Bernard Madoff says he is dying and is asking a judge for compassionate release from prison, where he is serving 150 years for orchestrating the largest Ponzi scheme in history, according to a Wednesday federal court filing.

Madoff, 81, has terminal kidney failure and a life expectancy of less than 18 months. When the court sentenced him, “it was clear that Madoff’s 150-year prison sentence was symbolic for three reasons: retribution, deterrence, and for the victims,” the court filing states. “This Court must now consider whether keeping Madoff incarcerated … is truly in furtherance of statutory sentencing goals and our society’s value and understanding of compassion.”

Madoff said in the request for compassionate release that he “does not dispute the severity of his crimes.”

I'm not trying to argue but I'm not so sure... Both are inside the truck cab these days... With weeks at my mom's last winter, I watched them pick up many times... And if something was heavier than normal but already dumped in the back of the truck, I doubt they would go look but it would come out for sorting, etc. at the plant no?

The other option is most likely someone who works at the recycling plant in each case and it would be pretty stupid to take a body to where you work if you are the killer...

Neither thing seems likely but stranger things have happened I guess and/or there are some real idiots out there...

3 dead now related to this case. It's so gut wrenching. The perps didn't and don't care how much damage they did.

I notice it all of the time these past few years. I'm no grammar or spelling nazi and make my own errors when like just chatting on here but when I see it in national or bigger publications or even local newspapers, etc. I truly wonder about our educational system and/or who they are hiring. Part of that job is to edit and proofread or it used to be, or they had someone to do it...

It probably is partly to do with news is so instant these days that the first one to hit the wires has it first and internet Youtubers too beat the news on occasion so MSM too probably slaps something together and hits send as quickly as possible and who cares about verifying it any longer or proofreading? Sigh...
 
Fort Hood. 14 leaders being fired or suspended as a result of the investigation. I will also put this under the Guillen thread. Hard to say if they got it all but Vanessa's family can be proud for not giving up until they brought attention to this. Imo.

 
So as is so often the case, his decision takes their mother, now they have no father and these kids have been moved from North Carolina to Maryland. I am sure it is likely to be with family which is great they have that, but one man's decision changed their entire world forever after.

Just for the record, I am ignoring headlines regarding the PR of Lori Loughlin and her daughters and husband and father Mossimo Guinnulli which are almost daily. Just me but I don't think they deserve it when people are dying, etc. and they are trying to fix an "image". When they were acting innocent and full of it I would share it big time but not now that it is meant to be spin and image fixing... However, if ya want to find these headlines they are out there...
