A Chaffee County woman is missing after a neighbor said she went out for a bike ride Sunday and never returned, sparking a search involving more than 100 emergency personnel.

The Chaffee County Communications Center received a report on Sunday at 5:46 p.m. regarding a missing woman in the area of County Road 225 and West Highway 50.


Anybody who has information on Morphew’s whereabouts is asked to call the Chaffee County Sheriff’s Office at 719-539-2596 or Chaffee County Crime Stoppers at 719-539-2599.

Not sure how CO is but the only time I voted by absentee ballot, I had to fill out a form for the clerk ahead of time to have the ballots mailed to me. So if it is that way, he also had to request one for Suzanne before he ever filled them out.

Not a wise man, or just a stupidly cocky one.
 
Wow, I almost did not look at this as I figured it was the forged voting thing. There are MORE new charges. There seems to be a strategy here and the prosecution is sure bringing out one thing after another. Here is the start of the article, full link below it.

I have been told in the attempting to influence, 2 are CBI and some others are LE. I can't confirm but I will look for a link when I get a chance.

You know, it goes to show the public and commenters in this case are not dumb. We had little information nor facts but these types of things were highly suspected.

And most had Barry and what type he is figured out pretty well.

Me too. Even so, this is more info than we had. We now have some dates, etc. and more. I get a bit irate with Colorado in holding back their documents starting with the arrest warrants :)

I find the date spans in the various charges pretty interesting. They have her murder and disposal at the 9th to the 10th and I have always felt it was likely Saturday. I also was open to Friday and perhaps even before but we know now that her sister had a text from her Friday, and it does not sound like things were good, I feel that contact is going to be significant in the trial. Imo.

Accused killer Barry Morphew expected back in court, faces two new charges​

Barry Morphew, the man accused of killing his wife Suzanne Morphew, is back in court Thursday for the second time since his arrest on May 5th.

According to documents posted to the Colorado Courts website, Morphew now faces two additional charges; tampering with a human body and possession of a dangerous weapon.

These are all the charges Morphew now currently faces:
  • Murder in the first degree
  • Tampering with a deceased human body
  • Tampering with physical evidence
  • Possession of a dangerous weapon
  • Attempt to influence a public servant
A legal analyst told our partners at 9News that the new charge of tampering with a human body, which documents say Morphew did between May 9th and 10th of 2020, could just be a suspicion by investigators. It could also mean they found a location where the body may have been at some point, and has been either hidden somewhere else or destroyed.

If Morphew is found guilty of tampering with a human body, he could face up to 32 years in prison for that charge alone.

The possession of a dangerous weapon charge means Morphew had to have a firearm silencer, machine gun, short shotgun, short rifle, or ballistic knife.

Morphew was also charged with forgery of a public record and election ballot defense for allegedly using his wife’s ballot to cast a vote for President Donald Trump in the 2020 election.

The arrest affidavit for the murder charge that Morphew faces is still sealed, and opposing parties have until May 27th to submit documents in response.

His virtual hearing starts at 4 p.m. Thursday in Chaffee County.

Media has been denied access to record the hearing, but we will be able to watch.
 
Plunder is saying the sealed arrest warrant is 129 pages long and will be unlike anything we have ever seen. She claims to have a source that did not see the affidavit but they saw a four page motion regarding the affidavit.

District Court Judge Patrick Murphy ruled Friday (June 4) that the arrest affidavit for Barry Morphew, the Colorado man accused of murdering his wife, Suzanne Morphew, will remain sealed until September.

According to FOX21, Murphy filed the order, which will expire on August 31, to "protect the victims and witnesses in the case."

The arrest warrant affidavit for Barry Morphew, the husband accused of killing his wife, Suzanne Morphew, will remain sealed through the summer months, according to an order filed Friday by the judge.

The order filed Friday states the sealing of the affidavit is to protect the victims and witnesses in this case. The court also wants to prevent harassment, abuses or intimidation of the victims, and their right to be treated with fairness, respect and diginity.

The order will expire 7 days after the conclusion of the Proof Evidence Presumption Great Hearing and Preliminary Hearing, which is scheduled to be completed on August 24, 2021. The court has concerns with the amount of information in the 130-page affidavit.


 
I lack the words to even say what I think of this decision and why. Suffice it to say I disagree with it and not because I want to see it which I do/most do. Imo the secrecy is doing just the opposite of what they want, it is resulting in people speculating that there are things so bad or heinous in there, they don't want them shared.

Colorado is one of the worst states I have seen for lack of transparency in its legal system/process. They are far from "open" like, thankfully, many other states are. I don't know why it surprises me any longer, hardly the first time we have seen it.

Wow, I have never heard that. In fact, her own brother, etc. I think say how happy they were that she had them because she was led to believe after her first bout of cancer when young that she likely would never have children. The other thing that is notable to me is with certain pictures, I sometimes have to look at dates or look close to be sure whether it is Mallory or a younger picture of Suzanne, I see such a likeness in those two appearance-wise. I don't see any in the other daughter to Suzanne but I sure do with Mallory.
