Authorities in Oklahoma searching for missing 4-year-old girl
Authorities in Oklahoma are searching for a missing 4-year-old girl.

Officials said 4-year-old Athena Brownfield was last seen at a home in Caddo County.

The investigation began Tuesday at 2 p.m. when a postal carrier reported finding Athena's five-year-old sister near their home. The postal carrier reported the incident to the Cyril Police Department and authorities learned Athena was missing.

The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI) has been called in by Cyril police to help with the search. The OSBI said a command post has been set up at Family Life Church in Cyril. Anyone wanting to volunteer is asked to check in at the command post and get instructions from the OSBI.

Caddo County Sheriff's Office and the Oklahoma Highway Patrol are also assisting.

Authorities are asking that anyone with a home or business in Cyril that has a video doorbell camera come to the Family Life Church and notify law enforcement.

Community members are also being encouraged to search their own property for Athena. For those wanting to assist in the search effort, visit the Command Post at Family Life Church.

Couple charged with murder of 4-year-old Cyril girl has arraignment rescheduled

The arraignment for the couple charged with murder of a Cyril girl, who was found dead last year, has been rescheduled.

Ivon Adams is now supposed to appear on April 26, while Alysia Adams is supposed to be there again on April 17. We’re told it was rescheduled because the judge had a judicial conference.

The couple was charged after Athena Brownfield was reported missing and later found in a shallow grave.

Earlier this month, we told you Alysia was moved to a different jail as the OSBI is looking into whether a jailer was having an inappropriate relationship with her. Caddo Co. officials also stated on Feb. 15 that they will pursue the death penalty against Alysia.

They couldn't find time for a reschedule of a simple arraignment before April 17th? Is it an all day conference? Hey for a first we have one a reason was given at least where in most no reason is given. Not a lot goes on at an arrraignment though, it isn't a preliminary, its' like the first appearance basically so a two month wait why?

I'd have to look back to arrest dates but how long has arraignment been waited for..

So two months down the line for a reschedule.

Apparently she's been in jail long enough to have a "romantic relationship" going on and I'm sure she took the time to "date" and get to know him first. Lol. Sorry...
DP for her, a murdered child but she's busy with other things... Apparently so is a jailer versus doing his job or keeping it.

Hit the link and look at this baby, this little girl and her beautiful face and eyes and her innocence.

I pray her sister is in a better place. I know Athena is.

This woman is facing the DEATH PENALTY and she damned well should. If a right world so should Kamrie's mom, selling her daughter like some commodity for mom to get her **** and get fat from. I.e. whatever her fix was drugs, shoes or Cheetos. Good Lord there are some sick people out there and it's way past time to crack down and end this 'soft" experiment.

Mother of Athena Brownfield pleads not guilty to child neglect charges

Athena Brownfield‘s biological mother pleaded not guilty in Caddo County court Friday to two charges of child neglect.

Jasmin Brownfield was arrest back in May last year on both counts by abandonment. An affidavit for Brownfield’s arrest at the time said she left Athena and her sister with Alyisa ands Ivon Adams in 2021.

That affidavit said she did so because she did not believe she or the children’s biological father were adequate caretakers. Officials said Jasmin Brownfield did not check on the girls, provide child support, or inform authorities about any custody changes.

Jasmin Brownfield was emotional in court Friday, but both she and her lawyer refused to answer any of News 4’s questions before or after she entered her plea. At one point, Brownfield even asked court officials if media were allowed in the proceedings.

News 4 asked Brownfield several questions surrounding if she felt like she did anything wrong, why she wanted the case to go to trial, why she trusted the Adams’ with her daughter’s and if she had anything to say to the community of Cyril. None of those questions received a response.

Caretaker Of Athena Brownfield, Cyril 4-Year-Old Found Dead In January, Expected To Enter Blind Plea

A woman accused of killing 4-year-old Athena Brownfield in Cyril is expected to enter a blind plea in November, court records show.

Alysia Adams pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder and child neglect charges earlier this year, however, The Caddo County District Attorney later announced it would be seeking the death penalty at trial.

Now, Adams is putting her fate in the hands of a judge, as she's expected to change her plea on Nov. 13. The court is expected to set a date for a sentencing hearing.

The second suspect in Brownfield's death, Ivon Adams, is the husband of Alysia Adams.

Ivon has been charged with second-degree murder, neglect and the unlawful removal of a body.

Ivon Adams is due in court on Nov. 15.

Additionally, Brownfield's biological mother, Jasmin Brownfield, is also facing charges of child neglect.

Court records show negotiations between prosecutors and Jasmin Brownfield are underway, and it is possible she could plead guilty at her next court date in January 2025.

Caregiver charged in 4-year-old Cyril girl's murder rejects plea deal

A caregiver charged with murder in connection with the death of a 4-year-old Cyril girl has turned down a plea deal and will go to trial.

Alysia Adams was in court on Wednesday, during which the state offered a plea deal as she faces charges of first-degree murder, felony child neglect and obstructing an officer (misdemeanor) for the death of Athena Brownfield. Adams had already pleaded not guilty.

KOCO 5's Alyse Jones reports that Adams tore up the plea deal papers, but her attorney had no comment on why the deal was rejected. If she had accepted the deal, the death penalty would have been off the table.

At the time, Alysia and Ivon Adams were Brownfield's caregivers. They have both been charged with murder.

By turning down the plea deal, the state will seek the death penalty. Alysia Adams' next court date is scheduled for March, and the trial will likely start in April.
