Jeremy Williams ready to stand trial on Kamarie Holland murder despite the fact he’s already entered a guilty plea

Monday morning an unusual courtroom drama will begin to play out in the Russell County Judicial Center.

Jeremy Williams will go on trial for the murder and rape of 5-year-old Kamarie Holland. There will be a trial – complete with a jury – despite the fact that Williams has already entered a guilty plea in front of Circuit Court Judge David Johnson.

This is happening because Alabama law requires that guilt or innocence in a death penalty case must be decided by a 12-person jury. It can’t be done by a simple plea.

And – make no mistake – the Russell County District Attorney’s Office is seeking the death penalty against Jeremy Williams.

And this is the road they must travel to secure it.

Jeremy Williams has confessed to law enforcement and admitted in open court that he raped, sodomized and strangled to death the little girl after making her take methamphetamines.

He then admitted to raping her corpse – and it’s all on video.

Despite all that, a substantially larger than normal jury pool will show up Monday morning as jury selection begins.

The state needs 12 people who say they can be fair and impartial in rendering a verdict.

Judge David Johnson has issued a gag order in this case. District Attorney Rick Chancey declined comment on Friday.

What??? WTF? That's twice now in a few days I have used the F in that. I have NEVER. All can look back at every post and never ever do I use WTF? I use WTH.

So even if the plead guilt, admit, thre is footage and no one did them wrong with Miranda rights, etc. in AL that isn't enough?!! This is NEWS to me and another thing to rail about with the system. And so they actuallky WANT the expense and to put jurors and families through it and more?

I am going to stop there because I smh so dam*Ed hard at this world any longer. AND ON TOP OF IT just look at this CASE! And what was done to this child! AND even though we haven't heard all of it, the overwhelming evidence we do know of.

Okay. Out of here because this is angering me big time. @Mel70 ever heard of something like THIS?

Man confessed to raping, murdering Kamarie Holland ‘to get right with God’ before execution

The man who raped and murdered a 5-year-old Georgia girl whose body was found in an abandoned Alabama house told deputies he confessed to the crimes “to get right with God” before he’s executed, according to testimony in Jeremy Williams’ death penalty trial.

Williams, 39, pleaded guilty last month, but the trial in Russel County will decide whether he is put to death for the murder of Kamarie Holland.

During the trial on Wednesday, jurors were also shown graphic footage of Williams’ sexually assaulting the girl, WRBL reported.

Some law enforcement personnel in the courtroom were fighting back tears as the footage was displayed, according to the station.

Williams confessed to raping and murdering Kamarie as well as his 1-month-old daughter in Alaska -- a cold case that was reopened after the confession, WRBL reported.

The confession was made during a five-hour interview with the Russell County Sheriff’s Office in 2021.

When a deputy asked Williams why he was confessing he said it was because he “wanted to get right with God before he’s executed,” according to the station.

Missed the trial for Kamarie. But good news.

Jury finds man guilty of capital murder after killing 5-year-old Phenix City girl
A man who previously pleaded guilty for the murder of a five-year-old Phenix City girl has now been found guilty by a jury in Russell County.

Jeremy Tremaine Williams was found guilty on capital murder charges involving the death of Kamarie Holland, who was killed on Dec. 13, 2021, after being raped and strangled by Williams. Williams had previously pleaded guilty to the charges.

However, Alabama law dictates that a case carrying the death penalty cannot be resolved by pleading guilty.

He was found guilty of the following:

Capital murder for the death of a child under the age of 14.
Capital murder for killing her in course of kidnapping.
Capital murder for killing her while committing first-degree rape.
Capital murder for killing her while committing first-degree sodomy.

The court will determine in a separate hearing Monday if Williams should be executed as a result of this case.

Over the past few days the jury was shown video evidence of Holland’s sexual abuse by Williams and the response of CPD officers who found Holland’s body.

Friday morning began with the testimony of someone claiming to be a former victim of Williams. The individual was 5-years-old at the time, the same age Holland was when she was sexually abused, tied up with rope, and strangled by Williams.

Chancey said he deliberated which videos of Holland’s assault to show and said they added 15 people who will forever be unable to unsee the images from the video of Holland’s assault. He apologized to the member of the jury for that.

These two should both be executed. With some it is a no brainer. Not even other inmates and guards should have to be near or deal with them nor anyone on the face of this earth.

@Mel70 A WIN. Major one. FOUR COUNTS. Not that he won't live for years and not that anything is a happy face where this child and what was done to her is concerned but these days a statement like this doesn't even get often heard that SOME even though not carried out half the time, ever or for years, what they did was so bad they get GIVEN THE DP. As they SHOULD.
