Police seem to be no closer to finding 7-year-old Joshua “JJ” Vallow and 17-year-old Tylee Ryan than they were when this story began months ago.

Since that time, the story has gained international attention as it’s taken twists and turns involving a purported cult, dead spouses, delusions of divinity and preparing for the end of the world. Despite all the angles, and the ever-growing number of people related to the case, the facts remain essentially the same as when it was first announced.

The two children remain missing and the parents, Lori (Vallow) Daybell, and her new husband, Chad Daybell, refuse to disclose their whereabouts to police. Both have been named persons of interest in the disappearance of the children. Law enforcement is also investigating the deaths of the Daybells’ previous respective spouses, Charles Vallow and Tammy Daybell, though neither Chad nor Lori have been named suspects in those cases.

Written timeline of events
  • April 3, 2018 - Tylee Ryan's father, Joseph Ryan, dies. Death ruled heart attack.
  • December 2018 - Chad Daybell & Lori Vallow make first appearance on Preparing a People podcast.
  • February 2019 - Charles Vallow files for divorce from Lori, claiming she viewed herself as a god preparing for the second coming, and she would kill him if he got in her way.
  • February - April 2019 - Lori disappears for nearly two months, leaving her children with others.
  • June 2019 - Lori's niece demands a divorce from her husband, who says she shares similar beliefs to her aunt.
  • July 11, 2019 - Charles Vallow shot and killed by Lori's brother Alex Cox. Shooting initially ruled self-defense.
  • August 2019 - Lori moves to Rexburg, Idaho with kids
  • September 3, 2019 - Joshua "JJ" Vallow enrolled in school
  • September 23, 2019 - JJ last attended school
  • September 24, 2019 - Lori unenrolls JJ from school, saying she would be homeschooling him.
  • September 2019 - Tylee also seen in September, but it's unclear when and where (she had graduated early)
  • October 2, 2019 - Lori's niece's ex-husband was shot at, missing his head by inches. Shooter was driving a vehicle registered to Charles Vallow.
  • October 9, 2019 - Tammy Daybell, Chad's wife, called 911 and said a masked man shot at her with a paintball gun.
  • October 19, 2019 - Tammy Daybell dies, death is ruled natural
  • October 25, 2019 - Tylee, or someone using her phone, texts a friend
  • Late October / Early November 2019 - Chad Daybell & Lori Vallow get married
  • November 26, 2019 - Welfare check requested for JJ at the request of extended family - police are told he is in Arizona with family, but he is not
  • November 27, 2019 - Police return to serve a search warrant, finding the Daybell's gone
  • December 12, 2019 - Lori's brother, who had shot her ex-husband, dies mysteriously in Arizona
  • December 20, 2019 - Search for JJ and Tylee goes public
  • December 30, 2019 - LE says Lori knows where her children are but will not cooperate
  • January 25, 2020 - Chad & Lori are located in Hawaii, served with a notice that she must produce the children within 5 days
  • January 30, 2020 - Lori fails to produce JJ and Tylee

If anyone had asked me if Summer Shiflett could bring me to tears by anything she said or did, I'd have said NO WAY but her call has done that to me. I also would have not believed I could have any feeling for her.

I haven't finished it yet. I paused it (Nate has it up) to come here and say Lori just made her same toned remark to Summer that she made to Mel G on their recording. You KNOW me Summer. She said the exact same thing to Mel. You KNOW ME Mel enunciating calmly each word, same tone exactly, just a change of name. With Mel she repeated it twice I believe and the second time was just a bit stronger and paused between each word. YOU KNOW ME.

This is a THING of hers imo and she uses it You KNOW me as in you know me better than that, hinting at I wouldn't do such a thing, etc., etc. without saying it. She does it to gain their loyalty and trust if you ask me and keep them believing in her.

Hasn't worked has it...

How so? Archibald only asked here if Summer though Lori would ever kill or hurt her kids? That could play to Alex having done it or Chad or both, etc.

I do think Chad has come front and center though a lot due to testimony by various witnesses like Summer, and like Mel G. and Zulema who all said various things showing he was checked with as to if castings worked, etc. by Lori and so on. Personally I don't believe she bowed down to him or anything, I think they played pretty equally in their manipulation of all.

Your question brings up another interesting one though. Do we think Lori will stay loyal to Chad or will the defense throw both Alex and Chad under the bus rather than just Alex? It will tell us I think just if there is still a loyalty there imo.

It will tell how Lori is these days about Chad. She wouldn't let Archibald use any kind of mental health issues for her re her defense and if she doesn't want Chad fingered, I believe he would listen to his client and not do so, just as he listened to her with the mental health part.

This all makes one thing clear--Lori IS assisting in her own defense and is most assuredly capable of doing so.

And that makes me pretty certain she is the one that wanted him to get Kay and Lori banned from the courtroom before testifying. I mean he could have thought of it and done it but the points made about it and it being done has Lori written all over it.

I wonder if Summer watched her cousin last night... This is almost word for word what her cousin said just last night about Alex... EVERY single bit of it... We know the cousin hadn't heard Summer but Summer sure could have heard the video of her cousin.

The car accident, the never the same, the fact he was a lot of fun and funny but could be crude. ALL of it.

Not sure. I'd definitely say she has his eyes but then he said he looked like Alex too. I didn't really catch which side of the family she was related through, Barry or Janice. She didn't talk great of her own childhood...
 
Went back now and finished the phone call and am all for Summer as she gets angry and lets Lori have it and puts her on the spot repeatedly and boy if you ask me do the right remarks and questions come to her.

Lori has no emotion at all. None. If my sister or mother or brother or friend or even a stranger was that heartbrokenly falling apart and sobbing I wouldn't be able to help sobbing as well. Heck if a stranger was, it would probably evoke the same in me. Not any crying or any tears, but heartwrenching ones have that effect on me. Lori is cold as ice. If Lori took the stand, she'd be in deep trouble fast. I know it was recorded and Lori "couldn't" talk but even if she could have, there is NOTHING that explains it and she wouldn't be able to answer Summer or any human that didn't "believe their sh*t and b.s. cult teachings" and Lori KNOWS it.

It is. Even the anger is. I can identify but in a different way with confronting one who has murdered or been part of one. In her case, it is her sister but boy do I understand the anger over what she did to them.

I never would have thought I could root for Summer but when she got angry, I was like you GO for it, keep giving it!

I stopped it for that reason, I was crying and knew I felt what she was experiencing on this finding out what she did and the sheer devastation of it. I also stopped it to not lose train of thought to comment before it went on and say as much. Without knowing, I paused it right near the end of her sobbing and when I went back to it (which was sometime later) and hit play she was right near the end of the sobbing and starting to become angry. It was a perfect pause point and I didn't even know it. I haven't listened to her testimony and don't know when I'll get that chance, I saw the clip or two and tweet or two about a couple of things.

Alex was left home to look after Stacy. Stacy "died" and he used her credit card. She was cremated. Similar to Alex taking care of JJ when he was killed.

Maybe they discussed Chad at the end and it was hearsay or something. Would they be able to play that if they did?

Both Lori and Chad have a chance to blame this all on Alex. I wonder if that is what they will do? Except for Tammy's death. The paintball incident was clearly Alex. Nothing much has been said yet about Tammy has it?
 
So, that phone call between Summer and Lori was some of that teeth sinking info I was talking about. Summer is completely hysterical and Lori is cool as a cucumber. She wanted some happiness. Right after your kids were murdered? 66% of your offspring are dead and you're dancing on the beach (Go Summer!).
