Police seem to be no closer to finding 7-year-old Joshua “JJ” Vallow and 17-year-old Tylee Ryan than they were when this story began months ago.

Since that time, the story has gained international attention as it’s taken twists and turns involving a purported cult, dead spouses, delusions of divinity and preparing for the end of the world. Despite all the angles, and the ever-growing number of people related to the case, the facts remain essentially the same as when it was first announced.

The two children remain missing and the parents, Lori (Vallow) Daybell, and her new husband, Chad Daybell, refuse to disclose their whereabouts to police. Both have been named persons of interest in the disappearance of the children. Law enforcement is also investigating the deaths of the Daybells’ previous respective spouses, Charles Vallow and Tammy Daybell, though neither Chad nor Lori have been named suspects in those cases.

Written timeline of events
  • April 3, 2018 - Tylee Ryan's father, Joseph Ryan, dies. Death ruled heart attack.
  • December 2018 - Chad Daybell & Lori Vallow make first appearance on Preparing a People podcast.
  • February 2019 - Charles Vallow files for divorce from Lori, claiming she viewed herself as a god preparing for the second coming, and she would kill him if he got in her way.
  • February - April 2019 - Lori disappears for nearly two months, leaving her children with others.
  • June 2019 - Lori's niece demands a divorce from her husband, who says she shares similar beliefs to her aunt.
  • July 11, 2019 - Charles Vallow shot and killed by Lori's brother Alex Cox. Shooting initially ruled self-defense.
  • August 2019 - Lori moves to Rexburg, Idaho with kids
  • September 3, 2019 - Joshua "JJ" Vallow enrolled in school
  • September 23, 2019 - JJ last attended school
  • September 24, 2019 - Lori unenrolls JJ from school, saying she would be homeschooling him.
  • September 2019 - Tylee also seen in September, but it's unclear when and where (she had graduated early)
  • October 2, 2019 - Lori's niece's ex-husband was shot at, missing his head by inches. Shooter was driving a vehicle registered to Charles Vallow.
  • October 9, 2019 - Tammy Daybell, Chad's wife, called 911 and said a masked man shot at her with a paintball gun.
  • October 19, 2019 - Tammy Daybell dies, death is ruled natural
  • October 25, 2019 - Tylee, or someone using her phone, texts a friend
  • Late October / Early November 2019 - Chad Daybell & Lori Vallow get married
  • November 26, 2019 - Welfare check requested for JJ at the request of extended family - police are told he is in Arizona with family, but he is not
  • November 27, 2019 - Police return to serve a search warrant, finding the Daybell's gone
  • December 12, 2019 - Lori's brother, who had shot her ex-husband, dies mysteriously in Arizona
  • December 20, 2019 - Search for JJ and Tylee goes public
  • December 30, 2019 - LE says Lori knows where her children are but will not cooperate
  • January 25, 2020 - Chad & Lori are located in Hawaii, served with a notice that she must produce the children within 5 days
  • January 30, 2020 - Lori fails to produce JJ and Tylee

Totallly agree. He cuts through and hits the points that mater but also explains how it all works and what it is. He is a keeper. He has earned his following and I feel he is growing and getting bigger and very well known and branching out but he continues his real and down home real person to real viewers way.

Sometimes they are private attorneys who are on the public defender list and depending on state sometimes they have to do so much of such type of work, etc. She had no funds after her and Chad had to quit using the same one and then it was Mark Means and Prior for each separately. Not even sure how Means was paid (by Chad?) or if he fell for Lori and did it out of the goodness of his heart. Can't recall quite honestly.... He was NOT a murder kind of criminal atty. I know that. Small time attorney kept being said, like small crimes, etc.

Means got the deeds of Chad's house didn't he for his payment? Lori has a public defender so I guess that includes the appeal. They murdered for money but didn't have any for lawyers. Maybe the life insurance companies also sued for the return of the payouts.

No, pretty sure Prior has the deed to Chad's house. (Chad's lawyer to this day).

I can't figure out for the life of me Chad's desire to have cameras. BUT Prior alludes to all these reporters and shows contacting him and so forth... I personally think it is about the money... It almost sounded like news orgs and channel holders are asking them to ask for cameras... Are there any payoffs going on here or if they get trial footage going on some deal later... I don't know...

NOTHING about Chad gives me one reason or thought of why he'd want cameras re his awful acts... I've thought of every reason. So his kids can watch and not attend? Why would he want them hearing the other side of things? That doesn't fit. What is it...???? I think it's money. I seriously do. If they help get cameras in the courtroom I think there will be a "secret?" benefit for it... Who OTHER than a defendant is a judge most likely to not go against? Defendant's rights ya know, appeal bases, etc. Maybe Chad himself wants footage and still pics for his next BOOK.

I actually have watched most of this now tonight, have a few or a bit more than minutes left and even though this was a calm status hearing, I found it pretty interesting... More on that if I get time.

Thank you for the feedback on it before I could watch. I was able to see your post about the cameras not knowing if I would get time to watch it and yes, that is I think the biggest takeaway.

Comes back again to the only thing I can think of and that's money. For him. For Prior. OR fame. For Chad. He has wanted that hasn't he with his worthless books and so forth... NOTICE? He comes across as he doesn't want it, all nonassuming but look at what he has wanted at the same time.... To be someone. To be a famous author. To be special. To have a hot blonde on his arm (I have never thought Lori hot, she to me always looked like an aging anorexic bleached thing with all the botox etc. her different hub's money could buy but for Chad she was)...
 
First thing of note is a surface thing, appearance thing. What happened to Chad having shoulders....? He is very slopey shouldered with none. Couldn't not note this throughout. Is he trying a Richard Allen thing? Oh look at me, even though in shirt and tie, I am wasting away. OR maybe he is becoming an ethereal being...

