A Chaffee County woman is missing after a neighbor said she went out for a bike ride Sunday and never returned, sparking a search involving more than 100 emergency personnel.

The Chaffee County Communications Center received a report on Sunday at 5:46 p.m. regarding a missing woman in the area of County Road 225 and West Highway 50.


Anybody who has information on Morphew’s whereabouts is asked to call the Chaffee County Sheriff’s Office at 719-539-2596 or Chaffee County Crime Stoppers at 719-539-2599.

Spokespersons from the Chaffee County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) did not respond to Fox News’ multiple requests for an update on the investigation, and a family member said Tuesday they had been asked by authorities not to speak to the media.

I have so tried to maintain faith in LE in this case where many out there gave it up a long time ago, and generally I think most are great and doing their job, but this case I am about done having any faith in it, the investigation or that anything will ever happen. I am entirely unimpressed and hope they start doing or saying something and changing whatever their tactic, if any, is because it is clearly not working. This case in the blink of an eye will be a year old without ONE sign of any movement in it and little sign of any efforts either. Far past long enough for most results to be back, if ANY. Frustrated!

Well on March 3, the home sold for $1,625,000. This man has not been stopped from doing a single thing and just continues on his merry way without his wife. He now has her inheritance money that was in the home as well. There is absolutely no sign in my opinion that LE is doing anything and there has been no indication that they are for some time.

The department handling her case has been pretty quiet from the beginning. Some departments are just like that. I’m just going to continue to hope that they are working on her case daily and have a lead that they’re working on, too.

I have done that for almost a year but having trouble maintaining it any longer. This department has a whole two general detectives and even for a rural county, that is nothing. The same sheriff was around during the England case 41 years go. If they were just keeping things close to the vest on that one, it is still unsolved and still has not went anywhere nor the info provided. Believe me I have not thrown them under the bus like many did long ago but I see nothing and no reason to have much faith that they have a darned thing or are even actively doing much.

I get it though, I was like you and trying to keep that faith but it is starting to fade rapidly. When I compare it to what seems entirely different in another case or two and what appears to be some real strategy being employed, I have even less faith in this one. They were not even looking for video until long after the fact...

I am not saying they are corrupt, inept, just out of their depth or simply have nothing for a case, but I suspect it is one of those things... I don't think there is any great amount of evidence being put together behind the quiet protected investigation, at least not for any big surprise arrest coming. Jmo.

Barry Morphew, the Colorado man charged with murder, made his first court appearance on May 6, 2021.

Barry Morphew, the Colorado man charged with murder in the Mother’s Day disappearance of his wife, Suzanne Morphew, was ordered held without bail at his first court appearance Thursday — where one of his daughters mouthed the words “I love you” to him.

Morphew, wearing a white-and-orange inmate jumpsuit, said little during the 15-minute court appearance, during which he remained handcuffed, the Colorado Springs Gazette said.

The judge issued an order of protection for the 52-year-old murder suspect, which grants him the right to speak with the couple’s two daughters, who were in court.

Both were crying and one appeared to make a heart symbol while telling her dad she loved him, Denver 9News reported.

“That contact must be civil,” 11th Judicial District Judge Patrick Murphy told him, the Gazette reported. “So, you cannot threaten, harass, or annoy.”

Barry Morphew is due back in court May 27.
