Deputies searching for pregnant Pierce County woman who disappeared under suspicious circumstances

A Pierce County family is desperate for answers in the search of a missing pregnant woman who seemingly vanished Tuesday morning.

Loved ones say it was the ultimate red flag when Kassanndra Cantrell, 33, failed to show up to her first ultrasound this week, something she’d so been looking forward, something they say she wouldn’t willingly miss.

“This is not normal, she wouldn’t just vanish…I just need her back," said Marie Smith, Cantrell's mother.

It’s been an agonizing four days since Smith last saw her daughter. It was early Tuesday morning when Smith was heading out to work.

"She just said 'have a good day at work' I said 'thank you'. She said 'love you' and I said 'love you'. And that was the last time," said Smith about her last conversation with her daughter.

About an hour later, at 8:45 a.m. a security camera caught her driving away in her 2014 white Mazda sedan from her and mother’s Parkland home. The only plan her mom knew she had that day was at some point to go to the grocery store.

“I don't think that's where she was going when she left. Everything seemed to indicate she was going to see somebody because if she was going to the grocery store she would’ve just put her hair in a ponytail and put on some jeans and headed out, but it was clear she’d taken a shower and gotten dressed. She had taken some extra time, she doesn’t do that just to go grocery shopping," said Smith.

When she didn’t return home later that day or answer any calls, the fear started to sink in. even more so when they discovered her phone was turned off. “She never turns her phone off, and she wouldn’t stop all her social interactions. It doesn’t make any sense, something has happened.”

The nightmare deepened when Cantrell didn’t show up for her very first ultrasound appointment on Wednesday afternoon.

“She wouldn’t have missed it for the world, it doesn’t make any sense for her to be gone at all," said Smith.

Smith said her daughter was about three months pregnant. The father is a friend, and though unexpected, for Cantrell it was the most welcomed surprise.

“When she found out she was thrilled because she wasn’t sure that she'd have a chance to have a baby and so she was really excited, she already picked out names," said Smith.

That last article may be difficult, I'm not sure. They usually have a paywall. I was surprised I could read it. Possibly because of my location they opened it up. (I copied a bit more info over from the article.)

Yes, the phone was found in the park. At Owen Beach. This pic that I posted on page 3 is from this beach.

Regarding the vehicles...I'm not sure how specific they're being. We discussed earlier all of the potential cameras in that area. And the transit center. The transit center has a large parking garage with cameras as well. So, somewhere in that area, he was seen arriving in Kassanndra's vehicle. And leaving in a truck. It would only be about a mile and a half walk if he dropped the truck off earlier. But I suspect someone else (girlfriend?) may have either dropped the truck there or picked him up.

My best guess based on this information is that he harmed her, then he went and dumped her phone at the park. Then probably waited for it to get dark, cleaned up etc, and took her to dump her body at this cliff area in her vehicle, and then dumped her vehicle.
It does seem two may definitely be involved. I keep thinking of the search of his home... I mean it may have just been for say computer records and such but it seems like they pretty quickly called him a suspect and said they were treating this as a likely homicide if I recall? That left me feeling the crime scene could have been in the home...

Did it say how long they have had the phone? Or when they found it? Sorry for the questions...

If two were involved, to think we have dumb times two that apparently thought they had a good plan... Smh. The way it looks LE was very on the ball with this and onto it pretty quickly. I always, like many, get worried when things go quiet and this did, but apparently they were hard at it...

They haven't released that, to my knowledge. But I know they were searching the water at the park very early on. I assume they located it very early and just never released that to the public.
That makes sense. It was the last ping though right? They just never said they found it... Which explains the family searching the park because of the ping, it is all they had--that and the car location... Or at least all we knew of, the family may have known more but probably not. So devastating she was found but also glad she was found and an arrest made--there aren't words are there? Her poor family.

This info sounds like he walked, a bit different. In that case, maybe it was only him... It is time this creep be named, I suppose or would think when he is charged, that will come out.

He walked from where he dumped her car, to the parking garage where his truck was located. My assumption is that this was the Tacoma Dome transit station. Only a block or two from where he dumped her car. (Still unclear if he parked the truck there prior, or if someone dropped it off for him. Could be either, really. He had a lot of time.)

If you're looking at the map....Look where her car was found, and go about two blocks east. You'll see Tacoma Dome Station. Large garage there.

At first I was afraid he pushed her over the cliff when she was alive, but for some reason I feel better knowing that he didn't. I just hope she didn't know what was going on. I'm so sad.

He is charged with murder 1, I know the name but am hesitant to put it out. He is booked. Let me know if I can give the name out.

Murder 1, guessing because it is clearly premeditated, he set her up and clearly planned this the way it looks.

If he is charged, the name should be out today I would think. It doesn't matter much, not like we would know him, but as the charged perp, his anonymity should be ending I would guess...

Yeah I've never heard of somebody being arrested for murder and their name isn't out there.

Investigators said Colin Patrick Dudley, 37, was taken into custody at his home in Tacoma without incident in which the SWAT unit was also deployed to the residence. A spokesman for the sheriff's office said the man was booked into the Pierce County Jail on suspicion of murder. It was not immediately clear if bond had been set in the case.

Murder 1. So senseless like all such acts are. Smh.

His mug shot should be coming soon...

Here's a pic from Daily Mail of his arrest.

This should be a really easy conviction based on what we know. Possibly even a plea deal if he's got a defense worth anything. Not that he deserves it.

He was seen on surveillance dumping her vehicle.
They used GPS from his vehicle to find her body.
They can probably place his truck GPS in Point Defiance where her phone was found as well (speculating with this one).
She was wrapped in something. Forensics may match it to something that came from the home, or something he purchased (speculating with this one as well).

Not smart. I obviously hate when people do this, but I love when they're complete and utter fools about it.
