Bernard Madoff says he is dying and is asking a judge for compassionate release from prison, where he is serving 150 years for orchestrating the largest Ponzi scheme in history, according to a Wednesday federal court filing.

Madoff, 81, has terminal kidney failure and a life expectancy of less than 18 months. When the court sentenced him, “it was clear that Madoff’s 150-year prison sentence was symbolic for three reasons: retribution, deterrence, and for the victims,” the court filing states. “This Court must now consider whether keeping Madoff incarcerated … is truly in furtherance of statutory sentencing goals and our society’s value and understanding of compassion.”

Madoff said in the request for compassionate release that he “does not dispute the severity of his crimes.”

I forgot about this thread. I am seeing a report of some place in Missouri found where they say there may be up to 13 sets of remains and where allegedly a Cassie Rainwater was kept in a cage. Supposedly the feds are doing DNA and there are tons of dark rumors not addressed. The property/perp appears to have been owned by a James Phelps. Is this news or a case that is on here? Sounds like it is something big... It may account for other people missing...

No kidding right?! And he was just per the FL sheriff in trouble over prior things in May and they let him out??

It's a horrible case and I would imagine if it picks up attention that his being let out may be looked at... I wonder what his bond was? Maybe it was high and the half brother who owned this company paid it... The sheriff though seems to hint that he should not have been out... Actually this sheriff more or less comes right out and says it.

I see why he is a well liked sheriff in that area. I have heard of him more than once...
