'Bring Vanessa Home' | Family, friends rally to bring awareness to missing Fort Hood soldier

More than a dozen people rallied in Killeen Friday morning in an effort to bring continued awareness to the disappearance of Fort Hood soldier PFC Vanessa Guillen.

Family and friends held signs with Guillen's picture and words of encouragement at Lyons Park.

"We feel very desperate and we are about three hours away and that's no help to us," Freida Hernandez, a friend of Guillen's, said. "This concern we have it's really hard for us to just stay there and we felt the need to come here and let people know we are concerned about our friend and we need to find her."

Did the two missing soldiers know each other?

Did the two missing soldiers know each other?

Good question. They marked him AWOL/Deserter, but...

"He was days away from being processed out of the Army when he vanished."

Why do you need to go AWOL when you're days away from being out. I mean yes, it's a possibility. And he could have left for entirely different reasons. But still odd IMO.

In some articles about this case, underneath people have a lot to say about Fort Hood. I won't share it as it isn't confirmed but even when this case first became known to me, Fort Hood instantly rang bells with other things, cases, talk, etc.

The fact this man disappeared right before he would have been processed out just logically is odd.

Not saying anything is wrong, but there is enough rumor out there about this base to wonder. Most are seriously asking about the lack of cameras as well.

Jmo.

Self harm maybe? I always get nervous when ID, wallet, etc. are left behind.

Very quiet case. :(

More than 3 weeks later, missing Fort Hood soldier’s family awaits answers

It’s been more than three weeks of agony for the family of U.S. Army Pfc. Vanessa Guillen, a soldier last seen at Fort Hood near Killeen.

Mayra Guillen, the soldier’s older sister who lives in Houston, said she and her family have yet to receive any information regarding the disappearance.

Mayra Guillen said because investigators have yet to provide any theories regarding her younger sister’s disappearance, she has tried to work out a few of her own.

She said she believes it is highly unlikely that Vanessa disappeared on her own. Her sister showed no signs of suicidal behaviors or conflicts between family or her friends, Mayra Guillen told the American-Statesman.

She said her sister was very loyal to the chain of command in the U.S. Army, so if someone did take her it could have been a supervisor.

“It would have been obvious if she was forced into a vehicle,” Mayra Guillen said, noting her sister was last seen in the middle of a workday. “It had to have been someone she couldn’t say no to. I’m asking to investigate her chain of command.”

U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Command officials last week declined to comment on the investigation, saying they had no new information to release.

Mayra Guillen said because it appears officials are only searching on base, investigators must believe she never left.

Vanessa Guillen’s sister said investigators have deemed false previous reports that the soldier’s phone was last tracked at a tower in Belton.

Hmmm. I too would think the place would be looked at from the outside in, by no one involved at the base, in a full investigation as one of many parts of a serious investigation. It is far from the first questionable thing/case there. And maybe it was some stranger abduction, bf, etc. BUT the chain of command, etc, and the base also deserves a serious independent look. Imo.

This case is too quiet, just saw it mentioned on a podcast and the family has been given absolutely no info, etc. The podcast also mentioned again how many people missing from Fort Hood...

Search continues for Vanessa Guillen, missing since April 22nd

Family and volunteers hold search party for missing Fort Hood soldier

Family, friends and a handful of volunteers held another search party to find missing Fort Hood soldier Vanessa Guillen on Saturday morning.

They searched Miller Spring Park in Belton and Ogletree Gap Preserve in Copperas Cove, looking for clues leading to her whereabouts.

Her sister, Mayra, says that faith and support from the community has kept the family strong and hopeful to find Vanessa.

“There’s no way we can deal with this without them right now,” she said.

“She’s still with all of us and it’s only a matter of time until somebody actually confesses something or we find a way to find her ourselves. I know it’s a process with the authorities but it’s been a month already. We need to keep pushing.”

No further updates on the investigation into her disappearance have been released.

From the https://findvanessaguillen.com page;

Three weeks before I disappeared, my mom asked me why I seemed different. My mom knows me better than anyone else. She noticed I had become withdrawn and that I wasn’t able to sleep like I used to.

I finally told my mom that I was being sexually harassed by one of my sergeants on Fort Hood. My mom tried tried to convince me to give her the name of the person who was harassing me, but I didn’t want to get in trouble. My mom told me that she would report it for me, but I told her that I knew of other female soldiers that had reported sexual harassment and that the US Army didn’t believe them. I told my mom how the same sergeant that sexually harassed me would follow me whenever I would run and exercise and how uncomfortable it made me feel. My mom told me she would put a stop to it, but I told her I would take care of it myself. I felt I could put a stop to it myself. All I had to do was do something, say something. I was ready to take care of it.

Family of missing Fort Hood soldier Vanessa Guillen asking for federal investigation

On day 50 of the fight to find Pfc. Vanessa Guillen, Mayra Guillen shared a message for her sister who she “strongly” believes is alive.

“Just hold on, you’re gonna be back home to continue with your plans,” she said at a press conference Wednesday in Houston.

Vanessa Guillen’s longtime friend Frida Hernandez says the 20-year-old soldier had plans to go to college to study kinesiology after the Army. Everything was put on hold when the Houston woman disappeared from Fort Hood on April 22.

The Guillen family is asking anyone with information to reach out. “I feel that someone has to have seen something on a base where 40,000 plus soldiers reside,” Mayra Guillen said.

The family is also asking for a change of investigators. As of Wednesday, the Army’s Criminal Investigation Command, known as CID, was leading the investigation. Mayra Guillen says she wishes the FBI would take the lead. Hernandez started a petition calling on the federal government to take action.

“It happened inside of a federal building, military base and we still don’t get answers as to who, what, where exactly, and why,” Mayra Guillen said.

“I don't want this to keep happening. If it already happened to one soldier, my sister was the next one, whose gonna be the third one?" said Mayra Guillen.

It's been more than 50 days since Fort Hood soldier Vanessa Guillen was reported missing, and some celebrities have raised awareness on their social media platforms.

Mexican-American film actress Salma Hayek posted to her Instagram, with 15 million followers, the following picture in an effort to bring attention of her disappearance.

A show of support is planned for Fort Hood soldier Vanessa Guillen, who has been missing for more than seven weeks. The League of United Latin American Citizens is hosting a peaceful demonstration from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Ford Hood Street and Rancier Road in Killleen.

A mass will also be held for Vanessa Guillen on Saturday, June 13 at 7 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Killeen.

I am glad to see this. I don't know what it will take but I hope they are pushing this on social media and while some podcasters have covered it, it is hard for them to have much to say when there is no news. Hopefully they can find one or two with a lot of views to push this and ask why there are no apparent searches, etc.? Get it publicly loud so to speak.