HE sits there throughout in what we have gotten used to/expect, never moving, almost like statuary. He FINALLY moved his head and self a bit when next date was given for court. I'd have to guess he wrote it down knowing when next to be excited he would be out of his cell again and get to sit like a ZOMBIE but one who seems to be paying attention but so still. 'This guy is WEIRD. And again wants cameras WHY? Because this is what they capture of Chad repeatedly now through the time he has been incarcerated and attends hearings. It could be the same day each time but for like now his loss of shoulders because he rarely looks one bit different and always is statuary.

OHHH That is it, he is an immortalized god, i almost said saint but no a god... A supreme being,doesn't move, doesn't need to, or even breathe. Just like Lori who claimed to need no food because she is a goddess or whatever the heck these two's con game is...

UGH. But the man lost his shoulders. I gather he does't work out.

Definitely a thought that crossed my mind more than once.

I also just think Prior is going to get paid further this way. They have interest or perhaps not so kosher dealings that if Chad asks for cameras (and defendants often aren't denied especially with transparency) those channels and reporters and book writers etc. out there well get footage and such that wouldn't exist otherwise and we have a judge that has a leaning towards no cameras even in a trial of high public interest and reason for it... (Like in Lori's)...
 
The next takeaway I had from this simple hearing (which I still have not finished the last few minutes of) was Prior calmly made a remark that I think as it went, Lindsey Blake knows THIS case is going to have a defense unlike the last one there WILL be a defense presented... THIS was a KEY thing just casually thrown in there...

We all know Lori had no defense at all, the proecution did a great case but they had no opposition to speak of whatsoever. Whether that was due to Lori tying Archie's hands or Archie himself doing nothing, it was very lackluster on the defense side.

People, myself include, have joked about Prior, made personal insults, etc. through these years BUT he is no slouch as a lawyer. The man knows his stuff. I like to dismiss defense attorneys as game players with no real sh*t like Iris Eytan, her I still do, but Prior is different. That man in two minutes flat tops had Mel Gibb on the defense and showing her snarky side which she never shows, she is all sweetness and calm is what she likes to portray. He got to her in no time.

And THAT was really the only small taste we got of what he is going to do at trial. Archie went at no one except a bit at the Audrey person who seemed to be just a wandering lost soul and Chad and Lori wannabe...

I think without doubt Chad will be found guilty but Prior is going to fill the courtroom with hot coals day after day. I also doubt Mel P will be able to just blow off testifying as she did in the last one.

Anyhow, he threw down the gauntlet in just a normal voice so to speak and says the pros knows THIS case is going to have a defense.

Just in normal conversation at a status hearing. This is worth a watch for a few reasons like this one...
 
Boyce is being his usual self but that in and of itself one can read....

Blake mentions that there likely won't be any DNA testing or results to wait on as it appears and is letting Boyce know and lightly points out that the whole thing that got the cases severed, Prior decided not to test the DNA anyhow so hinting at it was all a game... She said state has no intent to but Prior wanted that opportunity which severed the cases and now he isn't even going to do it. I am very much paraphrasing. She got her point across without making a big show.... She mentions the cost and toll on witnesses and more in severing the cases over something Prior never even pursued or intended to after it resulting in severance (meaning I am sure was his entire goal but he didn't care about the testing and sh*t he claimed after he got his goal of cases severed). All calm talk but point made. Again I am much paraphrasing. Prior calmly in answers about a few things that he wants to just say he takes some offense at this judge and he needed the info etc. and time to even EVALUATE with an expert whether it was something they should test.... Apparently it wasn't... And there goes the exculpatory b.s. game and legal process GAME.

Judge Boyce has to point out of course this was news to him (no testing would take place) and that he knew nothing of this (better take your time before you say much right)... Or is he just acting as if he didn't...

The man severed the trials and had to take DP off the table for Lori. He severed because of time running out and one wanting speedy, one not AND because both sides were throwing stuff BUT he severed because Chad's side needed to test this thing and didn't have time but Loris' had to proceed because speedy trial time was running/ran out. And then Chad's atty is NOT testing it anyhow nor intend to. That is the way I understand it.

I have said all along both cases and defenses and Chad and Lori have played the system together. And in that sense it has worked. It didn't get Lori off or anything but it severed and it ended up with the DP having to be removed from hers.
 
Finally, of interest is that in discussing time frames and all else, Blake informs the judge they have three motions they will have coming and being filed... I wonder what they will be...? That is from the prosecution not the defense...

I have not had time to watch the final few minutes and seriously doubt I will have but am trying to help and share what I did see and take from it last night...

I found a simple status hearing well worth a watch if anyone wants to and much to be gleaned reading between the lines.

There is always a way around everything though right...

The man is a statue with no movement or emotion and not charming or anything so WHY would he want cameras? Prior hinted at all this media, all these reporters, etc. bugging them constantly as to asking for cameras and more...

There is something here.

Lori's side didn't want cameras and she LOVES the camera. Chad is not a camera type at all and he wants them??

Is he going to call on his POWERS that day and end the world and run free and rise above and he WANTS it on film? Sarcasm...

And for all his toad like behavior, we know the man wanted fame and to be of import re his books, godlike status, seminars or whatever, etc... We aren't seeing the true Chad in court I don't think...

Maybe he simply wants them because this will be his one big moment in the sun and all about him... Immortalized. Famous. My goodness who knows.... Prior confirmed his client maintains his stance of wanting cameras. Is Chad trying to endear himself to the public who want cameras (us) and to media and reporters, etc.? Gag.

Something is up here. Just saying... Don't know what it is...
