Dad's out of town. They use a sitter even when mom isn't working. Child has been seen outside before and unwatched. Sitter called not to come, dad not home, child missing.

Well it didn't take long and I've got my first opinion on what I think.

Best case scenario is mom did "lose" him by not watching him and they will find him but it is not looking that way.

I'd wonder if mom has issues however she apparently did work....
It also "might" be a case of that she works from home at times...just an option, not saying it's the case. Toddlers would make working from home a challenge since they need what they need when they need it and that could make getting anything done on a schedule nearly impossible.

Anything is possible but just getting a "tone" from all of this now. And this three hour thing from the start was the first hint but not enough to really think anything. So she lets the babysitter know she doesn't need her about the same time she or someone sees the child then voila he is gone but three hours later...

Just saying it doesn't sound good. I'd also like to know when sitter or dad, etc. last were there or saw him.

yep. it's now the unusual calling the baby sitter, telling her she wasn't needed about the same time as the reported time as last seen. THAT is what got me

Yeah. Not saying neglectfulness couldn't have ended up with him abducted or wandering off but that sure isn't where I'm leaning.

Why do people keep trying the same thing over and over? Don't they see the other cases where they are caught in short order? Red flags I bet from the start here too.

Of course I mean allegedly and this is me speculating.

I am getting the impression a sitter was needed when mom was alone with the kids. Maybe I'm wrong. Is it confirmed that both are the bio parents?

Timeline: What has happened since 20-month-old Quinton Simon went missing?

At just 20 months old, Quinton Simon hasn’t been seen for 60 hours. In those moments, WSAV has told you a lot about the search to find him but to tell you about the environment he was living in, we have to back up weeks.

Sept. 7

Police were called to Quinton’s grandparent’s home, where Quinton, his mother, her boyfriend, two other children and the grandparents live.

There was a fight between Quinton’s mom Leilani Simon and her mother Billie Jo Howell, a police report said.

Leilani called the cops on her mom when officers showed up. She told them she was on probation and didn’t want trouble. WSAV doesn’t know what that probation is for.

The report said when police officers talked with Leilani’s brother, he told them that Quinton’s mom had a history of stealing and used the money to buy drugs.

Sept. 8

Billie Jo Howell wanted her daughter and her daughter’s boyfriend, evacuated from the house.

She filed for eviction and according to the document she didn’t want any money, just her 22-year-old daughter Leilani, her boyfriend Daniel Youngkin and the three kids to leave and quickly.

Howell wrote that they damaged her property and “no one is living in peace.”

Sept. 16

Leilani and Daniel found out about the eviction but WSAV now knows, as recently as last Wednesday the two were still living there.

That gets us to Wednesday, the morning little Quinton was last seen.

At 5:29 a.m., Diana McCarta, who babysits Quinton, got a text message. She told us it was Quinton’s mom saying McCarta didn’t have to watch the kids that morning.

Police told us the boyfriend —who we know now is Daniel Youngkin — left for work at 6 a.m. Police say that’s the last time Quinton was seen.

At 9 a.m., another text to McCarta — this time from a grandparent — asking if she had seen the toddler. The 9-1-1 call to report Quinton missing was placed 42 minutes later.

The WSAV Investigative Unit asked Chatham County Police for that call and so far they haven’t responded to our request.

WSAV knows from the family, Leilani told police that Quinton’s father took the child. The family said that story didn’t make sense and by 2:30 that afternoon, police said the father wasn’t involved.

By Wednesday night, the effort to find Quinton involved the Federal Bureau of Investigation, two helicopters, a drone, police on horses, tracking dogs and officers going door to door.

Thursday we watched federal agents search dumpers, ditches, drain pipes, and the woods.

Wow, all of this sounds really bad. I hope the other kids are in a safe place. Poor baby😢.

So it isn't dad, it is a bf. And grandma wanted bf and daughter/mom out. Bf is last to see Quinton at 6 when he left for work. However, now that we know who last saw him I am not going to be put store into the person it comes from as it is not an "independent sighting" so WHEN was this child last seen independent of mom and bf? Then there is no notice he is missing until 9.

HOWEVER, the sitter is told she does not need to babysit at 5:30ish. This is BEFORE bf leaves for work and supposedly last sees Quinton. Now even more questions/doubts I have.

We have a number of people living in a home and mom's brother is also quoted saying she steals and has drug issues.

I am going to guess or hope Quinton was seen by grandma or grandpa or someone there at least in the last 24 hours before he went missing since they all live in the same home. Or the sitter of course. So this shouldn't be one where the child has been missing a year since last seen or anything like that.

None of this sounds good and the timeline isn't good. Mom trying to claim Quinton went with his dad who apparently isn't in the home and wasn't in the area is a big RED FLAG. She didn't try to claim he went with bf when he left that morning but went elsewhere all together it sounds like bringing what sounds like a nonpresent father into the picture who appeared and has the child and does NOT. That REEKS of cover up.

My biggest general question would be where did this family live in the home? That grandma and grandpa may not have known where and how this child went missing/was last seen? Did they occupy a lower level of the home? Are there maybe two homes on the property? Were grandma and grandpa staying elsewhere waiting for the eviction of this couple? Were they at work? Did they see the child in the last day or two?

It said there are two other children in the home in this extended family group living there. It did NOT say the other two children are this mother's or her boyfriend's. They could be the brother of mom and another minor sibling of mom. They could be other grandchildren of the grandparents. Hard to say.

