Bernard Madoff says he is dying and is asking a judge for compassionate release from prison, where he is serving 150 years for orchestrating the largest Ponzi scheme in history, according to a Wednesday federal court filing.

Madoff, 81, has terminal kidney failure and a life expectancy of less than 18 months. When the court sentenced him, “it was clear that Madoff’s 150-year prison sentence was symbolic for three reasons: retribution, deterrence, and for the victims,” the court filing states. “This Court must now consider whether keeping Madoff incarcerated … is truly in furtherance of statutory sentencing goals and our society’s value and understanding of compassion.”

Madoff said in the request for compassionate release that he “does not dispute the severity of his crimes.”

David Misch, 59, is charged with murder and two special circumstances, including murder during the course of a kidnapping and having been convicted of a previous murder, Alameda County District Attorney Nancy O’Malley announced at a press conference on Monday.

Misch is currently facing other charges in Alameda County for the 1986 murders of two women in Fremont, and is currently serving time in state prison for the 1989 murder of another woman in the Hayward area.

Misch is scheduled to be arraigned on Tuesday, December 22.

OH WOW! Wonderful! I was only 16 when she was kidnapped. Her mother has waited long enough. 34 yrs.

As a female and a MOM/GMA, I don't think anything could make me sit there and watch this done to my child, I would take the chance of being shot or whatever his reasoning is and he is THEIR FATHER and the HUSBAND. Trying to exorcise a demon isn't devil worship. It's the opposite. I don't know what made them think they were qualified to do so. They are obviously delusional. But knew what they were doing. Really sick. And Kourtney. You're a real cutie. You're 21?. Really?.

Despite Lucas confessing to 600 murders he was only tied to 3. And has been discredited in at least 28.

Very true. If he had it, they didn't say much about whether he served overseas at all or in combat I mean. I may have missed it but I don't think so. Still horrible for the victims and their families no matter whether PTSD or not.
