy but then they request an evaluation, etc. at the same time for instance! This seems kind of the same...

Anyhow here is Nate Eaton on it. it is short. Three years in since these deaths and I don't doubt we will see far more years the way this one is before anything proceeds or any justice comes to pass. It is disgusting such can go on.

Yeah, I think the two things relate, Lori's filings although so much is redacted hard to say. Just as Chad's recent filings related to the death penalty. In my opinion it is because the trial is looming and my guess is they were ready all along to do these filings next at the appropriate time to further delay and come back with, etc. I guess they are going to put up a defense and we shouldn't be surprised.

Judge hasn't moved this case along well either. Quickest decision he made over the long period of time it has been was to block cameras. Everything else has been a motion hearing to have another hearing to set a date to have a hearing, etc., etc.

Poor family. Meaning the good ones.

I wouldn't be surprised to see this case going on yet after five years or more. Sadly. Just wrong though.

You've got to be effing kidding me! :gaah:

I am close to apoplectic over this. She has been evaluated!! And there's more, both Chad and Lori want to wear street clothes and the prosecution argued they don't need to as there won't be cameras (for hearings). Yet the prosecution does not argue the camera thing or didn't and still isn't.

Just watch, Chad will get his severance. And Lori will have helped him do so.

Here is a short one by Nate Eaton. Highly recommend listening to it. The grand jury thing is very interesting. What person or charge was the grand jury considering...??

About 8.5 minutes.

He starts out by being more understanding and nice about the delays and judge and all than I would think he would be but if you keep watching, you can feel his frustration and they just want to bury the kids. He says the trial and outcome will be what it will be when it does happen but let them have some closure with laying the kids to rest.

I can feel it and the frustration with the system as it goes on and he touches on grandparents' rights and that all these motions are delays by the defense.

Short, I think six to seven minutes. He seems a bit beaten down and that is what it does to a person. They can't even bury their grandson and trying to wait for justice to do so but that justice may take another how many months or years.

Our system needs big time change imo.

I do wonder what other recent event/case he is talking about where Kay cried that he is talking about with grandparents and kids. No idea. My first thought was Quinton but don't think that fits.

There was a female attorney who filed to have the things that keep getting kept from the public released and camera coverage etc. who Scott Reisch thought did a great thing and yet Judge Boyce picked at and responded to the filing in what seemed a condescending manner. Well anyhow Scott had her on his show tonight. Two experts. Well worth watching. Here it is. I gather she has a channel too. Haven't had a chance to look for it yet.

Yeah I mean after all Prior just came on board (NOT), the case is new (NOT), they had no idea there'd be a death penalty (NOT), the prosecution had no time to provide all (NOT) and the defense has had no time to go through all (NOT).... I think I covered almost all possible reasons to delay... So it's decided but maybe we can have some more motions and hearings to plan dates for motions and hearings to hear motions at those hearings and another hearing. And then maybe Lori can come back and then go insane again... Or ya know, maybe their wrong dated end of the world will happen by then and Lori and Chad will be eternal King and Queen and lube up their portals.

DISGUSTED.

ST. ANTHONY, Idaho (AP) — An Idaho judge is considering whether to split up the trials of a newlywed couple accused of conspiring to kill her two children and his late wife.

An attorney for Chad Daybell asked a judge Thursday that his client be tried separately from Lori Vallow Daybell, EastIdahoNews.com reported.

The attorney, John Prior, said the co-defendants will have “mutually antagonistic defenses” — a legal term that generally means a jury would have to disbelieve one defendant in order to believe the other.

Daybell and Lori Vallow Daybell were scheduled to stand trial in January in the case, in which prosecutors allege they promoted bizarre, apocalypse-focused spiritual beliefs in a plot to murder the family members and steal their money. Both Daybell and Vallow Daybell have pleaded not guilty, and Judge Steven Boyce has postponed the trial until officials can determine whether Vallow Daybell is mentally competent.

I knew it! When I heard that one interview, or comment anyway, from one of Daybell’s daughters, I had a feeling Chad was pulling away from Lori. She said something about how Lori had manipulated him. What do they think he was, bewitched by her? I don’t think that’s a defense for murder. But these days, you never know.

I am listening to this now and have had it on for a bit. Very worthwhile. Good hosts and the SIL has some humor as well. Looks like there may be a Part I but even if so, this is easy to follow I haven't seen Part I yet.
