Karen Read accused of backing into boyfriend and leaving him to die *MISTRIAL*

This woman didn't do this. I'd be willing to bet that someone in the house did it. Someone in the house looked up "How long will it take for somebody to die in the cold." Karen couldn't have done that search.

Is there a cover up conspiracy?

Dog bite expert testifies

The second defense witness was forensic pathologist Dr. Marie Russell, an expert on dog bites who has examined between 500-1,000 dog bites. The prosecution had sought to keep this witness from testifying, but the judge allowed her to take the stand.

She was asked specifically about the injuries to O'Keefe's right arm, a photo of which was displayed on a TV screen.

"I believe that these injuries were sustained by an animal," Russell said, "possibly a large dog, because of the pattern of the injuries." She said the injuries are consistent with teeth or claw marks.

During cross examination, Lally asked Russell how she found out about the case. She said she first learned about it when she read an article about the case in The Boston Globe last month.

  • 12:40 p.m. Russell says she has reviewed a dog-bite history for Chloe, the dog that lived at 34 Fairview Road. The report has pictures of what Chloe's bite marks look like. Lally asks if those marks are similar to O'Keefe's injuries. "No, but..." she says.
  • 12:36 p.m. 12:36 p.m. Lally is asking about 2008 report on the reliability of bite mark evidence. She says she hasn't read the report but has heard that bite marks might not be able to be identified to a specific dog.
  • 12:34 p.m. Russell says she initially learned about the case last month in an article in the "Boston Globe". She reached out to a local prosecutor in Los Angeles, who put her in touch with Read's defense attorney Alan Jackson.
  • 12:30 p.m. Russell she did not initially review all the materials about O'Keefe's injuries, because she had technical difficulties opening the files. Says she has now reviewed them all.
  • 12:25 p.m. Prosecutor Lally begin cross examination of Dr. Russell.

  • 3:18 p.m. Green is dismissed. Judge says the jury can go home. She says they are on track to start deliberating next week.
  • 3:17 p.m. Green says Ian Whiffin's analysis was not done with this particular version of the operating system used by Jen McCabe's phone.
  • 3:07 p.m. Green says he has changed his opinion on a certain point since filing his affidavit last year. Lally: "You've done further testing and you were wrong?" Green: "That's correct."
  • 3:03 p.m. Lally is asking a technical question about deletions in databases. "I'm having a little trouble answering," Green says. Asks him to explain again. Lally: "Do you not understand the question?" Judge tells Lally to move on.
  • 2:55 p.m. Green says about geo-location on Read's phone: "I did find deleted location data from April of 2022." He can't recall if he looked for deleted data on Read's phone. Says he can't remember if he "would have cause to."
  • 2:50 p.m. Green says he doesn't have any certifications from Cellebrite (the phone data tool company) but has participated in a lot of events with the company.
  • 2:49 p.m. Lally begins cross examination by asking if Green is aware that Jessica Hyde and Ian Whiffin have come to different conclusions.
  • 2:47 p.m. Green says 100% of the calls on McCabe's phone from earlier in the day were deleted. "Those would have been user-deleted," he says.
  • 2:38 p.m. Green says he found several user-deleted artifacts on McCabe's phone. Says he knows of no internal functions that would have caused those deletions.
  • 2:37 p.m. Green says he believes the Google search happened at or before 2:27am. "It's all consistent with that search happening at that time," he says.
  • 2:26 p.m. "You saved me," Green says after defense attorney David Yannetti reminds him of the name of one of the tools he used to analyze the phone data.
  • 2:24 p.m. "It was in a deleted state," Green says of the Google search artifact.
  • 2:23 p.m. Green says he found a Google search on Jen McCabe's phone for "hos long to die in cold" at 2:27am. (Prosecution witnesses have previously testified that's when the tab was opened, but not when the search was performed.)
  • 2:21 p.m. Green says iPhone health data show O'Keefe took 36 steps at about 12:31 a.m.
  • 2:14 p.m. Green says the health app data shows O'Keefe took 80 steps and ascended/descended three floors during the time he was in the area of 34 Fairview Road.

It looks far more like that than taillight pieces causing it. Taillight pieces works also have his blood and/or tissue on then, yet there were none found on them.

Have you never seen dog scratches or bites? It looks exactly like that from my experience. My experience being related to helping with dog and cat rescue groups for years and a kid that works for vets. That's exactly what they often look like when bitten/scratched through clothing.
I had a look on the net at some dog bite pics today and they were horrific, I have to say. Some people nearly losing fingers and very serious requiring many stitches in some cases. To me those wounds look like falling against and grazing the arm against a brick or concrete wall IM0. Not serious life threatening injuries by the look of it. Are there any pics of the head injuries or whatever injuries actually killed him?

The ME testified that the arm injuries were not life threatening and did not contribute to Mr. O'Keefe's death. Below is a link to the autopsy photos including the head injuries. The ME determined cause of death to be blunt impact (Head) and hypothermia, but could not determine the manner of his death.

They weren't ever considered serious injuries nor ever described as such. The CW is insisting and bagging their case that they came from the taillight shards, which it appears that is the least likely cause it we would have some of his tissue and/or blood on many of those pieces. They have found none of that on any pieces.

So, once again, I think you are also agreeing that those marks did not come from him being stuck by her taillight at that low speed.
