PAUL & MAGGIE MURDAUGH: South Carolina vs. Alex Murdaugh for Double Homicide of wife & son *GUILTY*

This case is being kept pretty quiet, no major details released to speak of (other than it does say there were two different guns used), but no info regarding who found them, who called 911, very little else.

Of interest, the grandfather died just a few days after these murders and it sounds as if he was ill from various articles so probably not unexpected. I think of the typical motives, did grandpa have a big estate? How big in the overall family of grandpa's on down? They sound like a pretty well known family and a powerful one in their state, more on that in the article.

I watched highlights of AM's testimony yesterday and I have to say, I don't believe him. I'm sure y'all are shocked. Changing his mind and saying he was at the scene and had "just" left prior to the murders said it all to me.

And just how does he know he "just" left prior to the murders when his own defense is trying to say nobody knows when they were actually murdered? :thinking:

Here's my notes from today

Jury ‘field trip’
Harpootlian requests jury to visit Moselle; State objects; Judge Newman allows request

1. Jonathan Eisenstat - doctor forensic pathology

2. Tim Palmbach - crime scene reconstruction analyst from Connecticut;
introduced two shooter theory; second shot to Paul the shooter shot him by stepping into the feed room and from behind, not the shoulder; all shots to Maggie were from the front

3. John Marvin Murdaugh

Defense rests
State confirms 4 rebuttal witnesses
Site visit to occur after State’s rebuttal

They were trying to elude that in their bringing in their own "expert" that was saying that SLED did an awful job of taking temps of the victims.
The defense knew the 'elected' coroner wouldn't be called to the stand so ...

John Marvin was a good witness for the defense, imo. It was an honest, natural reaction that I would have hoped to see with Alex. We did learn today from him though that there was a keypad on the outside door to the 'gun room' & that SLED asked him to listen only to a video before Alex was arrested to determine the voices .. Paul's video. I guess that never made it back to Alex or his attorneys?.

State has finally rested!!! Here are my notes from today.

1. Ronnie Crosby

SLED SA that Alex referred to in his testimony was David Williams not David Owens

2. Dr. Ellen Reimer

3. T.C. Smalls - former Hampton County Sheriff (retired);
never gave Alex permission to install law enforcement issued blue lights on his personal vehicle;
Alex murdaugh never contacted him about threats being made to Paul after the boat wreck

4. Paul Mcmanigal - Charleston County digital forensics

5. Mark Ball - testified that when riding the property Alex wouldn’t carry a pistol because he wasn’t proficient with one

6. Dr. Kenneth Kinsey - Orangeburg County Chief of Investigations; crime scene reconstruction; disputes Tim Palmbach testimony about two shooter theory

Jury view tomorrow morning; court resuming at 11:30. Closing arguments and jury instructions also tomorrow.

I totally figured he did not have permission to have those lights and that it was just AM saying when convenient that there had been threats. Hopefully the jury caught all that

The defense keeps trying to say how hard it would be to carry two firearms. Why would he have to carry them any where when it seems they were left ask over the place... And AM conveniently chatting that Paul n never put them up after use.

Jim Griffin fought Dr. Kinsey hard on this and said it could be as simple as those were available and/or one jammed. He confirmed, again, for the jury that the shell casing markings were from Murdaugh family weapons. This is the only witness the SCAG Alan Wilson questioned. He really did an amazing job with closing out the last witness in the case.

This is going to be an acquittal or mistrial.

The two guns bothers me, like you said there may be a logical answer. However, I'm not sure all of the people on the jury will get past that.

I'm fairly confident it will too, but live with the satisfaction that now everybody knows that he lies about absolutely everything and his life as he knew is it is most likely over. He also is nowhere near done with court appearances for a lonnnnnnnng time and is disbarred.

Hopefully he'll do some serious jail time for the financial :poop: If he didn't do it, I think he knows who did, but if I were on the jury I'd vote to convict based on the evidence we have seen so far. I think the prosecution has botched things too much for a conviction. When Murdaugh said on the stand that he reached out to the prosecutors before the trial, and they snubbed him, the prosecutor missed a golden opportunity. He should have said that as a lawyer he knows defendants don't talk to prosecutors, they talk to police. It's just another example of his feeling entitled. Even if we did agree to meet with you all we would have heard is more of your lies. Why would we waste our time?

It's the end of the Murdaugh bullying in that area, that's for sure, so that's another plus.
