PAUL & MAGGIE MURDAUGH: South Carolina vs. Alex Murdaugh for Double Homicide of wife & son *GUILTY*

This case is being kept pretty quiet, no major details released to speak of (other than it does say there were two different guns used), but no info regarding who found them, who called 911, very little else.

Of interest, the grandfather died just a few days after these murders and it sounds as if he was ill from various articles so probably not unexpected. I think of the typical motives, did grandpa have a big estate? How big in the overall family of grandpa's on down? They sound like a pretty well known family and a powerful one in their state, more on that in the article.

“This guy has left so many victims in his wake, family members whose lives he’s either destroyed and family members he may have killed, that that’s hard to overestimate the damage. This could all drag on another seven years. Alex is potentially a guy who will go down in history making the name ‘Murdaugh’ synonymous with Madoff, Manson and Ted Bundy.”

FINALLY!!!!
all over the web:

Murdaugh Murders: Charges Coming Against Alex Murdaugh

According to our sources, investigators with the S.C. State Law Enforcement Division (SLED) are scheduled to present evidence to a grand jury which implicates Murdaugh in the June 7, 2021 murders of 52-year-old Maggie Murdaugh and 22-year-old Paul Murdaugh

That evidence will be presented to grand jurors this Thursday (July 14, 2022)

Alex Murdaugh to face charges in June 2021 shooting deaths of wife and son

Finally! So far behind and been online so little, this is my first knowledge of this! Haven't read at the links yet.

I am wondering about LE advising the Murdaugh family. Is this because they are considering them the victims family OR Alex's family/the alleged perp?

10 a.m. Wednesday, July 20, Judge Clifton Newman will decide whether Murdaugh will receive a bond after being charged in the murder of his wife Maggie and son Paul in June 2021. The Attorney General’s Office confirmed that Murdaugh will appear in court in person for the hearing.

A bond? Why are they allowing people to bond out when they are potentially a danger to society? This is starting to get scary. I hope that he doesn’t get that bond.

Alex Murdaugh pleads not guilty to murder of wife & son; no bond set

Murdaugh has pled not guilty to two counts of murder in the deaths of his wife Maggie Murdaugh and son Paul Murdaugh and two counts of possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.

Murdaugh’s attorneys have filed a motion for a speedy trial. The state is pushing for January 2023. The judge did not make a decision on Wednesday on a trial date.

Murdaugh’s attorneys asked for a gag order on extrajudicial statements due to the amount of attention the case has received. The state also agreed to the gag order. This would protect evidence in the case so a future Colleton County jury would not be swayed before selection. The judge has not given a final decision on this.

My kids know I follow cases of course and the youngest along with her husband do follow some crime when they get time but don't engage online etc. They are quite busy too, their hobbies are the flea marketing and reselling plus they work full time jobs.

However recently she said you never heard of the Murdaugh case have you or is that one you follow and I said oh YEAH, I know that case. Well they just watched some series on ID of it and she was like wow with all the sh*t this man has done and things in this case. It sounds like it was up to date and pretty thorough too as they had the recent murder charges in it.

We discussed it at some length AND that such corruption could go on and so many others involved with this worthless spineless alleged killer. I gather they referred to evidence of the murder and even some recording or some such between husband and wife that it sounds like put them together just before she was dead. Security cam? They couldn't share it or LE wouldn't give them the answer... I do remember recently some PI from one of the other cases or lawsuits I think had a camera on a tree by the driveway there or something out near the road but it doesn't sound like that would be it... This though sounded like they have an audio recording of husband and wife at Moselle just prior or part of one if she has it right that is.

She also asked me if I knew in looking into and investigating the murder case, there was some piece of evidence they found or some such that had them looking at the murder of the young man again (possible murder) that was put down to his being hit on the road by a semi or vehicle or some such. I know they were taking another look but thought it due to pressure and talk and the fact of looking into Murdaugh as a whole but she thought there was something they found that trigged them to reopen it... Anyone recall if there was such a thing? Again though it sounded like it may be something they aren't sharing, I was unclear on that and she and I didn't have endless time to discuss it.

She agreed this is a huge unbelievable case(s) with many other deaths and very interesting to follow but I told her I couldn't get over that not many seem to be following it or picking it up and it hasn't turned into really a "hot" case as one would think it would. Money, power, corruption, many questionable deaths, and far more and through decades or so it seems. On YT Scott Reisch is about the only crime channel I know of who follows it and keeps it up to date. Eric Alan did several episodes just covering the family, the cases, etc.

I think local SC news covers it most but it sure hasn't hit the big leagues much and seems very quiet on that front BUT ID did pick it up. I don't think I have any way of watching ID but if anyone sees where it is recast somewhere not on mainstream TV service, I wouldn't mind seeing it.

She also mentioned that Alex lured his wife to Moselle or to see him on the pretext of his dad dying and that she should visit his dad etc. She told a friend he was acting funny and sounds like she resisted meeting with him at first... That rings a bell but I had forgotten it.

Anyhow I guess there was a recent show or a few from ID on this case.

I think it was 20/20 that had an episode lately on it that touched on the kid that was killed possibly by them.

One thing is that more charges against him is getting to the point of just wasting taxpayer money since once we get to life for any sentence and nearly all sentences run concurrently, it really does nothing in the long run - taypayer wise. I do wish for the family that they got answers though.

Yeah but it is pretty sad and I feel wrong for a family not to receive justice due to the almighty dollar and let's face it, our system that really makes it that way in large part. And it I guess would also say in some ways the murder of his important and known wife and son were important as he is now charged for that, but the others weren't. There are also lawsuits the families have every right to and which he stole from in some cases...

And in this case it isn't only the local agency involved, of course SLED is and since banking and more was involved, I would think the feds could definitely assist in some if not all of it...

She might have the show wrong but I know to me she said ID, figured she meant the network and she also talked as if it was a series (more than one part).

I thought you may have linked something but didn't go look yet and wasn't sure it was the same one. Thank you! I will check it out. Been doing a lot of dancing between this and that and off and on here etc. I appreciate it! When daughter mentioned she saw something I remembered there was going to be something but didn't recall it was ID.

A good read and MAJOR KUDOS to this judge! If there were more like him everywhere!! Transparency in court cases seems to have taken a turn backwards and light should be thrown on all. Back room deals and b.s. and knowledge of things that don't play in and more. SC's very system is on trial imo and the reporter says it right (KUDOS to the reporter as well) and WHY was the prosecution in agreement with the DEFENSE in this case to keep things quiet anyhow??? Corruption runs deep down there just from what we already know from this case and the various alleged players and connections... Imo.

Agreed. Sneaking around and playing in the darkness has been this perps way of getting away with murder. Let’s lay it out for the world to see now!
