LIBBY GERMAN & ABBY WILLIAMS: Indiana vs. Richard Allen for 2017 murder of two Delphi girls *TRIAL IN PROGRESS*

On February 14, 2017, the bodies of Abigail Williams and Liberty German were discovered near the Monon High Bridge Trail, which is part of the Delphi Historic Trails in Delphi, Indiana, United States, after the young girls had disappeared from the same trail the previous day. The murders have received significant media coverage because a photo and audio recording of an individual believed to be the girls' murderer was found on German's smartphone. Despite the audio and video recordings of the suspect that have been circulated and the more than 26,000 tips that police have received, no arrest in the case has been made.[1][2][3]

Police have not publicly stated nor released details of how the girls were murdered.[6] As early as February 15, 2017, Indiana State Police began circulating a still image of an individual reportedly seen on the Monon High Bridge Trail near where the two friends were slain; the grainy photograph appearing to capture a Caucasian male, with hands in pockets, walking on the rail bridge, head down, toward the girls.[4] A few days later, the person in the photograph was named the prime suspect in the double-homicide.[5]

On February 22, law enforcement released an audio recording where the voice of the assailant,[7] though in some degree muffled, is heard to say, "Down the hill." It was at this news conference that officials credited the source of the audio and imagery to German's smartphone, and, further, regarded her as a hero for having had the uncanny foresight and fortitude to record the exchange in secret. Police indicated that additional evidence from the phone had been secured, but that they did not release it so as not to "compromise any future trial." By this time, the reward offered in the case was set at $41,000.[5]

Judge grants motion to dismiss 5 of 30 charges against Indiana man in child porn case

An Indiana man who admitted to making a fake online profile to target underage girls was in court on Thursday.

According to our sister station WTHR in Indianapolis, this was supposed to be the final pre-trial hearing for Kegan Kline, who is facing charges for child pornography.

Miami County Judge Timothy Spahr granted a motion to dismiss five of the 30 charges against Kline. The prosecutor had requested the dismissal, claiming there was insufficient evidence to prove those five charges.

This comes more than two years after Kline was arrested and allegedly admitted to creating the “anthony_shots” profile that police investigated in connection to the 2017 murders of Libby German and Abby Williams in Delphi. Kline has not been charged with their murders and is not officially a suspect in the case.

An additional pre-trial conference is now planned for Jan. 26, 2023, and Kline’s trial is scheduled to start on May 10, 2023.
I can't believe it's been this long. I bet their families feel different. It's just time goes so fast. They would have graduated now. I am probably missing something, But what was the motive. Since the one was groomed it seemed. Fear of being caught?. I try to keep up with cases, But I kind of lost this one. My mom got sick a few months later until over a year later. So if I am missing something fill me in please. I saw most of it I think.

I've never ever had a problem with defense attorneys. I am more concerned about the prosecution playing games in any case not just this one, when you have the whole state and money backing them you need a good attorney even if you are guilty imo. You have to be absolutely sure they are following the law and I think its a fact they don't always do that. I mean all of LE. The DA is famous for holding back evidence or sending over tons of boxes for the defense to go through. Most defense attorneys don't have the money to hire people to do that. So I'm not sure how good most people get defended. Without money its nearly impossible.

Now in this case I do have a problem with how long it took to arrest this guy. Years? The witnesses? Not reliable to me at this point. The bullet? No. Now that may very well change when we start hearing the evidence and listening to the witnesses. Witnesses in general are not real good imo. Why didn't they know him then? How long has he lived in that town? Worked at CVS? I just find it all very strange. And like I said they may very well have reasons for all of it. I don't know at this point.

It looks to me like he has good lawyers and I think that 's a good thing. I think we need someone like the Innocence Project again making sure they are guilty. The death penalty is forever and I am in favor of the DP. I do know people have been found to be innocent on death row, not many but again its a good thing imo to make sure they are guilty in my view. So I have no problem with the innocence project, and its not that they are backing the guilty to me. To me they are insuring they are guilty.

Ima
I think the witnesses were teens in the main except for one woman walking a dog. The teens would possibly not know someone working at a pharmacy as parents usually pick up prescriptions. The woman was not from Delphi IIRC.

Regarding the length of time they have taken on this (eg. KK home was searched just a week after the murders) , I would not be surprised if this is a big paedo ring they are looking at and there are others they are pursuing.

That's my guess as well. I hope they get all of them. This might be a case where one member is a psychopath.

DM article discussing that the girls were victims of a kidnapping plot that went wrong.

"Murdered Delphi teenagers Liberty German and Abigail Williams were victims of a botched kidnapping plot hatched by members of a local pedophile ring.

This is just one of a host of disturbing new details and allegations that can be exclusively revealed by DailyMail.com - including gruesome details about how the girls died, and that police dug up the prime suspect's dead cat, in an effort to match hairs found on their bodies.

The revelations come just two weeks after authorities released a redacted version of the probable cause affidavit that led to Richard Allen's arrest."

"DailyMail.com has learned that, shortly after his arrest, one of Allen's neighbors recalled seeing police digging in his yard.

Now, DailyMail.com has been told they were digging up the family's dead cat, whose hair proved a match for the samples found on one of the victims.

Carroll County Prosecutor Nicholas McLeland has openly stated that he believes 'Allen is not the only actor involved in this.'

