PAUL & MAGGIE MURDAUGH: South Carolina vs. Alex Murdaugh for Double Homicide of wife & son *GUILTY*

This case is being kept pretty quiet, no major details released to speak of (other than it does say there were two different guns used), but no info regarding who found them, who called 911, very little else.

Of interest, the grandfather died just a few days after these murders and it sounds as if he was ill from various articles so probably not unexpected. I think of the typical motives, did grandpa have a big estate? How big in the overall family of grandpa's on down? They sound like a pretty well known family and a powerful one in their state, more on that in the article.

A juror in the double murder trial of disgraced South Carolina attorney Alex Murdaugh was removed Thursday for discussing the case with people outside the court.

<snip>
The juror denied discussing the case with anyone, however, in at least one instance the conversation was recorded and played for the judge.

"Though it does not appear that the conversations were that extensive, it did involve the juror offering her opinion regarding evidence received up to that point in the trial," Newman said.
I would not be surprised if the defense had somebody make "casual" conversation with a juror and record it. Not saying that is what happened, but sure couldn't say it didn't, either.

Ok, Jury verdict predictions. This is only for bragging rights and a trip in @Kimster spaceship. Also, if I win there can be nothing but nice comments about emus on the board from now on!

I'm going to guess March 8th at 3:30pm.

The rapid weight loss of AM screams of him most likely at least also buying meth from Cousin Eddie. He sure didn't lose that weight when claiming pill addiction for 20 years and definitely didn't spend 50k/wk (an amount I don't believe to begin with) on personal consumption of anything.

The juror spoke to three separate individuals about evidence in the case and her 'opinion' about it. SLED investigated the three persons and each wavered on exactly the statements she gave them. Harpootlian seemed nervous during this 'on the record' admonition and blamed SLED for their sloppy interviewing tactics. The juror was 'rumored' to be selected by the defense and she opined that Alex Murdaugh was not guilty. There is 1 alternate juror left and he/she was not released from service as the jury began deliberations. This person is being kept in a separate room in the courthouse in case they are needed due to illness or other emergency. IMO, this became a hot topic because the dismissed juror weighed more towards not guilty.

OT .. a little tidbit about Judge Newman who is presiding over this case .. he is the one who sentenced Nathaniel Rowland to life in prison for the death of Samantha Josephson. She was the college student who thought she was getting into her ordered Uber and disappeared.

I am now wondering, since he's a proven liar, how many of the people he had convicted had made up evidence against them. Just a thought. We know he's slimy so not a far fetched idea.
