ONGOING CRIME BREAKING NEWS!

Starting in January 2020, this thread is about the news as it breaks!

Bernard Madoff says he is dying and is asking a judge for compassionate release from prison, where he is serving 150 years for orchestrating the largest Ponzi scheme in history, according to a Wednesday federal court filing.

Madoff, 81, has terminal kidney failure and a life expectancy of less than 18 months. When the court sentenced him, “it was clear that Madoff’s 150-year prison sentence was symbolic for three reasons: retribution, deterrence, and for the victims,” the court filing states. “This Court must now consider whether keeping Madoff incarcerated … is truly in furtherance of statutory sentencing goals and our society’s value and understanding of compassion.”

Madoff said in the request for compassionate release that he “does not dispute the severity of his crimes.”

IMO- stay in jail

DETROIT – After a 20-year-old Southfield woman was declared dead on Sunday, a funeral home discovered she was still breathing -- and very much alive. <snip>
There's more to this- I'll find an update and post.

The Southfield fire chief said the incident still remains under investigation by the city. Johnny Menifee said he shares the family’s “anguish,” but he has also insisted that his paramedics followed proper procedures and found “no signs of life.” <snip>

  • Storms stopped resuscitation efforts six minutes before getting permission from a doctor who was contacted by phone. “At no point did (Storms) attempt to verify circulation or respiration” with a device such as a stethoscope. “The vital signs and description depicted to the physician were inaccurate.”
  • Minutes later, Storms went back into the home when family members said Beauchamp appeared to be breathing and had a pulse. He placed her on a monitor, which “clearly showed” electrical activity and revealed she “was not deceased.” Apparently no action was taken.
  • Storms went inside again when relatives noticed signs of life. “Both times (Storms) failed to recognize the patient was still alive” and indicated that chest movement was normal due to her medication. <snip>
“This appears be one of the worst cases of gross negligence that I’ve ever encountered,” Fieger said Thursday. “She wasn’t dying or near death. Had they got her to the hospital none of this would have happened.” <snip>
More articles at link.Granted, I'm not a fan of Fieger, but this whole situation is outrageous...IMO.

Wow. If you read towards the end of this, it sounds like they may find him responsible for another murder or two as well. His behavior and crimes for his recent arrest are something else as well. He sounds like a sick one and a good one to have off of the streets... I don't know if these unsolved murders mentioned in this are ones on anyone here is familiar with or not...

She is such a doorknob. Not guilty? There is so much circumstantial evidence here it may overtake direct evidence cases imo. Murder charges may be more difficult but I don't see much trouble in this one although they may have to bring in the entire kit and kaboodle of their murders around them, the light and dark, all of her moves, and more.

Yet then again, maybe it will only take that she SAID she knew where her kids were, that they were fine and more. Her own son will likely be testifying against her with her refusal to share where the kids were/are.

What is she even doing here, I thought she was supposed to be the goddess queen of all like back in July... Pooorrr dumbo bimbo Lori. Queen of evil and nothing more except in her own head. Her real holiday is coming up--Halloween... There is nothing saintly, special nor light in this woman other than what bleach can provide.

Sorry--rant over.

Armed standoff outside ballpark delays Kansas City Royals game, suspect now in custody

An armed standoff outside Kauffman Stadium on Saturday delayed the Kansas City Royals game against the Pittsburgh Pirates.
The standoff began around 1 p.m. local time, ABC affiliate KMBC reported. An unidentified man shot at several employees, but no one was hit or injured. The man also shot at the Kansas City Chiefs' Arrowhead Stadium, which sits near the Royals' ballpark in the large complex.

Police announced at about 6:20 p.m. local time that the suspect was in custody.
The Royals and Pirates were able to play Saturday night. The Royals announced in a tweet that the game had been postponed from 6:05 p.m. local time to 6:35 p.m. First pitch took place at 6:37.
Royals manager Mike Matheny said that players and coaches had to use an alternate gate to enter the stadium safely, according to the Kansas City Star. Both the Royals and Pirates canceled pregame batting practice. The Pirates arrived around 5 p.m. local time.

For just a little perspective, Arrowhead and Royals Stadium share the same parking lot. While ther incident was mostly confined to the Arrowhead side, it affects many in getting in and out of both stadiums.

Well that's one hec* of an excuse but something tells me there is more to the story... The gun never goes off so you run around shooting at friends so you say as part of a game you always play? Huh? What is this vacationing party stuff anyhow with Covid...? Then the headline makes it sound like she was shot on the beach but cops were called to a condo, so I suppose in trying to read between sensational headlines the condo was on the beach? Not a hint of whether they knew each other or anything else... But he does claim he only ever shot at friends in a game and it never fired... He is unsure why it did this time... Well then cops called to the condo at 3 a.m... People up 'til the very early morning hours apparently.

Tragic for this young girl and her family. I will wait and don't doubt there is more to the story though. Yep I am cynical. Was he a welcome visitor? Were parents there? Did this young girl rent the condo on her own or own it? Or there with family? And then again, what is he doing there? Was he a friend and welcome? Or was she actually shot on the beach but cops were called to the condo? Hard to say...
