ONGOING CRIME BREAKING NEWS!

Starting in January 2020, this thread is about the news as it breaks!

Bernard Madoff says he is dying and is asking a judge for compassionate release from prison, where he is serving 150 years for orchestrating the largest Ponzi scheme in history, according to a Wednesday federal court filing.

Madoff, 81, has terminal kidney failure and a life expectancy of less than 18 months. When the court sentenced him, “it was clear that Madoff’s 150-year prison sentence was symbolic for three reasons: retribution, deterrence, and for the victims,” the court filing states. “This Court must now consider whether keeping Madoff incarcerated … is truly in furtherance of statutory sentencing goals and our society’s value and understanding of compassion.”

Madoff said in the request for compassionate release that he “does not dispute the severity of his crimes.”

IMO- stay in jail

This should give a glimpse of how #$&##$* this story is (far more than this in the article).

"Walker allegedly told police he had planned to drive Keymolen to a hospital, but pulled into a parking lot to try to revive her. He allegedly said that, in an attempt to wake her up, he slapped her in the face, bit her cheek, and punched her."

So tragic. And scary. So he admits to intending to kill the guy but says killing the wife was an accident. Now that's a dumb criminal statement. If true, why would that be? They do things right as far as initially meeting in public but then follow him... I suppose they felt safe after meeting him and there were two of them together...

This remark stands out to me. I think it is right there along with "If I can't have you, no one shall"... Some just have a need to destroy others. Smh.

“He’d rather take her happiness than see her succeed in life,” Rosali’s father's Joseph Acquefreda said at a press conference.

it's in the middle of NYC! What do you expect?
I don't know lol. I guess that's exactly what I mean. I expect one at a park to be a bit more urban...? Times have changed I guess... I think I am living like back in the day...

And I get that probably is what is considered urban these days...
