ONGOING CRIME BREAKING NEWS!

Starting in January 2020, this thread is about the news as it breaks!

Bernard Madoff says he is dying and is asking a judge for compassionate release from prison, where he is serving 150 years for orchestrating the largest Ponzi scheme in history, according to a Wednesday federal court filing.

Madoff, 81, has terminal kidney failure and a life expectancy of less than 18 months. When the court sentenced him, “it was clear that Madoff’s 150-year prison sentence was symbolic for three reasons: retribution, deterrence, and for the victims,” the court filing states. “This Court must now consider whether keeping Madoff incarcerated … is truly in furtherance of statutory sentencing goals and our society’s value and understanding of compassion.”

Madoff said in the request for compassionate release that he “does not dispute the severity of his crimes.”

IMO- stay in jail

Just read the sentence "Twin Cities is currently off it's rocker". No need to read the rest of the article.
I know you live there and I know you know I mean no offense but that's nuts. I mean no offense to say why anyone would even want to move there I don't understand at all, although it is perhaps people that already live in the Cities. I want to say right now, there is something really wrong with this housing thing going on. I guess we may find out in years to come whether that is the case or not. So they put it on Covid that no one wants to move or sell but on the other hand so many do want to? To buy? And somehow people are financing to great lengths beyond what they wanted to? Something is going on, I'm sorry and I don't think it is just stimulus payments. Working from home? I don't believe that either.

You are right though, the Twin Cities is off its rocker in more ways than one.

the problem right now is more people are wanting to buy than people wanting to sell. It is possibly only going to get worse if the builders are priced out by escalating material prices.

We have talked some about it and I get it but I do think buying at the prices that are going on is more nuts than we were debating ARM loans to be back in the day some years ago. I think I'd wait it out if I was a buyer. Now on the other hand a seller, free and clear and not needing to buy another, that's a different story. It is interesting that in the last housing crisis all who probably lost their place or had a bail out or someone else now has it whether banks or commercial flippers, etc. can now turn them at a pretty great profit. Having a cynical day. That's my excuse. Every single comment comes from my own thoughts. So do I try to keep the property/ies or no? Tough one...

if you have one to see without needing to find another one immediately, now is definitely a good time to sell.

Yeah that's interesting since one some agree is under water value wise versus tax value and the other may be undervalued. Different areas as well. Not sure it is the same way in the area of both as what you all are seeing in other areas... I need to look further into it I guess.

Unbelievable. 5 scumbags that can kill 2 adults, A 14 yr old in front of 2 small children.
