Waukesha, WI Christmas Parade attack

Multiple victims have been transported from the scene to area hospitals via ambulance and others were taken by officers, after a red SUV drove through the Waukesha Christmas Parade, Waukesha Police Chief Daniel P. Thompson said in a press conference.

The Waukesha Police Department has sent a push alert to cellular phones in the area asking those "within a ½ mile radius of the 5 points downtown" to immediately shelter in place.

People were seen on the ground injured after the incident, Milwaukee Journal Sentinel intern Kaylee Staral, who was at the parade, told CNN's Pamela Brown Sunday night.

About "20 to 30 minutes into the parade a red SUV came running down the middle of the street -- there were a lot of screams -- and we almost thought maybe it was Santa but it was a red SUV and it hit a lot of people," Staral said.

So this article says he has run someone over deliberately before. And this parade massacre happened after he was involved in a domestic disturbance.

From the article -

"In early November, a woman told police Brooks had pulled up beside her following an earlier domestic dispute and instructed her to get into his car, the documents said. When she refused, Brooks hit her in the face with a closed fist, according to the criminal complaint.

As she walked away through a gas station parking lot, Brooks “intentionally” ran her over with his car, the complaint said.

Brooks, 39, is set to make his first court appearance on Tuesday in connection to Sunday's incident. He is charged with five counts of first-degree intentional homicide, police said."

So why was he not still in jail for the incident earlier in November?

Now 5 people are dead and 6 more are in a critical condition.

Trying to run someone over after punching them in the face should be in jail until trial, no bail. Especially with his record.

That and his having just been involved in a domestic dispute may be why it's not considered terrorism. Sounds more like a psychopath just being a :poop: head.

Brooks was arrested and charged Nov. 5 in the case.

The $1,000 bail recommended by prosecutors, and accepted by the court commissioner, was "inappropriately low" given the nature of the charges, according to a statement Monday from the Milwaukee County District Attorney's Office, led by District Attorney John Chisholm. The assistant district attorney who appeared at the hearing where bail was set was Carole Manchester. Manchester did not respond to a call or email from a Journal Sentinel reporter Monday seeking comment.

The bail also was not consistent with the office's approach to cases "involving violent crime, nor was it consistent with the risk assessment of the defendant prior to setting of bail," the statement read.

"This office is currently conducting an internal review of the decision to make the recent bail recommendation in this matter in order to determine the appropriate next steps."

Wisconsin requires payment for the full amount of bail set in any criminal case.

Brooks posted the $1,000 bail on Nov. 11 and was released from Milwaukee County Jail on Nov. 16 and into the custody of Waukesha County Sheriff's Department, where he had a hold in a paternity case, according to the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office.

Brooks was booked in Waukesha County, appeared before a court commissioner and then was released from custody that same day, the Waukesha County Sheriff's Department confirmed Monday.

They never f'in learn!!! They failed AGAIN to protect the public from a violent offender that shouldn't have been released at all on previous charges.

The ones who let them out are NEVER held accountable.

It's too bad none of the shots fired didn't hit him. Permanently maim him would have been perfect. I can't believe the charge earlier in the month they just...Oh well... Punched her and hit HER with his car. Idiots could have prevented this. A $1,000 bail for THAT?!

She actually had tyre tracks on the leg of her pants, according to the report. But hey! - only a domestic after all. I bet the "domestic disturbance" before the parade massacre was the same person - hope she sells her story to the papers.

Yeah. Disturbance?. More like assault with intent to cause serious injury with a deadly weapon. I'm not sure if legally a vehicle is considered a deadly weapon.Or possibly attempted vehicular homicide.

This is why those who cry for release of people waiting for their trials doesn’t make sense to me at all! It depends on what they’ve been arrested for! If it is something where you’re harming other individuals and could be a threat or a menace to society, you should stay locked up until your trial. End of story!

Now if someone has been arrested for a minor crime, of course they should be able to be released until the trial.

Latest figures are 5 killed 48 injured with 6 children critical.

The community is rallying round each other by the look of it though.

I just heard on the news that one of the children has died. :sigh:

They showed a picture of the guy who did this and he's definitely a psychopath. He's got that psychopathic look.
