JOSHUA "JJ" VALLOW, TYLEE RYAN, TAMMY DAYBELL, & CHARLES VALLOW: State of Idaho/Arizona vs. Lori & Chad Daybell *GUILTY*

Police seem to be no closer to finding 7-year-old Joshua “JJ” Vallow and 17-year-old Tylee Ryan than they were when this story began months ago.

Since that time, the story has gained international attention as it’s taken twists and turns involving a purported cult, dead spouses, delusions of divinity and preparing for the end of the world. Despite all the angles, and the ever-growing number of people related to the case, the facts remain essentially the same as when it was first announced.

The two children remain missing and the parents, Lori (Vallow) Daybell, and her new husband, Chad Daybell, refuse to disclose their whereabouts to police. Both have been named persons of interest in the disappearance of the children. Law enforcement is also investigating the deaths of the Daybells’ previous respective spouses, Charles Vallow and Tammy Daybell, though neither Chad nor Lori have been named suspects in those cases.

Written timeline of events
  • April 3, 2018 - Tylee Ryan's father, Joseph Ryan, dies. Death ruled heart attack.
  • December 2018 - Chad Daybell & Lori Vallow make first appearance on Preparing a People podcast.
  • February 2019 - Charles Vallow files for divorce from Lori, claiming she viewed herself as a god preparing for the second coming, and she would kill him if he got in her way.
  • February - April 2019 - Lori disappears for nearly two months, leaving her children with others.
  • June 2019 - Lori's niece demands a divorce from her husband, who says she shares similar beliefs to her aunt.
  • July 11, 2019 - Charles Vallow shot and killed by Lori's brother Alex Cox. Shooting initially ruled self-defense.
  • August 2019 - Lori moves to Rexburg, Idaho with kids
  • September 3, 2019 - Joshua "JJ" Vallow enrolled in school
  • September 23, 2019 - JJ last attended school
  • September 24, 2019 - Lori unenrolls JJ from school, saying she would be homeschooling him.
  • September 2019 - Tylee also seen in September, but it's unclear when and where (she had graduated early)
  • October 2, 2019 - Lori's niece's ex-husband was shot at, missing his head by inches. Shooter was driving a vehicle registered to Charles Vallow.
  • October 9, 2019 - Tammy Daybell, Chad's wife, called 911 and said a masked man shot at her with a paintball gun.
  • October 19, 2019 - Tammy Daybell dies, death is ruled natural
  • October 25, 2019 - Tylee, or someone using her phone, texts a friend
  • Late October / Early November 2019 - Chad Daybell & Lori Vallow get married
  • November 26, 2019 - Welfare check requested for JJ at the request of extended family - police are told he is in Arizona with family, but he is not
  • November 27, 2019 - Police return to serve a search warrant, finding the Daybell's gone
  • December 12, 2019 - Lori's brother, who had shot her ex-husband, dies mysteriously in Arizona
  • December 20, 2019 - Search for JJ and Tylee goes public
  • December 30, 2019 - LE says Lori knows where her children are but will not cooperate
  • January 25, 2020 - Chad & Lori are located in Hawaii, served with a notice that she must produce the children within 5 days
  • January 30, 2020 - Lori fails to produce JJ and Tylee

I was about to write half of what you just wrote. First of all, they were JJ’s number one advocates. Secondly, they deserve to be in there more than anyone. Even the press. I’m tired of victims continuing to be victimized by our justice system.

For sure. I heard in a video tonight that IN LAWS in cases are actually victims but aunts and uncles aren't, etc. by the statutes. How RIDICULOUS is that?

I get it is the stupid letter of the law but IN-LAWS over blood relatives???
 
This is interesting. I've heard some of these messages before but not all, or I forgot with the sheer volume of stuff we have heard, number of victims, etc.

I knew Lori told him to spend time with his family but did not know about him saying interesting news about Tammy and then waiting to see proof to verify, etc. (paraphrasing), that she had been taking over by a demonic entity and he didn't want to wait to act once seeing proof... (meaning he'd kill her?)... The rest of it I've heard before but that part not so sure...

Anyhow, it's short.

I hope anyone who can will bring the Twitter and other summaries here as I won't be able to watch every day (not that we can watch but you know what I mean).

The first trial (not ever in life but that should have had cameras that I followed that was of big interest) was Colorado murder of Kelsey Berreth by fiance Patrick Frazee. Followed that case closely and in fact I think it was the one that was going to trial when I first came here to CW. They banned cameras and reporters had to leave the courthouse like on lunch or break etc. AND leave courthouse grounds and cross the street to Tweet updates.

It was soooo wrong with the public interest and concern. It also imo covered Krystal Kenney (the one given a sweet deal that was way too sweet of a deal, not being seen or head in testimony, she was overly protected throughout imo. ) They did no audio either!

To THIS day, years later, I wish there were at least a recording and camera that one could at least go afterwards and watch! There should be for many reasons, not just public interest. Historical, proof of what really went on, etc. and trust in our court systems.

Point is I STILL think that was wrong and no one can ever go back and look. And to my knowledge, not sure if the entire transcript has ever been obtained either from the entire trial and testimony, etc.

Daybell SHOULD be at least recorded for later access. If not live or wanting to ensure a fair trial, well then do that and that will show later if it was fair or not now won't it?

It's archaic. Doesn't cost much and can easily be done these days.

Both of these two were stars in coverage of this case, and others, but many, myself included became aware of them during this case, or more aware of.

Many others are going to cover but are thanking Nate who says he will get the recordings, for all to share, etc.

Can't say enough about him honestly.
 
about him/or them. Both very good. There were four that had a video back when and it included I think the photographer, etc. as well and how they shared. Lum and Nate were two of the four.

Lauren Scharf and her photographer are two others and came to be well know in Morphew. She now no longer works in news but still covers things on that case.

I so wish I was off tomorrow, not that the first day in this many week trial will be the biggest but still, a case as with many others, I have followed throughout and as with many others have waited for justice with through much b.s. and years and I hate I can't see the start of it, well not see since no cameras, but watch for updates, tweets, etc. at least.... I can imagine how much worse for Kay and Larry as I hate that as most do.

I don't think this one is going to be an easy going trial... Just my guess...

Still, I will stick to this, it SHOULD be televised and it reeks that it isn't being or at least recorded for later. REEKS.
 
While the law doesn't require they do so, it doesn't STOP them from doing so as far as I understand it. Colorado on the other hand does have some stupid law that way as to which hearings/trials, etc. can be, etc. I believe. Not ID to my knowledge.
 
Nate says in this they will try to update every five minutes but does say first few days maybe won't be that often as jury selection and judge's instructions, etc. may be slower part but once starts, hopes to update every five minutes as i understand it...
 
Today is the day! Lori be up early curling her hair and painting her lips and choosing her costume.

Not nice I know but I couldn't help myself...
 
It's after seven in ID. Wouldn't you think someone would be recording outside the courthouse or down the block, etc.?? I think I'm just miffed as I have followed these cases for a long time, can't be home to follow and not live anyhow but still...

I'm miffed my job is more hectic. Plus, t ball is starting. Not about to miss my granddaughters ball games. Lol. I'll be hanging on evening updates mostly.