And while Allen has not been charged with kidnapping, prosecutors have alleged he attempted it.

Now sources close to the investigation have claimed that Allen was acting with at least two other men and was involved in a child sex ring."

"During one of several police interviews reviewed by DailyMail.com, Kline admitted to soliciting underage girls for nude pictures by catfishing them, posing as teenage girl 'Emily Anne' or hunky actor model, 'Anthony Shots.'

It was as Shots that he communicated with German.

Chillingly, 'Shots' was one of the last people to communicate with the girls before they took their fateful walk on Delphi's Monon High Bridge Trail."

From the article:

Logan's alibi was shown to be a lie, and text messages retrieved from his phone showed that he was out of his house and 'in the vicinity of the murders' on the evening of February 13.

The FBI document also noted Logan asked his relative to lie for him the following morning, before the crimes were even discovered.

Logan died at the age of 84 on January 24, 2022, and was never named as a suspect.

But now sources have told DailyMail.com that Logan, who had a history of violence against women, was involved.

I knew Logan's story was bull :poop: So he was involved. Since two people thought he was the bridge guy, I wonder if Kline is leaving :poop: out.

This is the DM remember. It is one hell of a story that he was taking them to Logan's though. How would they know that for a start and what a difficult way to take them - across a creek and up a steep bank? I think it is possible Logan was protecting someone or hiding something he knew though.

I thought that digging up the dead Allen family cat and matching the cat hairs to the crime scene was pretty good evidence though, if that is true.

Judge to hear arguments this week on multiple issues in Delphi murder case involving Richard Allen

A special judge will handle multiple issues this week regarding the Delphi murder case.

A hearing is set for Friday, Jan. 13. Judge Fran Gull was initially set to hear arguments on a change of venue and a gag order in the case against Richard Allen.

Allen’s defense attorneys requested a change of venue away from Carroll County because of the high-profile nature of the murders. A temporary gag order has been in effect since December; Gull could institute a gag order barring anyone from talking about the case until it goes to trial.

The court will now hear additional arguments regarding requests made by Allen’s defense counsel, according to a court order filed Monday. On Dec. 30, defense lawyers filed a discovery request asking for a cavalcade of information, including the names and addresses of potential witnesses the state may call. Gull will also hold a hearing on Allen’s attorneys’ request to fund additional investigators.

The lengthy ”Supplemental Motion for Discovery and Request for Rule 404 and Rule 405 Evidence” filed on Dec. 30 seeks the names and addresses of all witnesses involved in the case, including recorded or transcribed statements. Allen’s attorneys also want the names and addresses of individuals who may have knowledge of the case but aren’t being called as witnesses by the state.

The motion asks for statements from anyone who conducted “any test, experiment, examination, or comparison, made in connection with this particular case.” That information includes the “results of physical or mental examinations and of scientific tests, experiments or comparisons,” regardless of whether the state intends to use them.

The motion calls for the state to turn over any phone records or recordings of phone calls made by Allen, if they exist. Attorneys also want phone records, books, papers, tapes, documents, photographs, video tapes and “other tangible objects and evidence” that belong to Allen and may be used by the prosecution.

Allen’s attorneys requested any investigatory information gathered in the case, including written reports, maps, drawings or diagrams from the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office, local police department, Indiana State Police, Federal Bureau of Investigation, the medical examiner’s office and “any other law enforcement agency or any private individual in connection with or pertaining to the investigation of the crime charged” against Allen.

Attorneys want to know if the state has any exculpatory information that could clear Allen, along with dates and times that he appeared in any police lineups and who viewed the lineups or photo arrays featuring him. Information involving searches and search warrants is also part of the request.

The broad request for information includes cell phone tracking data and any charts or exhibits the state has prepared as part of its case.

Friday’s hearing is scheduled for 10 a.m. An 11 a.m. hearing will be held on the defense’s request for funding for investigators. A separate bail hearing is scheduled for Feb. 17.

"Gull could institute a gag order barring anyone from talking about the case until it goes to trial."

Could this mean we might not be able to discuss it on here?

Also, this seems extreme that the defence want addresses of witnesses. Would this normally be granted? If I was a witness, no way would I want this bunch of paedos knowing where I lived. Also, what is the "the names and addresses of individuals who may have knowledge of the case but aren’t being called as witnesses by the state." Could that be people like us? :coffee:

This video is pretty interesting. It is comparing the Delphi murders to a similar case we had here in the UK.

The comments are interesting too. Especially this one below that I have screenshot (as it would not let me copy and paste it). Does anyone know more about this lost video from the Marathon Gas Station? It seems like someone may be fouling up this case intentionally, if you ask me.

Richard Allen is now being walked inside the Carroll County Courthouse ahead of a pair of court hearings this morning. Shouts from the crowd could be heard: “Shame on you, Richard Allen!” The proceedings will start at 10 o’clock.

At the same time, she couldn’t see a way for the trial to be held outside of Carroll County, given the convenience of the witnesses. She said the costs to move the trial to another county would be “extraordinary.”

The solution will involve bringing in jurors from an outside county. The defense and prosecution have a week to agree on a suitable county from which jurors could be bused into Carroll County and sequestered during the trial.

The gag order will remain in effect, although attorneys from both sides can talk about procedural issues and the bail hearing set for Feb. 17. They are not to discuss the facts of the case.
