PAUL & MAGGIE MURDAUGH: South Carolina vs. Alex Murdaugh for Double Homicide of wife & son *GUILTY*

This case is being kept pretty quiet, no major details released to speak of (other than it does say there were two different guns used), but no info regarding who found them, who called 911, very little else.

Of interest, the grandfather died just a few days after these murders and it sounds as if he was ill from various articles so probably not unexpected. I think of the typical motives, did grandpa have a big estate? How big in the overall family of grandpa's on down? They sound like a pretty well known family and a powerful one in their state, more on that in the article.

Court is in recess until tomorrow. Jury asked to arrive at 10:30 so lawyers can 'debate' about a video of AM confessing the roadside shooting was a ploy by him to get Buster his insurance money.

My notes from today;
1. Dr. Riemer - cross
2. Devin Newell - GM
3. Roger Dale Davis - took care of dog kennels at Moselle; confirmed voices on Paul's video as Alex, Maggie & Paul
4. Carson Burney - Forensic Accountant South Carolina General Attorney's office
5. Marian Proctor - Maggie's sister (hugged Buster on her way out of the courtroom)
6. Barton Proctor - Maggie's brother in law (married 37 years); exhibit 297 Paul's video; confirms 3 voices as Paul, Maggie, & Alex

For a good summary read the tweets from a reporter in the courtroom. He's posting accurately as I am watching the trial. *Marian's testimony is emotional and she opened the door to AM's drug use & roadside shooting that caused her to doubt AM's story of what 'really' happened.

Has there been any testimony about Maggie's phone yet and where it was found ?

Yes, her phone was found.

Maggie Murdaugh's cellphone was reportedly found on a road near the family's 1,700-acre estate where she and her son Paul were found murdered earlier this month, sources told The State.

Sources told the outlet that Paul Murdaugh's phone was found near his body on the night of the June 7 murders but South Carolina Law Enforcement Division detectives on scene had trouble finding Maggie's phone right away. When a family member used their phone's location accessory the next day, they were able to locate her phone on the roadside nearby.

The phone was then handed over to SLED as evidence. It was not made clear how her phone got outside of the family's property.

Investigator Dylan Hightower with the 14th Circuit Solicitor's Office testified in the Alex Murdaugh murder trial Thursday.

He knew Alex Murdaugh and was at the Murdaugh’s Moselle property the day after the murders- June 8, 2021.

Investigator Hightower started off by saying it was not unusual for the solicitor's office to respond to a murder scene. He said when he arrived to Moselle the day after the murders, he was with Solicitor Duffie Stone and his team.

He testified that when he arrived, the crime scene had no police tape up and multiple members of Alex’s former law firm PMPED were there. They walked around the scene to get an idea of what happened.

Hightower was in charge of locating Maggie Murdaugh’s phone, which was found using the "Find My iPhone" app on her son Buster Murdaugh’s phone.

Her cell was found on the side of Moselle Road.

The strongest evidence the prosecution has, IMO, is Maggie's blood on his steering wheel. That's enough to convict in my mind. Of course the defense may offer a perfectly good reason as to how that happened.

I read that her phone could not have been taken by Alex and thrown from his car window because then it would have shown that their two phones were colocated for that time period and the evidence did not show that. So who took and threw her phone there if it was not Alex? I am wondering if that has been addressed in the trial yet? I cannot remember where I actually read that now.

I guess her blood could have got there after he discovered the bodies and checked them then drove back to the residence or sat in his car to phone the police. You would at least check for a pulse right?

The other things that I think point to his innocence are the facts of the location of Maggie's phone and that two weapons were used, a shotgun and an assault rifle. I cannot see why or how one person could easily use two separate weapons ?

He'd use two separate weapons in order to make it look like there were two shooters, If he checked the bodies that closely, why didn't he have blood on his clothes. Also, why would he ask the cops if they were dead. Since his sons brain was blown out of his head if he looked he'd be sure he was dead. His wife he'd have to touch in order to check on her. So he already knew they were dead. Then he asks the cops if they're dead.