There is cover up here by at least mom saying dad had him. There are big questions the sitter being called off BEFORE bf even left for work, although he could be uninvolved if mom made that decision and texted her unknowing to bf...

Soooo if this is foul play/loss of temper/abuse where did they/he/she put the child? And when? And who was around?

Where is Quinton Simon? Search for missing Savannah toddler enters fifth day

It has been five days since 20-month-old Quinton Simon went missing from his Buckhalter Road home in Savannah. But there are few updates to the ongoing investigation.

Update 9:30 a.m.: Chatham County Police issued the following statement Sunday morning:

"Today we will be re-canvassing some specific areas in our search for Quinton Simon. We are not in need of volunteers, but want to keep you informed about our efforts to find the little boy. The FBI continues to provide assistance and support, as they have since day one."

Praying hard,

So he got out of his home and was last seen at six but help wasn't called until 9? Maybe they searched first or didn't know for three hours he was missing? Seems like a long time for one this young. I mean I'd be calling I think as I searched since you can run looking with a cell phone along. That's not a judgment, I mean I just wonder why--maybe the last he was seen a parent popped their head into his bedroom and he was still asleep, quite possible. Too young a child to have much of an idea about water, traffic or safety and that's scary.
3 hrs is a long time. No matter how you look at it.

it's the wording that gets me. When was he actually noticed as not being there? As in did they notice him missing just after 6 when he was last "seen" or was it closer to 9 when he was noticed missing? (I'm pretty sure by the new info that has come out that the 6am and 9am times are irrelevant to this particular case)

The sitter has talked quite a bit. The grandma allegedly blew up at the sitter recently and accused her of taking him which I myself do not believe for a moment.

The sitter asked the mom if she had called 911 and she hadn't and only when the sitter said to do so was it done I gather.

My eyes are solidly on the bf and mother.

The mom lied and tried to claim his dad had him and the bf is the one who called off the sitter at 5:30 a.m.-ish.

Sitter also allegedly talks of bruises around Quinton's neck recently and more.

I don't have much hope for this child sadly.

And I'm sure most of you have heard grandma say on news she isn't sure she can trust her daughter. Some news people also while stationed there have heard screaming arguments in the home. I can only imagine the stress the family is under and if they are all still under one roof it can't be easy...

Quinton Simon update: FBI, investigators continue searching for Georgia toddler missing 6 days

Investigators, including the FBI, are re-canvassing specific areas, looking for a 20 month old missing from his home in Savannah, Georgia for six days.

Quinton Simon's babysitter, Diana McCarta, has been heartbroken since she learned of the news after receiving a text from the Simons family that the young boy vanished. She said she has been their caregiver for the last 10 months.

"It's been horrible," McCarta said. "I keep seeing, picturing his face. I can't sleep at night because I see his face smiling at me the last time I seen him."

Thomas and Billie Jo Howell are Simon's grandparents. They say their daughter, Simon's mother Leilani, is 22.

"She hasn't always done the right thing," Billie Jo said of her daughter. "Sometimes she does really great, sometimes she doesn't. I don't know what to think right now. I don't know what to believe, because I don't think anybody ever believes this is going to happen to them. I don't know if I can trust her or I don't. I just know I'm hurting and I want this baby home. He's my baby."

They say, more than anything, they want answers.

"Whether it's the answers we want to hear or answers we don't want to hear, we just want to know something," said Thomas Howell.

"He's just a baby," Billie Jo Howell added. "And I want him home; he's just a baby.

Howell has legal custody of Simon and his 3-year-old brother, WJCL reported.

Many are asking--and it is a legitimate question if true--if grandma has legal custody, how can she evict the children. Supposedly the eviction case states she wants all out, daughter, bf and children. I can't verify either thing is true but this news article you posted is the first I was aware news has reported Howell has legal custody of the two boys so that part is apparently true if media has it right.

I give credit to any grandparent helping with or raising their grandchildren and I don't think she is involved so I don't want to diss her. One has to wonder though if these children were supposed to be with the mother alone or even with the mother and bf. It all sounds like too an unhappy stressful household/living situation. And someone had to work and yet the children needed to be watched too. Couldn't have been easy on grandma and grandpa. And a new baby was added to the household (one is under a year I think). Since this said grandma had custody of the boys, I'd have the guess that the parents had custody of the newer baby?

This child has been gone too long for his age to be safe unless with someone. But then I don't think he wandered off or was kidnapped...

Possibly the media just "assumed" that the grandmother was evicting all of them

Sadly I agree.

Police re-investigate pool in search for missing Savannah toddler, block release of 911 call

For the first time since Quinton disappeared, Chatham County Police Chief Jeff Hadley acknowledged Monday the possibility of a criminal element in the case.

Chief Hadley also said police and FBI agents have re-searched the home for any clues.

On Monday, Chatham Fire was called out to the home to begin pumping the backyard pool. It's unclear if they found any clues.

WJCL requested the initial 911 call placed by Quinton's mom. That request was denied by the county attorney, citing the ongoing investigation.

Chief Hadley said he didn't want to compromise the integrity of the case by releasing the audio.

"We want to make sure we do this as professionally and as expertly as we can, so if-- and I say if -- we have to prosecute anyone in this case, that we've done it right," he said.

In all, more than 40 FBI agents and personnel are assisting with the investigation.
