DailyMail.com has learned it was her daughters Mallory and Macy who first raised the alarm after they were unable to get hold of her on Mother’s Day as they made their way back from a camping trip in Idaho.

Friends said they asked neighbor Jeanne Ritter, 70, to check on Suzanne when they couldn’t get hold of her and it was Ritter who later called the police to report her missing.

Ritter declined to comment when approached by DailyMail.com.

Summer Stehle, 43, the stepmother of 17-year-old Macy’s best friend, said: ‘The neighbors up there are spread pretty far apart but the only reason they found out [she was missing] is because the girls called the neighbors and said, ''we never heard from Mom – can you go check on her?''

‘Nobody actually saw her on her bicycle, sadly.’

Suzanne’s husband Barry Morphew, 52, has said he was away on a training course for his job as a volunteer firefighter in Denver, Colorado, when she vanished.

On Sunday, he made an impassioned plea for his wife’s safe return in a video released via social media. He has also offered a $200,000 reward.

But DailyMail.com can now reveal that Morphew, 52, has not been allowed to enter the home he shared with Suzanne since he returned from his trip to Denver.

Police also have his car and his cell phone – leaving the businessman and volunteer firefighter to communicate through his close friend George Davis, 33.

Davis declined to comment when approached by DailyMail.com, saying he is too busy ‘with stuff’ to talk.

Morphew’s fire department colleagues have been ordered not to take part in the search by police, although locals said Morphew and his friends have been out looking for Suzanne.

Wow. I had heard some of this in comments elsewhere but not all of it. I had no idea though where people were getting it from. I can't say I am surprised sadly, I thought the dots were leaning this way just in the lack of information and some other things. I guess we shall see as there is no conclusions reached yet.

I wondered about the neighbor too but if she is an older female, that takes care of that in my opinion and clearly she was called and asked to check on her.

Jmo.

Aw, CRAP! I was really hoping this wasn't going to take this kind of a turn. So, when they found the bike, I wonder even more if it was located at the house.
:(

People are saying it was like at the end of the driveway where it meets the road and near a creek that crosses the property. Also, the nephew allegedly found it. Supposedly too you can leave their property right onto a trail, etc.--Linda showed this in the above video I posted today.

I have tried not to decide on this case either and hoped for a different outcome but I do have to say the reward bothered me for a few reasons as did the why they would not confirm the husband's cooperation.

On top of all of that, I have read that the MSM has much wrong and that there is far more info in the local papers in Chaffee County and that it is more accurate... One in Salida was mentioned but I gather there are a few.

Interesting... The Chaffee County times has literally zero articles about Suzanne. http://www.chaffeecountytimes.com/

The Mountain Mail seems to be local. Looks like out of Salida. Maybe that's the one people are talkinga bout? They have a few articles but you have to have an account to read. Looks like it's free but I'm not going to sign up to read. http://www.themountainmail.com/

I just looked at a couple also and found very little. I looked at the County one and another one in Salida. I wonder what people meant too. If it is anything like my areas, they also may be weekly papers which I can't imagine would be better as the news would not be as frequent.

Okay, I don't want to post too much rumor here but the same commenter who seems to know all of this stuff is saying the security cameras were conveniently not working at the home, that the "friend" who put up the other $100,000 is a female (I have wondered about that since the beginning) and that he has not been allowed into the home since he came back from Denver and he is staying at that female's vacation home. I want to stress I can't confirm this as fact--but she is local or claims to be and has quite a bit of info. She comments on the case on It's a Crime podcasts...

150 tips received about missing Chaffee County woman

State, local, and federal agencies are still searching for a mother who disappeared on Mother’s Day near Salida, Colorado.

Investigators reviewed and followed-up on tips reported to the Chaffee County Sheriff’s Office on Monday, May 18. There have been more than 150 calls to the tip line since the phone line was activated last week. However, there were no targeted searches conducted on Monday.

Also, the Chaffee County Sheriff’s Office is asking residents to preserve any and all video footage from devices such as Ring doorbells, security cameras, game cameras, etc., from May 8th through May 12th. That is two days before and two days after Morphew was reported missing.

Citizens are only being asked to preserve the video at this time. The Sheriff’s Office is asking people to not send these videos to the sheriff’s office or call the sheriff’s office. As search areas are identified, investigators will contact residents in those locations to collect any camera footage within that May 8-12 window.
The part about saving videos from May 8th has bothered me since I first read about it here. Now it's becoming more clear and I don't like it one little bit.

Sheriff John Spezze: The house is being held by law enforcement during the open investigation through a search warrant that has been sealed by the court. It's not unusual in these types of investigations to start at the home and extend outward to look for clues. #SuzanneMorphew

Per the Chaffee County Sheriff's Office, more than 200 tips have been reported to the designated tip line regarding #SuzanneMorphew's disappearance on Mother's Day. The Morphew home is one of the many areas of focus during the investigation, the sheriff said.

Keep in mind #suzannemorphew case remains categorized as a #MissingPerson but the Chaffee County Sheriff says all possibilities surrounding her disappearance are being considered. @FOX21News
