PAUL & MAGGIE MURDAUGH: South Carolina vs. Alex Murdaugh for Double Homicide of wife & son *GUILTY*

This case is being kept pretty quiet, no major details released to speak of (other than it does say there were two different guns used), but no info regarding who found them, who called 911, very little else.

Of interest, the grandfather died just a few days after these murders and it sounds as if he was ill from various articles so probably not unexpected. I think of the typical motives, did grandpa have a big estate? How big in the overall family of grandpa's on down? They sound like a pretty well known family and a powerful one in their state, more on that in the article.

I may be confused about his being called Wednesday.

It's the article linked below that I'm unable to access if that helps. I'm trying to confirm the content of this article.

testimony outside the jury:

Alex Murdaugh’s longtime best friend, Chris Wilson, testified that the disgraced lawyer confessed his financial crimes and problems with substance abuse during a heart-to-heart conversation. Wilson and Murdaugh both appeared emotional as the defendant’s friend of over 30 years revealed shocking details about the disbarred South Carolina attorney.

The son of Alex Murdaugh’s former housekeeper, Gloria Satterfield, testified outside the presence of the jury that the disgraced lawyer stole millions of dollars in settlement money from his family. “No,” Tony Satterfield repeated over and over again as the prosecutor asked him if Murdaugh paid him any money related to his mother’s wrongful death case. A South Carolina judge would later approve a $4.3m judgment against Murdaugh's estate based on a confession made by the disbarred lawyer.

Smith has been detained at the Lexington County detention center for the past two months after his bond on multiple charges related to this saga was revoked by S.C. circuit court judge Clifton Newman,

“Cousin Eddie” has previously called Murdaugh “one of my best friends.”

“He’s like a brother to me,” he told WCIV TV-4 (ABC – Charleston, S.C.) last September.

Will the prosecution call Smith to the stand? It’s a gamble …

Clearly, testimony related to a confession from Murdaugh could be a key piece of evidence for jurors – but Smith’s credibility is likely to face withering scrutiny upon cross-examination

If he is called to testify, sources familiar with the case said Smith could be transported to Colleton County sometime “mid-to-late next week.”

According to multiple sources familiar with the contents of his envisioned testimony, Smith will tell jurors that Murdaugh confessed to him that he murdered his wife and younger son at the family’s hunting compound on June 7, 2021.

Smith’s attorney, Aimee Zmroczek, did not immediately respond to our request for comment on the report

Murdaugh’s alleged confession to Smith was reportedly made 89 days after the killings during a bizarre roadside shooting incident that took place on the Old Salkehatchie Road.

Smith’s original statement to law enforcement was that he asked Murdaugh on the roadside what happened at Moselle three months earlier.

“It all got f****d up,” Murdaugh allegedly told Smith.

In recent weeks, Smith has reportedly expanded on this statement – affirming that Murdaugh did, in fact, expressly confess to the murders of Maggie and Paul.

WATCH: The courtroom laughed when prosecutor Creighton Waters questioned Palmetto State Bank CEO Jan Malinowski about the bank’s “generous overdraft policy” in relation to Alex Murduaugh’s overdrawn account. Malinowski testified the disgraced lawyer had an account balance of negative $347,000 after June 7, 2021, the day his wife and son were killed.

attn post number 485 ^^^^^^
Thank you!!!

After watching the entire trial today all I could think about was where were the guns that were used. Just knowing Alex isn't the sharpest tool in the shed made me wonder who helped (bribed) into helping him. Yesterday's testimony went thru a LOT of transactions made out to Eddie. I didn't understand why the state was continuing on this path until it dawned on me why. Proverbial light bulb! The last of the shells that the SLED ammunitions expert talked about today was submitted to the lab on 9-12-2021 so they had to have gotten a tip or lead to go back out there.

I've never seen an overdraft THAT bad, but when I used to handle overdrafts at BofA decades ago, oftentimes large businesses would be approved because the bank wanted to be paid on THEIR loan coming due. Another reason I saw them being approved was a bank president who used to approve his golf buddy's overdrafts.....but they weren't high dollar amounts.

It also probably hinged on when the od occured (that day vs several days of that amount) AND what stories they were told. If he had always made good on things prior, they might have believed him once again, not knowing yet what his company had just found out.

I see this has been posted already but this tweet includes a side by side clip of Murdaugh's reaction in the courtroom on seeing and hearing the video found on Paul's phone.

I only just saw his reaction.

Another day of testimony and I'm still waiting for something from the State to tie up these witness statements.

Muchelle Smith - Libby Murdaugh's caregiver testified that Alex did show up to visit his Mom on 6-7-21 however she was obviously scared and cried thru her testimony about a blue tarp that wasn't tested by SLED.

Kristina Moore - SA CSI SLED then testified that she was sent (with a warrant) to Libby Murdaugh's home and collected the blue tarp & a blue rain jacket. The jacket was tested for blood and came back negative.

William McElveen - childhood friend of Paul's who offered character testimony about his friend and also of Alex's the day he went to offer support and after the funeral.

Natasha Moodie - BOA Resolution Associate from Florida confirmed that three discs presented were those of Alex's but no further questions asked by State or defense.

Jamie Hall - in 2021 she worked with SLED to analyze GSR from items sent to the lab; nothing confirmed with her testing.

*So, here's where we are as of today. If I'm this lost at following the trial I can only imagine how confused the jury must feel. There has been zero evidence either direct or implied thus far that Alex murdered Paul & Maggie.

I've been following this trial very loosely. Watching Court TV when Vinnie Politan goes over things from the day. I guess the defense opened the door for the prosecution to provide a motive. The stuff I'm hearing tonight is pretty damning.

Today's testimony was back to telling the State's version of the 'story'.

Ronnie Crosby's testimony was very intense & emotional. He is now the 3rd witness to confirm that AM's voice is on the recording Paul took the night of 6-7-2021.

Here's a link for tweets from a reporter in the courtroom. Out of the many that are there he's posting what I watched and agree with. Keep in min the link will take you to the most recent post so you'll need to scroll thru several pages for today's information.
